That was an incredible match. As soon as we heard that we would be against Warwick, and found out exactly who was on the Warwick team, I knew we would be in for a very tough match. Very well played to the Warwick team. They managed to get lots of extremely fast buzzes. Again I think everyone on our team did very well, especially Sarah on this match given that there were lots of classical music questions. I think it was only after buzzing on Wolverhampton that I realised that we got it past a team based in the West Midlands. I also think I just remembered that methyl orange was a thing before Kang was about to say violet. Near the very end, when Akarapongpisakdi buzzed I felt I was almost about to have a heart attack, since a tie-break would have been incredibly tense in Round 2 (far more so than in our first match). This match definitely could have easily gone either way, and I think Warwick would have gone far had they survived this round, since they were definitely a very strong team. The second round seems like it's going to have a lot of strong teams facing each other and being knocked out, so it seems that from now on every match will be this hard.
Good to hear an opinion from a contestant! Congratulations on winning an exciting round. You smiling all through the rounds you have competed in; obviously thoroughly enjoying yourself!
Good to see Rajan speaking up when teams take time when not needed. I think he has shown a worthy replacement. Anyway Thanks for uploading so quickly each week. It is much appreciated. Many thanks from Holland
They were far from a class act during the quiz, don't you think? Doing everything in their power to waste time as soon as they managed a sizeable lead.
Thanks again, CosmicPumpkin! This was one of those rare times when I picked the winning team before the match, largely by hunch. It was a tale in three parts, really. A runaway by the eventual winners. Then a furious comeback by the losing team. And finally the winning team doing just enough to hold off the losing team. I edited this post to remove any reference to the losing team as 'losers'. They are anything but. Both teams and each individual can be justly proud of their efforts. My best to all of them.
This time Henderson was Trinity's MVP, with Jaksina doing excellent at the bonuses. That's a sign of a well-balanced team, Trinity will probably make the semis
@@Ramboost007 I thought it was a really good sign that they could talk through and reason out answers. It wasn't just knowing single stand-out facts; it was understanding the subject well enough to come to the right answer.
Brilliant, as always, Pumpkin. And special thanks for the subtitles, so that all us "deaf and hard of hearing," old buggers. Can follow along with it...
This host is fantastic. The speed of his questioning added to the thrill. Great second round and really unlucky for Warwick. Imperial still clear favouritesz
Exciting match! At about 10 minutes in I would not have predicted how the last 10 minutes would go or how close things got! Thanks again CosmicP! You make my Mondays bearable, as always!
What a match! It really could have gone either way. Both teams are top notch. However, I absolutely loved how everyone on Trinity (a truly international group this year) contributed in pretty much equal measure. They are definitely my favourites this year! Overall, this was a highly entertaining watch. Cosmic Pumpkin: Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything!
Thank you, CP! I enjoyed that match with both teams pulling wild answers from their clever brains! Banerjee is my favorite contestant of this season. His facial expressions, humility, and amazing answers are delightful!
Well, that wasn't tense 😅! All players notably got at least two starters, and it all coming down to Caramel vs Caramelisation made for an enthralling encounter😯! Feel sorry for the losers, but with the quality we've seen so far in this series, this was a very distinct possibility, and probably won't be the last in this round - bring it on ⚔. Was very nice to see the winners head over after the game - looking forward to see what else they can do in this competition 👍.
Blimey. So harsh on Warwick, who I think could have gone far with a different draw. This series feels very strong though. Don't remember a weak first round winner. We'll likely lose a few could-have-been-a-contenders in the next few weeks. Nice seeing every contestant contributing, though Ms Henderson was MVP here.
Loved this second round match! Felt like a finale. Just when it seemed one sided, Warwick almost pulled a comeback and Akarapongpisakdi was soooo close to go for a tie break. Also loved Henderson getting all the music related questions right. And this Trinity team is so well rounded. All 4 of them get along so well as a team and as mates. And love how each of them celebrates a little when one of them gets a question right.
There were a heavy amount of Art and Classical Music questions in this round. Trinity does a great job talking through their bonus questions and probably got them the win.
Kang displayed a masterclass in time management while in the lead: let Rajan finish reading the bonuses, constantly nominate others, and just delay as much as you reasonably can.
What a nail biting match! Thoroughly enjoyed the tension at the end. Congrats to both teams for an excellent performance, well done to Trinity for their well deserved win.
Lots of comments claiming the last question should have been given. But remember that it is a near 30 minute match. Plenty of little moments throughout that could have been the difference.
I felt it unfair originally, but TBF, as others pointed out, Rajan specifically asked for a 7 letter word which sadly was not given, so fair cop on that last question
as a player, can confirm that we were feeling very stressed as well!! was a super fun match to play though against a truly lovely (and talented) team - glad that people seem to have enjoyed watching it at home too!

Thanks CosmicPumpkin. Can't get this in Texas for any price. This was a tough game. I usually root for the non Oxbridge teams, so this a bit of a heartbreaker. Only 5 more rounds to go 'til I'm caught up.
Because the questions are so long, it must be terribly difficult to pull their attention back to hearing it fully after a good correct or a bad incorrect answer. THE HUMAN psyche is so easily distracted. It is different when the question is …who wrote or what’s the capital of…etc. If you know the answer your brain processes it quicker.
First round is filmed in late February. Highest-scoring losers, second round and first few quarter finals are filmed in late March. Everything after that is in late April.
Rajan starts the question with "What 7-letter word..." Akarapongpisakdi probably remembered this in the middle of saying "caramelization" and immediately realized the fuck-up. Kang remembered and saw that "caramel" was 7 letters and got the win

This is a quiz, not a concert!
Well, that’s cleared that up 😊.
Poor Akarapongpisakdi, close to weeping over that crucial error at the end!
It was like they ran out of hypoid gear oil or something.
And so so close to the actual answer. Heartbreaking.

Have found him a dull quiz master but he has become far more lively of late.
"This is a quiz not a concert!" is definitely something Paxman could have said. Maybe he even said it once!
Notice, towards the end of the credits, the leaving of seats and walking across to offer a commiseratory handshake? A class act. Respect.

On the critical final question caramelisation should be correct. It cost Warwick the game.
