We bought a V6 that had one and it always rattled ever since we had it (ever since 2012). When reaching any speed above 60 MPH, it would just start rattling really loud and had to keep grabbing the shifter to stop the noise. Turns out it was super loose, didn't have the rubbers behind the bolts. Did a quick fix with some rubber and tightened both bolts real good. If only I knew it was this easy to fix. Thank you so much.
Excellent video, just ordered one for my wife's '08 and this gave some good pointers. I liked how you omitted the tedious parts, sometimes people show every second of trying to work something into place. Your son's camera work was good too.
@@simcoecountygearheads Whoo! as Ric Flair would say. Put the car up on jackstands and did after watching your video. Shifter went in easy as pie and made a tremendous difference over the factory shifter. Thanks!
Shifter looks good , I like a short throw shifter, I put one in my t5 that I put in the pinto and I have it adjusted all the way down as short as it will go , so now I can: shift with the flick of the wrist 😁🚗💨💨
Looking good ..Why not just get your boy to help you when you need extra hand...He did a great job with the camera...My son also loves the roblox...I dont even bother to ask him for a hand if hes having a serious game of the blox...
wow that shifter is so much better than the OEM one. Im surprised at the difference. I wonder if they make that ring for the boot for a T5... I just have a zip tie holding mine down lol
It's hard to tell on the video but it looks like you've got the ball joint backwards, the serrated/grooved section where the shifter handle mounts should face the passenger side
These things are always harder than they show becuase they want to sale this junk…. It might have been a bit easier if you took the plastic center console off?
Just finished installing my Hurst shifter last night and wow I must say it's a pain to get in. I ended up dropping trans mount by an inch to get it past. But as a question I can go into each year fine but in neutral it doesn't freely move it just stays wherever I put it (left, right, center) is that normal or are the bolts to tight? Just wasn't sure how yours was since you have same car and shifter.

Put some loctite because the bolts get loose over time from vibrations
I had a hell of a time getting that front bolt lined up with the Barton. Well worth the time spent! Day and night difference. Great Job!

Came looking for this since my 2005 GT (same seats. Nice!) shifter has been slop. Excellent video. Thanks.
Nice job ! That bad Larry shifts on a dime now good job filming 👍🔥
Your son did an excellent job as a cameraman! 👍🇨🇦
Awesome job! The shifter looks great. I hope the shifter solved your shifting issues, it looks very comfortable in the car...

Does this shifter work on the t5 trans
No you would need one for the t5 which hurst makes also.

I hate working on the ground makes most stuff much harder

Maybe but I didn’t want to do that 😆
@@simcoecountygearheads i know everything is a pain, but that was only 2 screws to take off
thats still quite a short throw even for a stock shifter!
Are you able to switch the shift knob if you decide to put a new one on it?
Yeah you can change it. Just make sure the thread size is correct on the new knob

It should move freely for sure. Double check everything and go from there
Will this fit v6??
No this is for gt cars only
They made a V6 version, it's harder to find but they're out there. I'm running one right now
