Canada ratified the Rome Statute on July 9, 2000.
Implementation of the Rome Statute
The CAHWCA amended existing Canadian laws, including the Criminal Code, the Extradition Act, and the Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Act.
Cooperation with the International Criminal Court (ICC)
Bill C-19 would implement Canada's obligations to cooperate with the ICC in the investigation and prosecution of offenses. This includes:
Extending law enforcement cooperation to the ICC
Giving preferential treatment to requests from the ICC for the arrest and surrender of suspects
The Rome Statute is an international treaty adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1998 to investigate the "gravest crimes of concern to the international community".

As the spouse of a Palestinian, my heart aches for those who have been displaced by the ongoing crisis in Palestine. I deeply hope that my spouse, his family, and all Palestinians will one day witness the recognition of Palestine as a sovereign state, free to return to their homeland. This powerful speech condemns Canada’s complicity in the events unfolding in Palestine. While many remain fixated on the events of October 7th, we must look beyond that tragic day and acknowledge the years of suffering caused by Israel’s occupation of Palestine. I was born in Canada in 1979. In Penticton. I have never been so passionate about Palestinian rights than I am now.
The only reason Ukrainians expedited to Canada as refergees is because Dupty PM is Ukrainian. I still don't understand why Canada should have a free trade agreement with the corrupt country of Ukraine? 🤔🤔 They wanted Afghanistan people refergee status expedited. But what about Palestinian peoples 🤔
It certainly helped when Trudeau, with no objection from the opposition, removed the Russian RT TV channel from our subscription choices. Mustn't let the people hear the Russian side of the story.
We should take in refugees no matter where they are from. I was taught we are a country of peace and a cultural mosaic. So let's take in these people who need our help

Canadian Senators are appointed by our Governor General. They do not need to worry about being re-elected. This free's them up to (in theory) look at issues in a non partisan way and judge them based off their actual merit rather than compromising their position to pander to short sighted, populism in service of their own re-election campaign.
