Very good review and a very impressive car. I've owned Hyundai products since 2004 and their reliability is legendary. As a second car I still own my original unbreakable Getz for shopping.
Great well balanced review! (I've seen quite a few other aussie "boys" reviews of the new Ioniq5 over the past few days, most struggling with their words to explain anything clear. Whereas in this video you are direct and clear about your views!!) of a DREAM Hyundai, no question. Its a Hyundai you'd look back at after parking it!
Great review> I always enjoy your reviews. Interesting how Hyundai is pronounced in Australia. Here, in the States, the company "taught" Americans years ago to pronounce it as rhyming with "Sunday." So here its "Hun day". Regardless, they are definitely "on the move" with so many excellent vehicles and excellent reliability and quality along with it (that was their Achilles heel). Hyundai/Kia/Genesis are really an exciting innovative company that presents excellent quality and value altogether.
The funny thing is that Hyundai did the same thing in Australia when they first arrived and they taught us Aussies to pronounce it the way Simone does in the video. I still remember the TV advertising back when they would tell us it is “HE..UN…DAY”
The design certainly is different and has “shock factor” that seems to be what all design studios have to add instead of timeless clean cohesive design. I suspect it will age poorly. The IONIQ 5 on the other hand is stunning! Cool review
Just another EV. This still has EV limits. 1. Expensive 2. Limited range 3. Long charge times. 4. Limited availability of chargers. Concern about compatibility. While nice, it has no new EV benefits. So it is just a derivative redesign. This will never convince those reluctant to join the EV parade.
Nice review but Seems like poor value to me. Can buy a hyundai i30 sedan Petrol for $29990 drive away. The ioniq6 cost $76,000 drive away.. It will take a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time to recover the $46k extra spend. Electric cars are not free to run, a home charge will cost you $30 per charge in electricity (at current prices)... After 7 years the cost of a replacement battery otherwise no resale value. Petrol cars take 4 minutes to refill as well so a trip to Melbourne from Sydney might take an extra 3-4 hours in an EV car.. (presuming charging stations are available to use)..
The other issue with electric cars is what happens if they are involved in a serious accident. Do they blow up? Do paramedics need to first disengage the battery before they can help you to protect their own life? How an they do this if the car is mangled up? This could be a life n death situation .. Until these things are answered, Petrol power for me, tried and true... In saying all of this, if you must get an EV car, if you must, the hyundai ioniq5/6 is probably the best option.
Be careful, Korean batteries are dangerous. Over 90% of all battery related EV recalls worldwide are from Korean batteries, which all share the same unsafe pouch design from LG chemicals. The recalls affected every manufacturer that used Korean batteries, including Ford, GM, Renault, BMW, Hyundai, KIA, etc., as well as many energy storage companies. The most prominent example was GM's recall of every single Chevy Bolt ever made, totaling more than 142,000 cars, due to fire-prone LG batteries. The design defect of Korean batteries is the biggest dirty secret of the EV industry. Avoid them if you can.
The issue was figured out by LG Chem itself and properly solved. Potentially dangerous packs has been replaced (for free for end-user). So, what's the problem now?
@@kyojima7190 No it wasn't. The design defect was never fixed. It's baked in and not removable. The safety margin on these Korean batteries will remain too small to be safe. By the way, Bolt battery replacement is still ongoing due to shortages caused by subsequent recalls of various other EVs and power storage systems. Avoid Korean batteries at all cost.
Hyundai and Genesis can be better than Toyota and Lexus 😊😊😊
I bought Hyundai after test driving Hyundai and Toyota.
@@user-qg2zl2cm6j you will regret it in just 12 to 18 months 😢
Hyundai and Kia are Class Leaders
If u mean leading by most recalled then yes 100%
Great review absolutely love the rear interior.
Simone... this was a perfect review.
You are beautiful and competent
What we need.
1. $25k purchase price
2. 400 mi range
3. Widespread compatible chargers like Tesla has.
Exactly .
We need the IONIQ 1, 2 , 3 , 4 then we can worry about the 5 + models 😂😂😂😂
Another great review with Simone! I like the different design base of those both models. However, the Ioniq 6 looks better in darker color paints.

What a machine 😍
The Hyundai IONIQ 6 looks great, the range and performance options make it a great EV. Hyundai have done an amazing job with this one!

Just keep em coming! Loving the reviews. They're extremely insightful and easy to understand.. no complicated car lingo which I appreciate lol 😅
Am I the only one that thinks it looks shit?
Ugly AF yes
Are they importing more than the ionic 5 or we should expect 2 year wait list and double rrp second hand.?
How does it compare to Tesla?
Beautiful!
Awesome review and channel but that thing is Next level UGLY! I'll stick to Ioniq 5 thank you.
I LOVE the design of this car. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say.
Good review and very pleasant presenter!
no thanks, it looks hideous

This car is for anyone who wants a Porsche Taycan but can't afford it 😅😂
You know... I wanna love this car.... but damn... it looks so ambidextrous.. move the steering column to the rear and it's the same orientation.
Its looks are no doubt divisive. But I for one applaud Hyundai for taking a risk with this new car, in a sea of boring lookalike SUV's.

About 6 years to recover the price difference. Then it is running well under that $30K car.
3:36 come on Simone. The Hyundai platform has been proven to not making its efficiency numbers. Bit of an advertorial this.
The manufacturers claims were mentioned. It was tested in this review.

It hurts that such a cool car is a Hyundai. I just wish it were wider, it looks kinda narrow to me
The design reminds me a lot of the Citroens from the 1960’s. 👌🏾🫶🏽
I take that as a oompliment!
@@Mexxx65 that’s a big YES 🫶🏽
The Ioniq 6 looks like a Porsche and a Citroên had a baby that got aborted.
