It is amazing how no matter what the video is about, tons of people pop up to make comments about how much better they could do. Then why did you search the video in the first place? Owning a jeep means learning to weld. I have a 93' that has a couple of spots on the frame I am about to fix. When I am done it may look close to something like this and I am fine with that. It is under the vehicle. Don't care about looks, will it hold up is all I care about. Good Job guy.
this frame is going to be just fine now nothing wrong with the job he did for what the jeep was im doing the same thing to a isuzu frame is gone just about as bad as this one if not worse and if you box the frame like this its basicaly like new again the new steel will take the force as long as the welds hold
did u just have a flux welder. and if u got smaller wire, just increase the wire speed and heat?. anyway. nice to see u put the time into it, instead of doing what most people do and junk it.
Let's just say I were going to do this to my 97 tj... would that kind of repair hold up off road? Would you suggest drilling drainage holes to prevent further rusting?
Good job, but bad welds, hope it held up, I have an '82 cj7, has some bad rust, I will be doing a lot of this, but with better welds. I think you definitely need more practice before tackling a job like that.
OK if you do get a New frame for $1200.00 Bucks, (like ANYONE wants to spend that), , Its only what, , 15 minutes to Install it right ? ? ? Oh no wait, , its like a WEEK , and thats if you dont snap one of HOW MANY rusted bolts that are under most Jeeps ? - - Looks like a Budget Job but some people thats all they can do , , give the guy credit for trying it at least
When you said a "customers" Jeep you implied that you do this for a living, get a different line of work because when this frame let's go you are liable for anyone killed or injured, just saying.

i feel so much better about my little dollar bill sized rust problem now, not even 2:00 in lol
That will pass state inspection? Or is it just for offroad use?
What size MIG welder did you use?
I hope you didn't charge for that welding work, it's dreadful.
Peter Hatton this welding job sponsored by Wrigley's Chewing Gum lol
That’s where I stopped watching.

usually you only weld 2 sides (top and bottom) doing the other two sides will just make a point for it to crack ? just my $ .02

that section will be good for another 50 yrs, what type of welder did you use ?
@andrew1jl also did you use something to bend the steel?
Good job, but bad welds, hope it held up, I have an '82 cj7, has some bad rust, I will be doing a lot of this, but with better welds. I think you definitely need more practice before tackling a job like that.
How much does something like that cost?
what does a job like this cost on average?
did you put in any drain holes?
Wow. I would not make a vid of these welds...
nice job,
Did that pass inspection? Do you know
i got a 90 240sx can i fix it just like that i think i can look at my video i have on my channl
whats the cost to fix that?
I didn't think shit rusted in Texas... And why does Jeep put all those holes in their frames for water and debris to get in and rot it out?
little tykes my first welder.....
hey, good work, but you can go on ebay and but a use frame of a jeep and put all the parts from yours , i think it will be time well spend.
Should have purchased brand new frame sections and welded them on, instead of patching. Frame sections are not that expensive.
Thats a Jeep for for you, My 95 is just as bad with low miles.
Mig welding with too fast speed, thats why the welds look like rabbit turds. Else you used flux core.
Why bother that frame is toast wouldn't it be way cheaper and safer to use a clean southern frame ?
its worse on my car:P part of the frame is rusted gone like 1:16 , i gotta fix it this month to pass inspection:S
you never answered if that could pass inspection or not ive got the same problem on my jeep ! it would be faster to do what you did !
+james stokley In Texas if it drives and stops it would pass. I have never know of a station to look at the frame since we are in the rust belt.
thanks
at what point do you just say eff it and get another jeep... this looks like it was a nightmare. =parts jeep, what's good anyways...
Looks like a Toyota quality frame.
sad that my 97 is just as bad...
all welds are boggered......
yeah because every one has 1200 dollars to drop on a new frame
