    Got the first edition awd since may. Black on black interior exterior color sceme, reverse lights white in stead of red. Which looks so much better then the regular models. Charging is consistently 17 min for 80%. Range is very accurate with about 410km when driving relaxed and properly, about 380km when driving fot fun. Smooth driving and handeling. Turns heads every day

    At the end of the day, Tesla makes the best electric vehicles and knows how to gain maximum optimisation in engineering and costs. However, this is better than a Model 3, and it is where I would put my money for an electric vehicle. It's got the looks, the range, the tech, the space, and the performance. It's also good to hear that it has the driving dynamics to match. Well done to Hyundai. It seems they've got a winner on their hands.

      I feel like the only problem with Tesla is that all buttons and stuff you need are done in the central screen
      I also hate Ioniq 6 for not putting physical buttons for temperature in the car and seat/steering wheel heater
      supposedly this Ioniq 6 beep for everything all the time that's a bummer
      coming from a Ioniq 28kw it's a shame to lose those winter features

    Tom is right about the back seat. No one ever sits in my backseat. I’ve had the car NEW since 2017 and no one has sat in the seat other then me vacuuming and spring and fall cleaning but no one has ridden in it. How different from the day before the home PC. When we lived in our cars gathering together to play Video Games or go to the beach or stores. If you have No children at home and your partner has their own car I think this is a large percentage of sedans.

    I'd give this car literally all the design awards of this decade. The designer successfully hid its tall height, and made the most intriguing design. Front lights just needs some eyelids like the race-car version, they probably cudnt do tht frm factory due to regulations. Absolutely love the rear end. If this had an engine in it, sales of other cars would decline rapidly.

    In Canada the base price is supposedly 54999, because if the base model of a line is under 55k it qualifies for up to 10k off depending on the model. This means that unlike the Tesla Model 3 Performance this will still get up to 10k off even if you get an AWD model. That makes it much more attractive here than a lot of other high priced EVs.

    Thanks for your great review. This was actually quite instrumental, as an Australian review, in convincing me to purchase the Ioniq 6 RWD Dynamiq back in August. I took delivery in September and now after 3,000 km I have not been disappointed in any way. It is a joy to drive. I am not a car guy at all, generally viewing them simply as a tool to complete a task, but now I find myself actually hankering to just take the Ioniq out for a drive in the hills or even across the suburbs.

    I’m 60 years old and been riding in cars since I remember back to age 3. At one time I was buying and selling cars and had a wide range of makes and models from the 60’s 70’s 80’s 90’s and up. I owned a classic 1963 Lincoln and a 1961 Dodge Dart, a 1973 Fleetwood Brougham, 1976 New Yorker, and Many many full sized Lincolns and panther platform cars. Many Full sized early 80’s GM cars including another full sized Caddy. I never ever was in a car that made me sea sick even when someone else was doing the driving. I find todays cars seem to all ride the same. Except for Real sports cars and some EV’s. Some are more quiet than others. I didn’t have the best IRON Stomach when it came to amusement park rides but never in a car even if I was already sick.

    I liked this Hyundai Ioniq6 when I first saw it, more than the Ioniq5. Admittedly not as an "iconic" shape as the Ioniq5. And its looks are divisive, reminds me of a modern-day take of the old Hyundai Tiburon. For me the most impressive EV Hyundai thus far.
    I believe there are 2 ways us car enthusiasts view the new Ioniq6 "streamliner". Its similarities to older German sports cars, stealing design queue's. Or it has a totally unique styling look, that's unmistakable, in this day and age of SUV bricks.

    If the focus is on maximum aerodynamic efficiency, the designers are very limited in how to shape the car. I've seen an interview with one of the engineers associated with this car and both spoilers contribute to the drag coefficient. You can argue about some of the minor details at the back, but the whole thing is 90% about aero. This would be wrecked if they attempted a wagon version, much as I love wagons! If I had the money, I'd buy the base model in an instant.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  Год назад

      I think “wrecked” is putting it way too highly. The I6 has a 20% better efficiency claim than the blocky (yet reasonably economical) I5. A smoothly-styled wagon or shooting brake would land somewhere in between.

    • @kenlloyd3078
      @kenlloyd3078 Год назад

      @@chasingcars Point taken. I was still in the "least possible drag coefficient " mind-set. As an old retired engineer myself, I tend to focus more on ingenious solutions to making the most of EVs limited energy reserves. Also I don’t understand why these EVs are so expensive. I have a RWD Tesla Model 3 and on the surface, the Model 3 looks to be better where it counts for me. Yet these Hyundai models are more expensive. I’d be interested to try one some day to see if I’m wrong, but a lot of the tech looks a bit messy and cluttered by comparison.

    It's a missed opportunity, like the Model 3. They could have given it a boot instead of a letterbox without even changing the exterior design. If it had a rear hatch it would be great. Well, let's hope they come up with an estate, that would be even better.

      If the 3 had a hatchback opening I'd have bought one. I took one look at the tiny aperture and said "no thanks". And the Y is just that little bit too expensive to get EV incentive rebate in my state. Shame, because the Y is cavernous in terms of storage.

    • @adrianguggisberg3656
      @adrianguggisberg3656 Год назад

      @@Mububban23 In my country we don't get incentives to buy EVs, which I think is good. The govt. shouldn't spend taxpayer money on people who can afford a new car, while there are people who pay taxes and can barely get by. Even so, I bought my first Tesla 10 years ago and the EV market share is close to 30%. Anyway, I got a new Ioniq 5 this winter and not a Model Y, because it is so much more comfortable and it's also a little shorter in length, which is helpful in our narrow medieval towns. I have to say though, the Ioniq 5 is readily available here, had I had to wait for months on end, I might still have chosen a Model Y.
