      I have lost 13 kilograms in two months. First month 10 and second only 3. First month I’ve stoped eating simple carbs and generally couldn’t ate a lot. Last one i ate a little bit of junk food here and there and now Christmas and New Year I am expecting to gain few kilograms. Saxenda is great totally different from Contrave, much better. I didn’t have any side effects except when I eat more than I can. This medicine really makes you full and its easy to stick to the diet. The inly time i had side effects (wanting to throw up) was when I overeat. Next month I will see my doctor, she said after 3 months we need to change medicine as, if I understood well, saxenda seems to work around 3 months and patients lose around 15 kilograms in total. She want me to start with Ozempic I think. Hope this helps, excuse my English :-)

    I went from 290 to 231 all on my own through exercise, a low carb diet and intermittent fasting…then my weight loss hit a plateau. I hired a personal trainer and even stopped fasting, but nothing changed. I explained to my doctor what was going on and she prescribed me phentermine. The biggest advantage I notice is feeling more satisfied after I eat and it curves any cravings. The increased feelings of anxiety are right! I definitely still have to workout and pay attention to my caloric intake. It’s not a magic pill. I started almost a month ago and I’m down to 223. I meet with my doctor next week and I’m hoping to get down to 10 pounds in 1 month.

    • @growleym504
      @growleym504 8 месяцев назад

      50 lbs is small potatoes. Most docs won't prescribe anything that really works until you are at least 100 lbs over. Breaking the food addiction is tough but if you can do that, and exercise, REALLY exercise, daily, it honestly works out to calories in vs calories out. If you weigh every single serving that goes in your mouth and totally TOTALLY eliminate all processed sugars and flour and white rice, that's a pretty good start. For snacks, celery is a freebie. It literally takes almost as many calories to digest it as what you get from it, so if you eat it plain with no dip or spread on it, you can wean yourself away from snack foods. Your family has to be on board with all this. You may have to cook two separate pots of the same food sometimes. Gumbo with no roux. Beans with no ham hocks. Collard greens with no neck bones. Brown rice only, and no more than what you can hold in your closed hand, for a serving. A closed handful is actually a good serving size for most foods. Anyway everyone has a maintenance level, a number of calories where your weigh is stable, and below that amount causes a loss in bodyweight, a larger amount causes a gain. The maintenance level CHANGES on you! The body's naturally programmed starvation reflex causes your digestive system and metabolic system to be more efficient, and get this... to cannibalize lean tissue such as muscle, and keep a good amount of body fat in reserve, as your body's "gas tank". So you have to keep the protein intake up, and do heavy resistance training such as lifting weights, to conserve that muscle. Muscle consumes energy even at rest. Fatty tissue is just storage, and consumes very little nutrients. So the more muscle you have, the easier it is to lose weight. My wife is on 1200 calories per day and zero food goes into her mouth that is not weighed and logged. She walks up to 6 miles a day with some running, and lifts weights. She goes to a gym and we also have dumbbells at home. In 16 months she has gone from 420 to 202. Did I mention she is also on Mounjaro? It helps with the food cravings and otherwise she would have to check into a fat camp to control her eating like that.
      Half the people in my city WISH they were only 50 lbs overweight. What's nice about being so little is you are still mobile. You aren't huffing and puffing and needing to stop after walking a block or two. When your weight gets truly out of hand, you get where exercise is not physically possible anymore. Losing weight by reducing food intake and increasing physical activity can be hard enough. When the only thing you can control is your eating because you are no longer able to do any meaningful exercise, you are basically screwed. My wife's extra 250 lbs started out as just an extra 50 lbs. You need to nip this in the bud, while it is still relatively easy.
      Talk to your doctor. TBH most doctors don't seem to know jack shit about weight loss, but talk to him anyway so he knows you are fin to put the hammer down. Make sure that if you get really medieval about lowering your food intake, you are monitoring your vitals and recording them along with your daily weigh-in, and seeing your doc regularly. And one thing about weight loss drugs... unless you are able to lose weight without them on your own, you can't just stop taking them when you reach your target weight because you will gain most of the weight right back. OTOH if you truly learn good habits while taking them, and have the strength of character to stick with them with zero exceptions for literally the rest of your life, maybe you can get off the drugs when you reach your target. But most people are stuck on them forever if they want to not gain the weight back.
      One thing to remember is your weight can easily fluctuate a pound or two from one day to the next. If you get worked up about gaining two pounds and drop yoru calories by another 200 or lose that amount and think you can relax the diet a little, you will be seesawing all over the place. So what you do is graph your daily weight and look at the trend. Draw a straight line that hits or comes close to your daily weight marks on your chart for the past 7 days. That shows you more of a true picture. If you lose 1% of your bodyweight every week, that is usually pretty sustainable. Lose more than that, and you are not doing yourself any favors. So if you are 200 lbs, then 2 lbs per week is pretty good. As you get leaner, you might or might not find it easier to continue the 1% per week.
      Good luck! You can do this!

      @PathNutrition 2 года назад +4

      @@charlesmorris8791 the answer is nuanced, I think. Natural is preferred in most cases because it might be safer/fewer side effects but not always. It's also usually less expensive and more accessible, but not always! Placebo is great but specifically in the discussion of Apple Cider Vinegar and weight loss I say no because I think it's the diet culture mentality that is harmful. Desperate dieters are seeking anything or the "right" way to lose weight and they are given so many answers that aren't helpful, usually. There are no short cuts that offer results long term. Even drugs and surgery are not creating long term results because people are not dealing with the root causes of their overeating. There may still be some clinical benefits to short term weight loss, because maybe some time is better than none however, what is that doing to long term metabolism, mental health etc? So in short my answer is yes...and no. Thank you coming to my ted talk. :)

      @@PathNutrition What do think of Intermittent Fasting for weight loss and maintenance after the desired weight is reached?

    • @PathNutrition
      @PathNutrition 2 года назад +8

      @@charlesmorris8791 there are definately benefits to intermittent fasting. I like to recommend a simple 12 hour fast, for example from 7pm-7am for most people. There's documented benefits to this IF someone can maintain that often. This also doesn't require "perfect" compliance and can be done if blood sugar is not super balanced. More extreme fasting windows often work best if the person is also maintaining a balanced and evan blood sugar. So let's say someone wanted an 8 hour eating window but they ended their day with a pint of ice cream, their blood sugar will tank and it will be so much harder (not feel good) to wait until the next eating window. If someone is willing to seriously change their relationship with flour and sugar then a shorter eating window absolutely be beneficial. Here's the thing...if you're not losing weight the way you will live forever then the weight will come back. So if you fast, reach a weight and then stop fasting, it's likely you will regain. That's just numbers. So personally, we teach low and slow wins because you're truely adapting lifestyle with small doable change. It's not a quick fix which is why we do the coaching because it's not swift in your face results. But I have clients that lost 20 lbs in a year and have kept it off and keep losing. To me that's far better than losing 20lbs in one month then three months later it's back and you are on a yo yo cycle.

    I, to my delight, lost 25kg on Ozempic. For the first time in my life, I never thought about weight, food, my body. It was freedom from HELL! I've never been happier and more content. No struggle...I just was not hungry, never craved my usual sugary foods...I looked good and felt great in clothes I had not been able to wear as a teen. Now at 57 yrs..that's a long time in emotional pain. I was FREE. And then, it just suddenly stopped working...end of story! I've gained 15kg back in two months...My happy self has been plunged into the blackest hole. The gates of Hell have slammed shut on me once again...and I just CAN'T DO THIS! My Dr said...if you have an eating disorder to begin with...when Ozempic eventually stops working...AND IT WILL!!!! Nature kicks back in...So, you will automatically return to your old mindset, cravings, patterns. I wish I'd known so I could have worked so hard on my mind while losing the weight.

      Hello fr 🇨🇦 - I am so sorry you’re not feeling well. Blessings to you. I know how stressful this can be.
      Years ago - A girlfriend had this issue with a parasite she picked up while traveling Mexico. Happens all too commonly when we travel to Mexico or further south. We generally prepare our body eating yogurt days on end before travel. Or yogurt pills. With the understanding that the yogurt will coat and protect the stomach. I don’t know what the remedy is - antibiotic maybe idk 🤷‍♀️ so sorry. You need to see a doctor to remedy - especially if it’s something small that can easily be fixed with an antibiotic.

    This video did help me. I was thinking about taking Adipex because my friend lost 60 pounds, while taking it, and she looks fabulous. I would never go the injection route, so I was happy to see that Phentermine was your second choice, at lower dosages. My friend took 15 mg per day and she was still able to lose that much weight. So, I think that is what I will try. I need to lose about 75 lbs and I had considered weight loss surgery. I think I will try meds first, since I don't really want to have surgery. Thanks again for the info.

      Phentermine is not supposed to be used long-term. It is typically supposed to be used for about three months but many, if not most, doctors will continue to prescribe it as long as the patient wants. Even when there is no proof of therapeutic success. It is definitely not meant to be used as a maintenance med.

    For the record, I lost 49 pounds in 5 months using Contrave with no exercise. It absolutley kills your appetite and there are no sweet, salty, crunchy, creamy, cold, hot cravings. In the beginning, there are minor side effects of which they can be easily mitigated until you become tolerant of the drug. For nausea use motion sickness medicine with your first morning dose. For constipation, take 2 stool softener capsules daily. Problem solved. I only had to take the dramamine and stool softener the first week. Now it’s just fine and I have no problems. I am now in the healthy BMI for my height and weight and that is thanks to Contrave because I do not have that kind of willpower. This medication can be taken long term if you so choose. For now, I will stay on it and gradually decrease the dose to see if I can sustain the weight loss.

      Mounjaro seems to work much better than the other injectable drugs due to being both a GLP-1 agonist ➕ a GIP medication. Sadly, the insanely high cost and quashed manufacturer discount have led to many who barely started taking it, or just wanting to, to search for other means of therapy. Many have lost weight with Saxenda, Ozempic and Wegovy, but as a CPhT I see the positive effects of Mounjaro far outweighing those of the others (no pun intended). Personally I have only been able to obtain one box of 2.5mg and am now going to take Contrave for a month then likely switch to Ozempic as my clinic can get it compounded and I won't have to worry about availability issues. It will still be expensive at about $150 per month but nothing like the almost $550 for 4 shots of Mounjaro.
      Here's a thought for Eli Lilly, put the 4 doses in a single pen and save tons of money on materials/pachaging costs. Look.for ways to make it more affordable. Lobby the insurance companies and PBMs to cover antiobesity medication instead of just the medication for the diseases that are CAUSED by obesity. I understand medication can be expensive to develop and produce, but this is seriously ridiculous.

      Hi Crystal , I feel your pain . I’ve tried every diet out there being overweight my whole life . I find that dirty keto is the only way I can lose weight and stick to it . I made it my lifestyle after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes . No longer diabetic and almost at my goal weight of 140. Some people might frown upon the fact I use dirty keto . You can literally supplement any carb with something using recipes from RUclips, so you never feel deprived . I have started weight training and walk an hour a day that really helps , especially after a plateau . Good luck my friend , you can do this . Coming from another Crystal who thought she could never lose weight .Take care ❤

    11:28 - How sad... Phentermine hasn't been studied very well due to it's low cost. Never mind the safety of it.

      Is that the one with ephedrine in it? Because you can buy ephedrine over the counter at the pharmacy!
      Just bring your ID (they put your info in the system to monitor how much you buy a month) & ask for Primatene or Bronkaid (Primatene is stronger). Then pair it with caffeine, online articles suggest
      3 ephedrine tablets a day 4 hours apart with 200mg of caffeine every 4 hours 3 times a day.
      They call it a EC stack.
      I take 1 a day, no caffeine for asthma & junk food craving control. I haven’t lost any weight but I’m thinking of trying the EC stack, I have about 10 lbs to lose!

    I just started taking topamax and phentermine together and its helping ive only been on it a few days but its taking my brain off food! Im just not as constantly hungry and eating less. And I can stick to my healthy plan! Ill try this and see how it goes and maybe switch to wegovy my BMI is 35 and Im very depressed about my weight and feeling desperate to take off at least a little bit, i think that will help tremendously. I dont under stand the problem with insurance covering it. big pharma i guess. They hand out scripts for blood pressure diabetes cholesterol left and right but not for proven weight loss meds?? smh

    I dunno if it's not compounded by something else. You can easily drop 1 kg a month by doing small changes in the lifestyle. So I'm not convinced it's only the drug.
