Remember folks, only Starscream had Null Rays. Thundercracker had flame throwers and Skywarp had variable-caliber machine guns. In the cartoon, everyone had the same beam weapons until the plot called for their special abilities.
Thundercracker had incendiary guns that fired explosive ceramic bullets. I'm glad you pointed out the null ray thing though, as it's a pet peeve of mine. Technically in jet mode they're cluster bombs too, whereas the other guys had heat seeking missiles and drone rockets.
I love how diaclone figures can fit in it, and it actually looks like a F 15 eagle from a certain angle. Definitely getting it when I have the opportunity to

This thing looks PERFECT! Disappointed we are not getting other characters like a MPC Jazz, MPC Galvatron or more MPC Dinobots but I have to give credit where credit is do and this MP-52 is pretty amazing.
Not sure if I saw it correctly, but for a brief moment as you went over articulation, it looked like the knee ratchets were just a bit soft to where it could get floppy over time.
I hope the manual for this guy has some imagery from the show to explain that _*ONE NAGGING THING*_: when did Starscream, Thundercracker, or Skywarp (or even Ramjet, Thrust, or Dirge) ever actually HOLD their guns like regular guns??? Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly or just plain forgott, but the only handheld gun I ever recall ol' Screamer using WAS Megatron's gun mode.
This looks pretty cool (that neck joint is pure jank and even worse than MP44 & MP47), but for me personally, I think that I'll stick to the MP11 mold...specifically, the KOs by BB7 aka Yes Model.
in the first episode the seekers used the weapons as a hand held gun. Even though they were already attached to the arm they would just pull them off and use it like a gun. Not sure why they couldn't just aim their arm up like the basically already do, but that's how it was in the first episode

Takara really nailed mp 52 starscream. Now can't wait for the deformation space ver. It's gonna be a mp 44 vs te 01 again which is a win win for us consumers. Great video as always man just hoped you showed him with mp megatron and shockwave.

Why did they go with a faux chest again. Lame. I was excited till I saw that. That seems to be not needed since the cockpit still fits in that area.
It looks like they made parts overly complex that shouldnt and cheaped out on areas that should be more intricate.
I've been reading about cracks on the TFW message boards, especially under the blue vertical stabilizer, should we be worried at all about brittle plastic? Also, is the gray lighter or darker, it seems to vary from video to video and picture to picture.
The gray is darker, it might be my lights are too bright, I don't have any cracks so far
First review on MP52!! It certainly has it’s plus points but….how is going to stack up against Maketoys Howling Meteor. Looking forward to the comparisons. Thanks for getting this review out so quickly and mastering the transformation. Keep up the great work on keeping us collectors informed
I think the wings are meant to clip to the side near the top, unless I missed you doing that step. Any cracks on yours? A fair few people have reported them so far, so I'm a little concerned for mine given how much it cost me.

I would have loved to have seen the flight stand in clear plastic. Also, the stand looks like it’s barely able to hold Starscream’s weight.
In robot mode the stand is useless, unless you want him in a pose similar to being thrown. In jet mode only a few ways are useful, most of them involving tightening the screws after you put it in a position you want, and others wishing the stand could extend. But once you find the position you want him in, you find the thing covering his belly cockpit will quit on you if you want the nose point slightly up or more, so buy a better stand if you can cause this one is not to be trusted. But it's a beautiful purple though.
Mine has been displayed on the stand beautifully for 3 weeks in jet mode, not sure what your experience was but mine is great

Looking at the review so far, and something that does stick out to me are the knee ratchets, are they loose?
Not loose, certain positions the weight of the back can make it unstable but mostly it's fine
I've got this fella coming this week too!!! I think I'll keep the TT in robot mode and my Maketoys in jet mode? Undecided... anyway... great review!!!

I think it's impossible to add a waist swivel because the way it's transforms. Better than nothing I guess

Does he have any diecast? My biggest gripe about modern Masterpieces is how fragile they feel (and, in some cases, how fragile they actually are).
Now much, a little hardware but mostly plastic
it has a really nice weight to it though

Mine is on the way! This mold looks to be more solid than the maketoys mold (I have their dirge) so that should make him king for now!
The deformation space comparison will be interesting. I will probably end up getting both :p Although I might wait for some DS recolors... especially if they announce some less common jets like sunstorm/acidstorm/etc
Can you tell if this is made in China or Vietnam? I always worry about shit made in vietnam after hound...
I don't believe this was made in the same factory as hound, but I have no idea

Does he hold pose? Think bobby skullface had weak joints / ratchets and barely couldn't stand

Takara Tomy I wish zoids would really capitalize on the tactics they're designed for (like hit and run for speedy zoids, long range sniping for snipers, mid range for armament Zoids, and close combat for physical and bladed Zoids, etc). This is why I still go back to play Zoids: Battle Legends.
Takara tomy i wish you would combine what you did for Zoid's wild blast and Zoids battle legends and have it be first person shooter like.And have 1v1 mode and 4 v 4 modes and missions.

in my opinion, the MakeToys Meteor figure would probably be a good substitute, similar with how Transform Element OP-Leader is a good replacement for MP44

I'm not a big plane guy but I think those engines are not at all accurate to a real f15

Just received mine. Wow, I find the jet mode really fiddly. The stand has a hard time staying tight enough to hold him in an interesting angle.
You can tighten the screws on the stand to make it hold better
I've tightened them almost to the point of stripping already. It's the side to side one I am having problems with.
The best way to do it is loosen it all the way out, move the joint, then retighten. If that doesn't work then you can simply put floor Polish in the rotating joints, I am working on a fix video for Starscream and will cover that fix as well
I have some kiki joint fixer I was going to put in. Just annoying that I need to do that at this price point.

I was so excited for this figure but having it in hand I am so unimpressed. Loose parts like thrusters, fins, the wings, and panels in jet mode that move around if you lightly touch them. Thin fragile parts and a few steps in transformation that are just scary and might eventually break if transformed more times, and then loose ankles and intakes by the head in bot mode. His thumbs not moving makes open hand poses look goofy too. I'm honestly just not happy with it for the hefty price tag it had.

Good solid review. Personally I’m not a fan, proportionally he just looks off to me. His heads too big, I don’t like how far back his side air ducts are, and his thighs look way out of proportion. I like the gimmicks accessories, and the engineering to hide the cockpit internally, and the hands look more natural. Think I’ll wait for FT to give it a go, I know that’ll be a while but their aerialbots will be the foundation for the design I think.
I also didn't like the proportions but as soon as I had it in hand that all went away

The legs aren't nearly as bad in pics and video as it is in person, I had the same concern but now I forgot about it

On it's own, it looks like a really great figure, alt mode is okay-ish. I was expecting a much more fiddly transformation so that's a plus! Colors and paint look a beauty. Definitely think this is back to form over MP Arcee.
The only thing that gives me pause is what you're paying for for what you're getting. They're asking the high end premium price of fanstoys...but it doesn't seem like it has the sturdiness or the quality of materials FT has. If they dropped some of the accessories and knocked $75 off I'd say it's a no brainer for me.
It'll be interesting to see how this compares with Deformation Space's TE design. Need a new Screamer and Skywarp and I don't like buying recolors. More than likely I'll buy the MP mold for one character and the DS mold for the other...both will look pretty good next to my MT T-cracker I think.
in my opinion, a good substitute is the MakeToys Meteor
I do like the slimmer legs a little more than the MT Screamer.
I know it's crazy, but has anybody tried to open up the faux chest to reveal the real cockpit in robot mode?

You guys might slap me if you knew some of my tf ebay mistakes, but Ill get there one day! I have had good orders from Terry's TF club, and I was able to order some older Fanstoys from Cheertoys (China ebay) with success. Just FYI

Are the knees crap on this guy? You barley touch him and he wants to fall down.. After a few reviews I have seen thinking about canceling my pre order. The cost VS quality is not adding up. But thanks for the review
My knees are ok, but I have heard a few people complain, at the very least the QC seems inconsistent
I know some people have been whining he's not tall enough but Starscream isn't that tall to begin with. IDK where people got this idea that he's tall but he's really not. They got his height damn near spot on.

Justifying the version 2.0 title
I see some loose parts and some parts that come undone easily, not to mention THE FAKE COCKPIT WHEN THE REAL ONE IS RIGHT THERE. I could have forgiven those, but not at that price point, _specially since he doesn't even have waist rotation_ .
Sure, some things are nice, but not enough to out weight the bad parts.

You made "Chicken Run" mode. Gerwalk mode has to have his arms out.

nice informative review, so thumbs up on that, thumbs down on the figure itself, just don't see the price for what it is, it's like they had to throw in all theses gimmicks, most of which will remain in the box. There's just not enough to it to make it worth it to me, personal opinion.

If this was not worth like a gazillion dollars I would buy one hey!! What gets me is they can make a toy like this but we get metal space aliens that are not like this in the Bayformers movies.. but toys can do it hey!! Bumblebee showed us we need a bit of G1 but by gosh do we need G1 on the silver screen as a live action movie.. lets hope they do it with the beast wars crossover hey!! Just imagine sending this back to the 1980's when all this started and what people would think of it hey!!

My chief complaints 1) PRICE POINT = OUTRAGEOUS 2) has a Barrel Chest - looks out of proportion 3) Head appears to BIG for body 4) Although lower legs look great - legs overall look disproportionate aka spindly & 5) His overall Size is just too small - Engineering is clever however
Verdict: Overall Disappointment - will wait for a KO should he get made - my choice would be MakeToys
Another figure with the EXTRA parts (cockpit cover) for robot mode. Such a downside.
They did all this work to make him Toon perfect and still can't pull off a waist swivel. SMH. Still Maketoys for me.
He DOES have a little hint of a waist swivel BUT you have to untransformed the figurr a little bit
