    This month, we made significant progress on our production-intent vehicles. For PI2, we've completed laser-welding the battery modules, are continuing high-voltage integration testing, and have the chassis and suspension in production. And for Aptera Solar, we are excited to announce a pilot program with Averest and the success of our pilot with Polydrops.

      Yes, seeing industry acceptance and early implementation of Aptera core technologies does speak well of the team and what they are developing. That Aptera is willing to enable others to use their technology to help all reach Economy of Scale with Solar, etc is a good testament on their Ethos.

    Hey Kids! Stoked for this, thanks for the update Steve, and Steve as well!!
    LOVE the way you are doing things, coming from my headache of a life as an auto mechanic. The way you are doing this harness makes so much sense. So good to get away from many of those proprietary connectors, which are expensive, WAY too many types (many thousands), and they actually don't protect very well. Huge cost saving, reduction in complexity, and better circuit protection. I can't tell you how many automotive electric failures can be traced back to faulty connectors or corroded terminals within those connectors. You eliminated a huge problem present in the current paradigm.

      Bruce, I figured you would be the one to ask a few questions, do you know who the hub motor suppliers are and what is your genuine feeling about the fundraising? These are the two big unknowns to me right now. I am not trying to be negative or anything just wondering. Do you think this is a funded operation or is Aptera still trying to get enough money just to keep it alive?

      @@Aspkkr No, I ony signed an NDA regarding the cooling, and don't know anything else that isn't public at the moment. I wish I knew more about the fund raising, but after the same time frame Aptera is in much better shape and far more open than Tesla was. Tesla came within an hour of bankruptcy on December 24, 2008. Look at what just happened to Rivian! I think Aptera will get there, but it is a difficult time for everyone.
      I think we will have an update on the hub motor situation as soon as Aptera is freed from NDAs, and that may be coupled with the finances.

      @@Okurka. I surmise from your comment that you've never had any interaction with the business world or at least very little. I asked in a private email about the hub motors--I wasn't the first person to notice the conspicuous absence in the supply chain slidel--and I got an almost immediate answer: that was something that they could not discuss YET, but they would SOON. That's called confidentiality while negotiations are ongoing. There are many possibilities that I won't go into because they're all just speculation at this point but they did say they would announce it soon...NOT IGNORED as you state, but not answered for now. Now on to P&L statements which are required for registered corporations by law. If you don't yet make anything that you can sell during the reporting timeframe, that is reported in the loss column. That would include salaries for the design engineers, rent for the building, any taxes paid, utility bills, insurances, etc. Your LMAO is silly--do you realize how utterly stupid it is to expect a cutting edge, super-efficient, paradigm shift of a vehicle from startup to present....less than five short pandemic-interruipted years? Go ahead and laugh; while you're at it, let's have YOU do a simple task--design and build a 4' by 6' carbon fiber composite human camping shelter in one year! I'll bet you don't even know where to start! LMAO

      @@Captain_Sweatpants_945 You are correct it will cost more to insure than a motorcycle. Compared to a car, it will be cheap to insure. The carbon composite shell is much harder to damage than steel or fiberglass and the body/door panels are built of the modern version of the dent-proof plastic used in the Saturn vehicles. The main shell can be replaced for $7,000. The cost of the battery pack is half that of a Tesla and the process is automated. Every breakthrough Aptera makes lowers their costs so I don't expect the production price to go up; they need to sell 20,000 Aptera at $25,000 to break even. They are focused on volume production by having fewer parts and fewer fasteners needed to produce built on the most advanced, modern assembly line all of which keep production costs down. Look into Aptera's association with Sandy Munro and Munro Associates and you may change your mind. Thanks for the opportunity to inform you on Aptera.

    It's cool to see an inside look at the development of a whole new car, I don't have a reservation yet but am excited to pick one up when they're rolling out.. Love the right-to-repair attitude and the sharing of info, both good and challenges, as it represents reality in overcoming obstacles.

    Aptera is awesome! I hope you guys can give an overview of the different rounds of funding and what they mean when you close out the crowdfunding. It's good to see that you're executing on the plan of expanding the portfolio and getting to cash-flow positive as quickly as possible instead of following the startup blueprint of growth at all costs. It's definitely the slower route, but IMO it's the more antifragile route.

      Was thinking a significant additional investment but was waiting for clarification on Elaphe and US-Capital deal, details of both promised by now ("within a couple weeks" of June 6th webinar). Did I miss something?

      @@n.brucenelson5920 True but having stated more info coming in advance of end of crowdfunding and huge advertising push for June 30 (or 28th?) deadline, the silence is disappointing and will impact my further investment. The prior response to share value dilution odd shares was left me thinking they’d elaborate when offering SOME insight into the US-Capital deal.
      Missed opportunity as fully expect US-Capital will be getting more equity for the dollar invested than what we (crowdfunding) investors get.

    Great to see that you are teaming up with other companies to use your solar-technology. I would like to see that tech in small leisure boats, replacing the typical stinky and noisy gasoline out board motor. These spend most of their time waiting by the peir anyway and seldom gets used more than an hour per time - would be the ideal candidate for solar-panels!

    If your solar panels are lighter than a standard panel it would be really cool to have a mobile power station. I’m not an engineer but I imagine a trailer equipped with solar panels that could fold/slide out. The whole thing prewired with inverter, batteries etc. This could be incredibly helpful in military applications, reducing reliance on fuel, logistics etc. Might help after natural disasters as well.

      I don’t often think of military applications but the war in Ukraine with Russia’s targeting fuel depots, transmission lines/pipes and some of the largest nuclear power plants in the world made me think similar. As we know, cost is no object for the US military…. Paying $18k for a common wrench or some such nonsense.

      Won't be allowed on eu roads. It's part of what makes the design poorly thought out and the funding hard to reach. They did not design a global product. I doubt this will ever reach actual production let alone a global market.

      @@kapt.jayaubre942 Classification L5e states that a 3-wheeler can't be wider than 2000 mm to be road legal; the Aptera is 2225 mm wide (that's wider than a Cybertruck).
      None of the 3-wheelers you mentioned are wider than 2000 mm and thus are road-legal in Europe.

      ​@@Okurka. It's totally street legal, but the width means that Aptera is limited on how many they can sell. IIRC they can sell something like 2k units total before the regulations matter. Even then, anyone who buys an Aptera outside of the EU can bring it there and drive it legally. It is street legal.

    PI2 chassis available by "mid summer". No mention of the motors. There's no chance of production in early 2026 based on that.

    For the last couple of months I felt like we have to hit some big milestones soon in order to keep momentum up. I’m glad to hear about all of those current developments and I’m getting more and more optimistic about the future of the company. I’m also glad to hear that you’re putting some effort into updating the website. At least for me the website wasn’t really enjoyable for the last couple of months as it was very buggy on most devices I use. Since I’m currently studying engineering and design I’d really like to see a page fully dedicated to facts, figures and numbers about the construction as well as comparisons to other EVs. At least those which you can make public. You should also try to get an Aptera on German roads as possible. When people see how cheap this car is to operate you won’t have to worry about getting enough orders for a couple of years 😂

      Unfortunately both of those aren't yet commoditized in the supply chain, but are things we can look into in the future once we're profitable, and once more suppliers are using 48 volts.

    Steve, do you see a Giga-Casting to replace all the complexity and cost of the welded, frame made of multiple parts in the future?
    The Averest pilot is huge so here's hoping that one really takes off! Aptera Solar Charging implemented at airports globally would be an immense win. The thought of airports around the world migrating not only baggage trams but tugs and passengers trams to Aptera Solar must at times generate a "Slap my Face!" moment from time to time.

      It seems a certainty they're still using hub-motors, since any deviation from that would be a huge redesign. The only question is whether Elaphe is still making them, or now perhaps someone else. I suspect financial negotiations are involved, so they cannot talk until the agreements are signed. No need to panic.

    Have Italian designers been involved with chassis and suspension design? It shows significant changes. Beefed up longitudinal support at the rear along the side of the frame. Beefed up front end apparently for corner collision deflection, and direct collisions. Front suspension is completely redone. It appears that hub motors are still part of the front end. Looks like coil over springs might mount to the two new mounts near the center of the car. Rear suspension mount is also new, much of it has become part of the frame.

    I don't want to distract you from getting the Aptera out the door, but I've wondered whether it would make sense to put solar onto refridgerated semi trailers.

    I like the idea of thin lightweight solar panels that can completely cover all the windows when parked to #1 increase the solar changing power #2 keep the hot sun & uv rays from cooking the interior during summer #3 provide 100% privacy when parked & also to lower the power needed to cool the interior.
    This could be done by having solar panels in the doors that roll up & down just like a car window....And to cover the windshield, a panel could be stored in a thin compartment on the rooftop.That is the identical shape & size as the windshield. That slides out & can be pulled down to cover the windshield.
    If it was semi flexible, it could be in the interior rooftop & pulled down from the inside & fit into a track/groove slot. Located on each side of the interior windshield. It's sorta like how you'd pull down a sun visor.

    Hi Steve! Thank you for the update video! Fellow EE here. Curious about those wiring connectors on the PCBs. Are these for mock up or are those end item connections? I know connectors are a big cost factor, and i suspect what is shown here will greatly reduce that cost. Are these still serviceable connections that regular people would be able to plug and unplug? I understand these kinds of things are likely still in finalization process but i am certainly intrigued by what yall have shown here. Thank you!

    It was noce to see the progress on PI1, and thanks for the clarification on PI2's role. So PI2 will focus on the chassis and power train, while development still continues on wiring the systems that will not be needed for the first drivable models. Am I right?
    I expect PI1 will be drivable eventually, but PI2 is slated to reach that milestone first. I look forward to seeing it as it starts to come together.
    And that chassis really looks flashy.

      PI2 will start its life as a test vehicle, for both suspension, powertrain, and of course the full battery. PI1 will remain only for fitment checks and to test cable routing. Thanks for the comment!

    If the boards have a dust proof coating, how will one replace them if they fail? will you need to pull some of the harness as well, or will there be connectors mid way?
