I thank the plant shaking guy who pretends to be invisible for helping to deliver one of my favorite SGA episodes. The episode will now be extra special knowing that someone physically went out, risking life and limb, in this CGI storm to rattle a plant on a balcony overlooking a green screened wall.

I remember the Jack's demotion, it was because when RDA came back to film this episode they used old wardrobe for him and after some filming they noticed that there is only one star, they changed it for the rest of the filming but they didn't want to film those "one star" scenes again...

  • @reddblackjack

I know one error made. It's more of a script error than an actual screen goof and I don't know what episode exactly but it was around season four or five. Carter was planning to go on a date with Pete, portrayed by a De Luise brother, and mentioned that Colorado Springs doesn't have a zoo. While it's true there isn't one called the Colorado Springs Zoo, there IS one on Cheyenne mountain. It's actually really close to the base they were at, a few hundred feet. I can literally see both the zoo AND the entrance to the Cheyenne Mountain Complex where the Stargate is supposed to be with a pair of binoculars. The show was filmed in Vancouver and uses a reel of footage of the entrance about a half an hour long. However a little bit of fact checking could have prevented what I consider a grievous error. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is my favorite. It's bigger than the Pueblo Zoo and simply better than the Denver Zoo even though it's not as large. I think this error can still be made up for by having a scene filmed at the zoo in the reboot, if they ever get on with making it.
Thank you, as a resident of the Springs and huge fan of both the show and the zoo, this one's been a personal irk of mine since I noticed it many years ago.

    • @metalzonemt-2
      @metalzonemt-2 Месяц назад +8

      IMDB "incorrectly regarded as goof":
Samantha says that Colorado Springs does not have a zoo. It actually does. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is only a few miles from the Cheyenne Mountain Complex where she works. This was intentional on the part of the producers and the writer to indicate how little social life she has.

While Teal'c and Imhotep are duking it out in Joma Secu, Teal'c gets taken to a knee after a kick and his staff appears broken moments before the staff actually gets broken by an overhead strike. Thanks for mentioning me. I believe the 4x06 Windows of opportunity error happened as they had the half set only according to the behind the scenes which looked like extended in vfx shots. So Malakai's Ancient computer is exactly at the same spot where the stargate stood. This was the reason you could never see the gate and the computer in the same shot. On the other hand, it gave me an idea to check the spikes with the holes if they changed angle. I believe there was a bouncing burning spot on one of the stone, but that has also magically disappeared.
I was more worried about the fake wall set at the C4 scene. If you notice it closely the set pieces making some bouncing movement like in the Matrix. Same happened in the 4x13 Curse when Osiris pushed Janet and Sam to temple's wall.

  • @Powerhaus88

One continuous goof that has plagued SG-1 is the Jaffa staff weapon shots, they sometimes do not align with the length of the staff, they're off angle by sometimes even 10-15 degrees as they leave the "barrel" of the weapon.

    Stargate SG-1 - Season 9 Episode 20 - "Camelot" - Blueray version timecode: approx. 36:29
Samantha Carter is in her astronaut suit initializing the crystal on the Supergate to make it dial. She touches her small touchscreen on her suit to start the synchronization, which then reveals being probably an iPod running MMPlayer, a media player. It is to be seen for a few frames, but reveals itself fully if seen frame by frame.
My assumption is, that the propmaster had to come up with a simple idea on how to simulate an advance system, and using a media recording is a good approach, except the device was registering the touch using the gloves too (I guess those touchscreens were already a bit more sensitive).
Not a big goof, visible only for a few moments, but still caught my eye.

I love it and will definitely look for it. There's some amazing prop choices over the years, including an NES on the wall in one episode and an NES zapper painted as an alien weapon. Fun to spot, though I guess these sorts of things are production "choices" rather than goofs. 😂

Both are clearly in the front seat as you can see the shadow from the windshield whippers, yet neither of them are showing any sign that they are driving the vehicle. Right, in SG-1 "Point Of View", which I just saw a few days ago. It wasn't a ZPM but the power source Jack built using Ancient knowledge. At least a couple of times in Point Of View, it was referred to as an Asgard device.
Also in Point Of View, the two Carters figured out how to reuse the power source for a second dial-out to the Asgard galaxy, but then they never used it to dial Pegasus after that. With all the Jaffa they "felled" over the years, they should have had as many staff weapons with their liquid na'qa'dah fuel cells (a key component of the Ancient power device) as they wanted, plus their own na'qa'dah reactors, for dialing intergalactically.
And what happened to the asteroid with which Anubis tried to kill Earth? It's drifting in orbit around Earth's sun, loaded up with cubic mile after cubic mile of solid na'qa'dah, enough to power thousands of ships and hi-tech devices; but we never heard a peep about Earth laying claim to it or setting up industrial scale mining operations on it...

There's a handful of these that seem to belong squarely on the shoulders of the script writers. Like "Threads" where Jacob and Sam both state that he nearly died 4 years ago, instead of 6.

You have to disconnect your brain for Stargate SG1 and revel in the majesty of it all. It's a stone wheel that spins and flushes sideways like a toilet so that two American Hams, a Cookie Cutter military female in green mom fatigue pants and an over-the-top, branded Vulcan come Chulak"ian Jaffa with a snake living in an open belly wound for about 30 years? INDEED it was shlocky ,sure, but it was what we had. We had TNG and Farscape and Firefly and then we had all three wrapped into Stargate SG2. Jewel Staite, some nepo-fatherism Dom Deluise, Floxx & Trip and Jolene, Jolene, Jolene dont take your love to Chulack Blaylock, Creighton, Claudia Black, O'Neill with 2 ells, a blonde soul stripe, Warlock and Parker Lewis....im sure Armin Schimmerman was in there somewhere. And we loved every episode....Comptria...

How about this goof... When and how did they stop the stargate from being so cold with frost built up on their faces and bodies...

That might make for an interesting video, along with the gate no longer shaking. Not a goof, but a deliberate choice by the writers to evolve things. There's a hint that the frozen face thing is related to their having fixed the rough ride through the gate. Sam's line at the start of "Red Sky" happens while the team is also wiping their faces.

Oh boy, if you want some goofs - just look at every portrayal of Russians in SG-1. And I'm not even talking about Cold War-era stereotypical "bad commies" narrative (sadly, the Russian government is happy to conform to it), but the production team, especially in first seasons, didn't even bother fleshing out the most obvious details like having signs properly translated, etc.
My favourite example is in that episode with replicators on Russian submarine, 4x01. The opening scene features two sailors on Russian submarine (wearing wrong uniform of course), and one of them is speaking straight up pure Ukrainian! I assume the actors are Ukrainian-Canadian, and the casting people thought there's no difference, or the actors themselves might've played it this way for comedic effect, considering overall sillyness of the episode, but considering how bad the portrayal has been throughout the series (even in more "serious" episodes), it's easy to assume that no one actually cared.
Then, when the team boards the submarine, basically every sign is misspelled at best and straight-up incomprehensible gibberish at worst. You can see that a lot later in the season in at 4x07 (Watergate), where often the signs often didn't make any sense, sometimes used random non-Cyrillic characters, and were there just for cosmetics with complete disregard of what's actually written on them. For example, at 01:38 - there's a shot of computer screen showing the map of Russia, and it is supposed to show the names of actual cities (Vladivostok and Magnitogorsk), but it's gibberish with some characters used in Serbo-Croatian Cyrillic script, but not Russian. Also, the map showed Mongolia as part of Russia, like wtf? The gibberish and misspellings persisted in literally every supposedly Russian text ever shown, even in signs as basic as "No smoking".
That's only a few examples. Often the Russians are portrayed in camouflage uniform used in several Warsaw pact countries, but never by USSR/Russia, etc, etc. You really can find goofs every time the Russians are part of the story, and they are used as a prop to look believable enough for American audience without any realism. Basically, that's a textbook example of cultural appropriation, which I'd expect from the writing team (after all, SG-1 is really pro-American and pro-military to the point of being basically propaganda), but I expected better from set and costume designers, etc. Just a very basic research would've solved a lot of those issues, but no one cared at all.
Sorry, it kinda turned into a rant, but I guess it just pains me to see that the creators of Stargate didn't care at all about their non-American fans, including myself. It's just... insulting, really. Not just to Russian audience, but to people from Eastern Europe at large, since I guess we were all "Russians" to the production team.
