This is a miracle drug for me. I struggle with severe binge eating and thinking about food constantly. This med has stopped all desire to binge and I no longer think about food all the time. I literally have to force myself to eat.
@@christinamartinez8132 I’m into my 4th week on Sunday. My appetite has gone for rubbish food and alcohol which is amazing for me. I am exercising too to increase my lean muscle mass which will increase my metabolism. So far loving it. I have had no side effects but I was taking anti depressants anyway so my body was probably used the bupropion noradrenaline element of the medication. I’m on my third day of taking Contrave. I know it’s early days, but so far so good! I have lost 1 pound and I have had no side effects. I usually overeat around 6/7 pm but has not happened the past couple nights. I have also stopped snacking too. Like I said it’s early days so it may get better or worse, only time will tell. Best of luck to everyone taking this! X

I am taking contrave and LOVE it. I am definately a binge eater though. I appreciate your information since I have never found anyone who could explain how it works. What I have found is that I am not the typical that loses a bunch of weight quickly. However, what I am finding is that it is teaching me new habits. Now over around 8 months, I have lost around 40 pounds. I try to cut bread and sugar out, am drinking much more water, walk everyday, and eat much less. Also, it is much easier for me to turn down food and throw food away. The side affects that I have are the brain shocks, dry mouth and constipation, occassional headaches, and agitation. All of these are controllable for me.
I recently tried Wegovy, but I had a bad reaction - a mild, but bothersome back rash - so my doctor has prescribed Contrave. Today I took my first dose. Over the next few months I hope to see real results. I weighed 319 lbs two years ago and I've since lost 70 lbs through a combination of daily exercise and a focused on both a healthy diet and on calorie restriction. After a bad lower back injury which I received while working out with my personal trainer four months ago, I lost another 15 lbs sick in bed for two weeks. Struggling with depression and unhappy that I had injured myself, I regained 30 lbs since then, mostly by suddenly eating chocolate, bread, butter, and cheese and salami again, after only having had them very very rarely for well over a year, but I am now 100% committed to getting to my ideal weight - 200 lbs ASAP. So, hopefully with Contrave and strict daily calorie restriction, along with intermittent fasting, and along with re-starting my weekly/daily exercise regimen, it will do the trick! I would like to lose approx 8 lbs per month, and thus to be at 200 lbs by November. Also, I am soon going to be starting to do neurofeedback sessions 1/2 hour daily to help focus my will power and re-train my ability to make my a variety of life choices free from the residual effects of trauma - I am now 9 years clean and sober from a 13 year crystal methamphetamine addiction that left me homeless, sleeping on the streets of LA from 2012-2014.

I am concerned with the side effects, but at the same time the side effects of my weight is no good either. I would love to see an update and wish you all the best .

I'm an emotional bing eater. I've lost 50 lbs twice in my lifetime and now on my 3rd journey to lose 25lbs. i can stick to daily exercise but the food is my challenge. would contrave suppress my appetite, will it make me think differently about food? will i forget to eat? how does it help an emotional eater?

I'm a terrible binge eater and just started contrave today. I've been doing keto and do good when I can stick to it. I always make it 2-3 weeks and then I'll binge and feel like I've ruined it and then it's a bit before I get back on track. I also tend to overeat at regular meals. Really hoping this helps. My cw is 238 and am moderately active throughout the day so I think with the appetite suppressant and more exercise the weight should fall off.
