This is James Bond’s casual Friday sneaker. I mean this isn’t a gym sneaker this is a dressed down dressed up shoe to wear if you have a disposable income.
I own 3 pairs of Crown Northhampton sneakers, and they are stunning. The Horween wholecut model is especially nice. I'm not in the market for $1,000 sneakers, but if I were, this would be it.
No offence ment, but you should tie the laces in a different way, so that they are going left to right instead of up-down direction. Search RUclips, there are plenty of videos.
"Sneakers" ..of course americans say this when looking at this type of shoe ..but for a Brit these are "trainers" ie a training shoe/sports shoe. Northhampton was a center of excellence here in the uk for shoe making as far as history was concerned but sadly not many left here but we do know how to do good footwear.
If you start the knot on your laces by doing your first cross over the other way around, you get a more secure and in my opinion a better looking knot..and yes I’m jealous
@@TheVoltaire1 Why does that make sense for dress shoes and not sneakers? At this price, nothing makes sense. It just about what makes you happy. I like my allen edmonds dress shoes but I wear it twice a year. Why not buy something you can wear much more often?
Those look absolutely beautiful.. But 650 pounds ($870 US) is crazy.. part of it I guess has to do with them being in England and having to import American shell (Horween). If I remember correctly, Rancourt's (Made in Maine) MTO program let's you design a Horween shell cordovan sneaker for ~ $650 US.
For handstitched shell cordovan luxury sneakers made in a first-world economy, £650 is a reasonable price. They will last literal decades making the cost of ownership pretty low vs buying several pairs of cheaper sneakers over the same time period.
These are really cool. I just shined up a pair of Allen Edmonds Shell Cordovan park ave sneakers. Not sure on the recraftability like this Crown pair but they are $525. Still high but wow that's quite a bit less. That is the only other shell sneaker I have seen and wasn't sure if you knew about those.
I don’t mean to be rude or anything, but you tie your shoes wrong, laces when tied correctly, will lay horizontally, not vertically. I don’t really wear dress shoes so maybe they’re supposed to be that way for some reason? Anyways, it should be as simple as changing which lace goes over which when you start the tie (the little twisty bit)
Hey, your baby face is gone! Looks great that beard! But 650 pounds for a pair of (nice) sneakers... nope. I have my Magnanni sneakers, all around 250 euro and they feel and look awesome
@The Kavalier great video but I did chuckle at you holding up the calfskin veg tan sneaker and referring to it as the cordovan. :D It would be great if you could do a follow up to this after a year of wear. Which colorway shell did you review was it the No. 8?
I have a pair of those kind of laces on some Thorogood boots, they're super tough, super thin, flat wax laces. I can cinch up the boots SO tight. But, I cannot find the laces anywhere. Does anyone know where to find these thin flat waxed laces in longer lengths?
Sorry dude. I got distracted by the awesomeness of your beard. Had to rewatch their video again. I wasn't too sure on the fitting so reached out to them about coming into their factory to try a pair on. They advised that the area isn't really ready for customers as it's being refurbed. You said cardovan has to be cared of with different creames etc as for „regular“ leather, but if I choose the white ones with veg tan leather, can I use my regular shoe creams? 😊
They are great sneakers and can be a great value depending on what you place value on. Longevity, high quality of materials, and comfort then this or their more affordable version with other leathers (around $400-420 after VAT refund) make it a great value to me. My overstones have held up for 4 years so far and still look good and are extremely comfortable with frequent use. The common projects last one or two years tops even though they have a nicer silhouette than the crown but are less comfortable.

Wish I could follow you down the road of Crown sneakers but I just can't. I'll pay $900 for a piece of Inuit art - which I have done, several times - but for sneakers, no. Beyond price, they lack a little decorative detail: no exterior heel counter, no crown motif stitched into the side, no loop at the top of the tongue so you can pull it up into the proper position before tying the knot, stuff like that. I have a pair of sneaks by Merrell, made in Cambodia of all places, and they're a nice burgundy satin-finish leather with a very tastey taupe sole and I find them absolutely good enough. You're looking very well, by the way, great complexion, great Irishy beard.
I don’t like crown’s silhouette,I buy shoes more for how they look, nothing beats common project’s silhouette for me and I would rather have them wear out faster as long as it looks better.
Common Projects are too slim for anyone with even a slightly wide foot. I tried on my size and a size bigger and it was either way too tight and the right length or a little tight and way too long.
