      Let's not forget Midland running a revised Jordan from 2005, which was a simple evolution of the 2004 car, which itself was just the 2003 car revised. Basically a 3 years old design which was uncompetitive from the beginning, and it kept going another 2 more years as Spyker and Force India... good times :D

    The restricted V-10 was initially for Minardi for 2006 but when Red Bull bought the team which became Scuderia Toro Rosso and is now Alpha Tauri, they used those engines and they had more low end torque than the 2.4 liter V8's which kept Toro Rosso near the points scoring positions that year

The toro rosso str1 doesn’t sound as beautiful as the Ferrari f2004 there ever was meant to be. I can’t do it. It makes me cry so much for the dead engine. The end of the V10 F1 cars’ life until 2006. My favorite:
      Ferrari F2004.
      My personal saddest v10 car I’ve ever heard:
      The Scuderia Toro Rosso STR1.
      I’m sorry for the V10s loss.
      Rest In Peace. Since 2006.

      To be fair the V6 is also kind of restricted. In theory those could rev up to 15000 RPM but they rarely go beyond 12000 due to fuel flow restrictions. It's not like a V6 could ever sound better than this V10 but if they took out the turbo from the V6 and let it rev to over 15000 they would sound miles better too.

    • @Mr.Goldbar

      Cbr 3 The cars were too boring in my opinion. Not as boring as when all the cars started to have the same engines (3.0L V10, 2.4L V8 and 1.6L Turbo V6 respectively), but at least they are faster and made some face melting lap times (I know I'm too young and it's a childish argument, but that's not my problem).
      To me, the best year of F1 of all time was 1986, but I've always said that the V8 era from 2006-2013 is how F1 cars should sound like (because I started watching gameplay of F1 2012 when I was 9 years old, and played it when I was 10)

      Refueling would have to be brought back as H2 gas isn't very containable, and Miles/Per Litre of Hydrogen gas would be low
      Bare in mind Combusting Hydrogen produces its own problems

      That's because it is. Every other team had V8 engines due to the new rules starting in 2006. Toro rosso's V10 therefore was rev limited to match the v8's

      It was not down on power, In fact It had more power (914hp)
      The reason why its slow because it lacks Top end Torque, and It has Intake restrictors

      @GECKOZFTW 5 лет назад +4

      @@agustinmaleh9360 Toro Rosso had no financial problems. The reason they had a V10 in the first place was because of Minardi. Towards the end of 2005, because of Minardi's financial problems, the FIA allowed them to use their V10 from 2005, but to have it rev limited to about 17k, to make sure they had no power advantage. And since Red Bull bought Minardi's assetts and team entry, they were allowed to use V10s.
