    I may be a little bias, but I own a 94 Cobra. Bought it in 98. Did the basic bolt-on upgrades... cold air, larger throttle body, cam, long tube headers, straight h-pipe, 2 chamber flowmasters. Was my daily driver until 09 when I bought my truck. Had it dynoed at 277 at the rear wheels. Fast forward to now, just last year it started a ticking sound. Didn't drive it much. Just got it over to a shop here in Phoenix and sure enough had a couple collapsed lifters. After 175k miles I'm not mad. After I bought my truck, I drove it hard! Going to have the valve train rebuilt and freshen up the engine. Car and engine is tough as hell! Thanks for the vid!

    Sold my 2004 mustang gt July of 2022. I bought it in 2013. It had 58,000 when i bought it. And 93,000 miles on her when she was sold. Long tube headers, lowering springs, Cai, x pipe with flow master mufflers, racing clutch, short throw shifter, clutch cable adjuster, sound system. The car needed a paint job and the driver seat needed replaced. That's it. Sold for $4,900 to my friend son. And I regret selling that car. 7 months later, the car was in a serious wreak and was total. Broke my heart. I told my wife i should have kept it. Bought a 2010 Mustang gt. But I still miss my redfire 2004.

    To be fair, you can pretty much shove any ford engine in any mustang, mod motors even more so, most of them drop right in, and some of them bolt right up to the transmission with no fuss. Personally my favorite mustang is the early s197 mustangs from 05-09. However like everyone said, that's a highly subjective statement. Infact I've routinely heard from people who HATE the sn95. Personally I'm a fan of the newedges, I like their body lines when lowered. As for engines, the 4v 9 thread heads, but the later ones after the revision are the best, and the best block is the aluminator from the 05-09 GTs are the best blocks, besides the actual terminator engine, or coyote. But the terminator engines are too expensive, and the coyote is over done.

    Good stuff man. Great features. That purple blue one is my fav. Can't believe it burned down and then came back. I graduated in 95,, and I was drawing this mustang in high school based on previews. I just really love them from that perspective. I never have owned one though and that is a shame. I kinda just want to get a rough one with a 6 cyl or swap a newer eco boost 4 cyl and call it a day with some IRS and whatever else it takes. I am old and sick so it is mostly just dreaming because if you can't do the work yourself, kinda hopeless unless you rich.
    But if I was rich not sure I wouldn't just pick a newer stang. Though if something was for sale as nice as that purple one who knows, that thing is amazing. And I wouldn't have to worry about gas prices right? lol

    I like them all, I’ve on a 96 gt now have a Mach 1 dsg.. but for me I’m a s550 guy I have 1 boosted to. I just like the body style of the gen 3’s and the platform is just wild. You have Mach 1, gt350, the Shelby’s. Again I just love the platform and how you can build on the s550… we’re talking sound, speed and power (and really easy to make)! Again for me it’s not close outside of the gen 1s… outside of the terminator’s the sn95 are pretty slow…. Love the looks on them, but they’re not even close to the coyote. The coyote legit changed the game….

      The only thing an old 4v needs to make big boosted power like a coyote is rods and pistons (were talking pre terminator cobras and Mach 1s). It doesn't take much. The coyote is better equipped out of the box it has more displacement, revs, compression, vct, etc as well as a ton of other tech. It's better equipped out of the box but the old mod motors especially 4v can Def hold their own with forged internals especially with a teksid block. People act like whatever an engines capability is on stock bottom end is its only "worth" as if forged internals aren't even a thing. You'd think forged rods and pistons was 10k dollars the way people act lol. It's the age of the swap nobody wants any part of building a motor. They aren't "slow" you're comparing them against engines that came 10-20 years later not really a fair comparison. The 4v is plenty capable. Guys have gone really fn fast with stock block and crank and factory style worked 4v heads. They deserve respect. The gen 3 are overrated and really aren't any better when boosted than a gen 2 coyote. They make more na but the dual fuel and higher compression isn't really needed boosted and a gen 2 can hold just as much power. I also think 15-17 looks better that's just me though. The older cars definately sound better. Even the s197 5.0s sound better apparently its the different exhaust routing. The sn95 and s197 non coyote based mod motors and pushrods all sound killer as they all shared the same firing order and this includes 07-14 5.4/5.8 4v gt500 motors. They make badass torque and sound killer.
      The gen 3 coyote may make power easier up front but the car and engine both cost significantly more and should also be considered. Older 4v may need more engine mods but start out alot less money.

    • @SN95Power
      @SN95Power  9 месяцев назад

      @@midnight347 I think people forget that Sn95 mod motors responds very well to compression. When they came out most didn't build high compression motors. Now with e85 being more available and tuning is better, no reason not to go 12:1 on a 2v or 4v.

    • @petrolhead8851
      @petrolhead8851 9 месяцев назад

      @@midnight347I agree with you 100% ..people think just because you can make big power with a stock coyote that older 4.6 4v’s are considered junk or not worth having as if a forged pistons and rods aren’t a thing, and you’re right about how people just don’t like to build shit anymore! They consider a stock motor with a supercharger a built engine 😂

      @@SN95Poweryes! God damn this is why I love this channel! The ones who know make me feel proud of owning an old sn95! High compression on a 2v or 4v with the right cams, intake, more rpm’s, standalone ecu, and a good e85 tune, these engines will make what a gen 3 coyote can make with fbo, cams and e85, and will knock the dust off some serious cars with a good driver of course

    So the hidden gem of these cars is the Fox chassis, which represents the longest use chassis across all Mustang generations -- 26 years from 79 though 04 -- because of this, you have a ton of suspension options. IRS as you point out, but you have a pick of k-members and the choices are still multiplying. Because so many years and models had this underpinning, you have a catalog of parts that are reasonable -- the pricing is good and the knowledge base on how to use them is very wide. The chassis is simple (some might argue, too simple, but meh, that's an opinion). People know how to manage this chassis and IMHO it's easy to work with. But going with just the 94-04 cars (11 years of Mustang) the interiors are also very easy to work with. There's a lot of choice there and its easy to make it your own. This translates to a lot of fun without breaking the bank and -- don't know if you noticed but I have, the rear seat in these cars, although a bit cramped -- it's still better than anything that came after it.
    They weren't assembled to the same standards as the 05 and up cars -- Ford got better and it's obvious if you have owned anything newer -- but again, you can typically adjust the panel gap easily and as you point out they look great with some minor tweaks. I have owned a 97 GT (wish I still had it), a 2000 GT that I have driven about 190k miles (it's coyote swapped) -- an 04 Mach1 that I traded on an 11 GT500 (again, wish I could have kept it). And I'm working on a barra swapped 2000 6 banger. Across the SN95s I've clocked close to 300k miles. These cars are reliable and fun. They make a great foundation for a project car and because of the engine choices and chassis, they have experience and documentation that you can't easily find for anything else. I think this is a strength that's not obvious unless you've dug in a bit and been there.
    Great video -- have to agree with all your points.

      @SN95Power  9 месяцев назад +1

      Excellent points! A local shop has two Barra engines. One is going in a Fox and he's going to find a Sn95 for the other. Once it's finished he's going to let me review it. I haven't done much research about the motor but I read that it's Ford's 2jz motor. Appreciate your feedback.

    It's all subjective of course, and i even own an SN95 currently, but best generation of Mustang...In my opion no. First generation is best or course. For me after the remodel for 67-68. this guy over here talking about SN95 engine options, lol the 67-68 could have everything from a 289 to a big block 429. Did Steve Mcqueen get the bad guys in an SN95..nope. did Carol Shelby ever touch an SN95...nope. Steve Saleen did, but Steve Saleen is like Carol Shelby from Wish.

      CoolestDudeEver McQueen died in ‘80 not sure what he has to do with this.
      1997 Shelby built the Series 1 Roadster with Olds Aurora V8, which was almost as fast as the 97 S351 Saleen.
      3 years later Saleen came out with the S7 super car the slow version did 200+ naturally aspirated !
      I guess back then Carroll Shelby was like Steve Saleen from Wayfair.
      (Gotta agree 1st Gen was the best of course, no longer affordable like SN95).

      Awd isn't needed to make a badass handling car. It's gonna add alot of weight and complexity to it. You may have an advantage off the line on the street but otherwise rwd can do whatever awd can. People really underestimate what a great handling car you can make out of a mustang. The aftermarket is endless on everything including suspension setups.

      @midnight347 the 99-04 is more popular due to the aftermarket support. The 2000 Cobra R, Terminators, and Mach 1 help support that. Along with the Coyote swaps are a bit easier in those years. I have a 95, last of the push rods, and the aftermarket doesn't seem as strong as it used to be.
