Wonderful discussion.I love the class analysis and connection with global Black conditions .And Dr WEst was quite a fox here. He was more powerful before he descended into the various public spats that have overshadowed his fine mind in recent years.I enjoy that the two men have so much mutual respect even while they differ on many issues. And all the laughter and humour in the midst of this.Charlie Rose could have said much much much less to allow them to wrestle with those differences more fully,if only as a deeper learning for we the viewers. He should in fact have excused himself and let these two giants get to it. Haven't seen this sort of rigourous debate on TV for a while .
***** BLM drew my attention to "black history" (which is just as much British or American history) and I've been trying to consume as much as possible since. James Baldwin is also excellent, astute, and had a real genius in helping white people - people like me - to understand race issues from other perspectives. I'm in his and West's debt.

This wd be a good text for college courses on African American studies, especially the intro course It shd of course be aided with appropriate documentaries All first year students must take such a course before they focus on their department majors!!!
This is an excellent discussion - and I am glad that these professors opening acknowledge Farrakhan. It is time for groups that are concerned with acculturating economic democracy - to actively work on restoration of the Indigenous Original Society - so that we have a credible investment law foundation. We also need to get such thoughtful leaders involved with reactivating the Culture of Peace Initiative that was launched in the venue of International Year for the Culture of Peace 2000. This was effectively ignored by the major powers. cpnn-world.org
I'm pretty sure he is talking about a movement that wants to redistribute wealth or investments in a way that counters the lingering effects of colonialism. Those effects would presumably be both material (stolen land) and cultural (dominance of English literature). Not saying I agree or disagree with it, but I'm fairly certain that's what his goal is. I've no idea what cpnn is, though, and I'm a little afraid to follow a link that may break my use of English entirely. ;-)
Culture of Peace News Network... administered by Dr. David Adams - who was the head of the UNESCO program to develop the tools for choosing peace more readily than having to resort to war and the culture of violence.
The most valuable information i got out of just the first 15 minutes is to get an education that nobody can take away from you and beware of the man who uses his knowledge for social status. Especially for this generation, it would be ignorant to think that we are doing something brand new.
A lot of conversation and debate regarding the black community and the changes since the civil rights movement and yet the indeginous community who where here before the rest us including the slave trade what has this community seen as growth. And it was the natives who helped slaves escape slavery. This is where the Indians who parade during Mardi Gras in ward 9 pay homage to their native friends.
Race doesn’t mean self empowerment and racial superiority! Race is just a matter of genetics and scientific identification! Not about social engineering and societal norms and societal issues!!! Smdh
Race is a colonial social engineering class construct, where clearly it takes two to tangle. Ethnicity should be used in place of race, as Ethnicity actually speaks to the reality of one's cultural history heritage and traditions and not mere an adjective or connotation vaguely describing an idea. Native Americans don't play that Race Hustling nonsense. They know who they are, and do not allow their Colonizers to name them outside of their Ethnicity, cultures and heritages.
Both of these black intelligent men married white women. Gates is divorced but Cornell is still married. Black folks don’t understand white supremacy. Our parents didn’t talk about it and we don’t understand that these people are the same and they don’t hold our best interest. I’m glad they continue to help their race. I thinks that’s the most important part. Good luck to them both.
He's already connected, my good person, as his central message is fidelity to the the 4th Commandment, the mockery of which is why this discussion is possible. I'm not sure to whom you're referring when mentioning "a man who embraces hate." By inference, I think Min. Farrakhan is your likely target. But my attitude regarding him is the same as the professors. If you wonder what that might be, please review the discussion. With all due respect.

West might have the best smile and laugh I've ever seen. 😃

Get a trade! College is a scam
All 3 of these men were educated when there was respect and discipline in the classroom.
Please who’s the interviewer. All three are men of blinding intellect.
If you think the interviewer is smart because he is asking questions, please read some books
this is beautiful!!!
Is there a follow up to "The Future of the Race" for 2020?
The book is a good read
Dr. West deserved tenure. Harvard lost a man of towering intellect and a voice of moral integrity.
Facts
That's why scholars like this, should be at black college's, where the6 can't be treated like slaves attempting to actually act free!!!
Very interesting!

Never talk about manipulating systems, you may end up manipulating yourself
Men of intellect.
Black people were kidnapped from Africa and they try to interlectualized something that is so simple.
Ados. What are they saying now
Exactly
Both of these black intelligent men married white women. Gates is divorced but Cornell is still married. Black folks don’t understand white supremacy. Our parents didn’t talk about it and we don’t understand that these people are the same and they don’t hold our best interest.
I’m glad they continue to help their race. I thinks that’s the most important part. Good luck to them both.
This is a limited, yet understandable perspective.
Reparations.
Does any one speak Cornel West language. I'm calling the men in Black. I'm certain he's an 👽.
Lmao
Mr. West, please connect your spirituality to Gd, not a man who embraces hate.
No transcends hate!
