    Thanks so much for this Suzanne - really interesting way of treating the increases for cable flare. I too used lifted stitch increases for a cable flare swatch recently; but the cables were different and so, therefore, was my treatment - but I shall definitely remember this way of working a 4 stitch cable - looked so neat and pretty. Ditto with the decreases at the top.

    Ooh, I have been doing something somewhat similar, but not as elegant. I knitted into the back loops but more haphazardly! I love having my ribbing flow smoothly into cables and it is can be handy for that purpose too. Thank you for another helpful tutorial.

    It looks amazing!😍 Thank you so much for your effort in making these videos. Then mean a lot! You are very appreciated, respected and loved🌸 I was wondering if it is possible to make a video how to keep a consistent tension in fair isle? Thanks to you, I am a continental knitter also. I am trying your technique that I hold two colors in two hands all the time but the color on my right hand is way more loose than my main left hand. If I tighten it, then my main color stiches are puckered...

    Q: so what is the difference between " Sequential Lifted Increases" and the traditional way of twisting the stitches? why do you increase when you can add them from the beginning. Bcz as far as I understand increases are done to widen the work but you swatch did not widen?

    I don't even know what you're talkin' about and I'm convinced you are the queen of it. Obviously the queen. I really like that fancy-schmancy knitting you did. I wish I could do it but I have not got the first clue

    • @TheDollyce
      @TheDollyce 2 года назад +2

      Hi KaceeGreer, this is what this is about: a 36 stitch piece filled with several cables (like hers) will be much narrower in width than 36 sts of just stockinette stitch. So when you cast on, you'll only cast on 30 sts. Then on the first row, you'll be using two types of increases to bring the width up to 36 sts which will, for the most part, be cables cables cables all the way across. If you cast on 36 sts at the outset, and then began knitting all of your cables, the cables would suck in narrower, but the cast on row would stick out like a ladies full skirt. The practice of casting on fewer stitches at the beginning, and then increasing when you're going to start those cables is called "cable flare compensation".

    • @kayceegreer4418
      @kayceegreer4418 2 года назад +1

      @@TheDollyce gotcha. I understand that better now but this technique is way far off than what I know to try to do now and at which I still am unsuccessful. I just recently learned that I cast on wrong for the stitches I was going to start with. I like to understand a few things long before I ever try them.

    • @TheDollyce
      @TheDollyce 2 года назад +1

      @@kayceegreer4418 I understand what you mean. I've been knitting since 1971, and these new kinds of increases are totally new to me as well! I think we can pat ourselves on the back for trying new things! You're doing well by trying, even if you think you fail sometimes!
