Everyone, please ignore GC’s approach to applying chain wax!!! That’s not how to do it. Not even remotely. Please follow the Silca application instructions.
Right. You did alert people that it’s not how to use Silca Super Secret. Might have been better to edit the entire piece out. Only because you still show people how you do it “in a rush” which means viewers will follow your example. Unfortunately your quick approach does nearly nothing. It does not remove the shimano packing grease and the drip wax is rendered useless. Either show people how to actually do it right or don’t use it at all. Love your videos. I do. I’m an evangelical for chain waxing and I want everyone to see how easy it is to do it right. But, you have to go slow up front to go fast in the end.
I feel like latex is becoming less beneficial and more companies are focusing on tpu, tpu is almost the exact same benefit to a latex tube in terms of rolling resistance, but then it is also lighter then latex, I dont know the exact numbers but a good amount
@@GCPerformance18 maybe just swap a lighter wheelset to weight and see how much potentially the weight can be reduced? Most people will upgrade the wheels eventually.

at top tier prices thatis pretty good, and honestly the hambini bb is 300 and that adds weight so really you could go without it and get 500 to loose a pound, but that is great fo rthis price..... I know people dumping 3000 for cranks at top tier levels just to save a quarter of apound
How much does it cost to lose 1 pound of body weight? Have you achieved the ideal cycling weight for your physiology? Most have not. The person in the video could certainly lose at least 10 lbs.
Dura Ace bottom brackets cost about $60. Hambinni bottom brackets cost $300. WTF? (the engineers at Shimano obviously have some different ideas about what makes a good bottom bracket)
@@GCPerformance18 no it won't because the wax will not penetrate the chain rollers or stick to the chain because of factory lube. Therefore there will be no benefits from silca secret lube. That mainly are better components lifespan due to lower friction and longer run on one lubricantion. The guy from zero friction cycling or john frim silca are quite clear about it. Your bike here is no exception.
I want to stay true for my ride review of this bike so I will ride like this for another 7 rides and get a good feel to give a stock feel on this bike and to see if these upgrades are good enough without wheels

I dont think its fair to sya that schwalbe tires are slow when you're comparing a low end tire vs a high end Vittoria that costs 3x as much. The equivalent schwalbe pro one tires are better than the Vittoria.
I mean im calling them for what they are, they are a stock low end tire and i am saying to upgrade to a fast tire, something that costs money but will make a difference for sure, so in this instance it is slower tire
my bike, my chain, had stock lube, I used citrus degreaser to get off the sticky shimano stuff, sprayed alchol on there to dry off degreaser, and then applied my wax lube heavily and it works and does the job, I am so suprised how many people got triggered by this, I obviously can do a whole clean and remove properly and re apply. but this will work, the differen between this and a proper way to do it, I would almost bet is the same between a normal puley system and a ospw..... it is so marginal, the wax dried the chain is quiest it is shifting like butter and feels better shifts then stock lube
Dude!!!!! That part of the video where you clean the chain with a rag and apply the “super secret” was pitiful!!!!!!! You don’t clean a chain with a rag! This amateur at least! Thumbs down!!!!
He said if it was a customers bike he’d use an ultrasonic cleaner. Why do you give AF how he cleans his own bike. Maybe he’ll give you a job since you’re the expert
@@Chris-ho4ki , It does NOT matter... as an example, he should NEVER clean a chain like that in a video because people will think that this is the way he really does it when customers are not looking! As a professional, he must set an example even though it is his own gear! Thumbs down! TWO THUMBS DOWN ACTUALLY!
So like i said in this video, this is something that I did for my bike, it is a wax based lube, I cleaned the chain with a citrus degreaser inside a rag to strip away the stock sticky lube from shimano..... it removed everything on there that I wanted then I sprayed even more alchol to strip away the degreaser from the chain, I applied the lube heavily on there and it is a wax base lube so it will dry over the alcholed chain, the drivetrain rode very efficient today the shifts were quiet and amazing, felt less resistant then the stock lube...... now I am sure the difference between what I did and and doing an ultrasonic cleaner (which I do to customers bikes) but the difference in watts you gain are so marginal, you, yourself would not even feel the difference nor would it effect your personal ride in anyway..... I could argue to say what you eat is effecting your bike riding more then how I lubed that chain in this video on my personal bike because i didn't want to ultrasonic a chain late a night..... this weas just me choosing the lube I wanted and had not a lot to do with the point of the video.
@@GCPerformance18 , don't get offended. As a professional, it does not matter that you do it on your bike and say on the video that you do it the right way on your costumers' bikes... You are a professional and must do it the right way AT ALL TIMES IN YOUR OFFICIAL VIDEOS otherwise people who does not hear you saying that it is your bike and you do it on your bile alone, will think you do it on any bike including yours! NEVER EVER DO ANYTHING UNPROFESSIONAL ON VIDEO EVER THOUGH IT IS YOUR OWN BIKE. There are a lot of bad people out there and they can extract part of your video showing you wiping out a chain with degreaser (which is disgusting bad job) and publish it out of context... etc etc etc etc etc... Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah! My GF and I have the Polygon S7 (Strattos) with a beautiful red and black! Awesome video!
very ncie!!! I did these changes and i was so surprised with how this bike responded
Ever consider reviewing gusto bike? Their latest line up looks interesting!
they look so nice!!! and badass, I never heard of them but I do not know how to get my hands on them
Would you happen to have a link for the TPU tubes and the tires?
Also, super weird they don’t have a drain port. Dat was a lotta watta!
yea I am about to break out the drill lol
tires and tubes will be on thje website very soon bicyclegeneration.bike keep an eye out tires are called vittoria corsa pro and tubes are ridenow tpu tubes ultralight
Ali Express for the Ridenow tubes
I've checked that bike out before. The largest size they make is a 56 though. I need a 58.
no they make a 58 in it now
I need some of those innertubes🔥
thos tubes are insane value it is a game changer
Everyone, please ignore GC’s approach to applying chain wax!!! That’s not how to do it. Not even remotely. Please follow the Silca application instructions.
I even said that in the video. I said this is not how to do it. It’s just how I do it quickly
Barring weight. TPU over Latex?
I feel like latex is becoming less beneficial and more companies are focusing on tpu, tpu is almost the exact same benefit to a latex tube in terms of rolling resistance, but then it is also lighter then latex, I dont know the exact numbers but a good amount
Latex has the better ride feel
Is it alloy frame? I'm just surprised weighs 7.7kg without dropper on it
hahahhaha nope carbon, those wheels are heavyyyy
@@GCPerformance18 must be, was surprised carbon bike be that much without lots of on bike weigh it down
@@GCPerformance18 maybe just swap a lighter wheelset to weight and see how much potentially the weight can be reduced? Most people will upgrade the wheels eventually.
But, that bottle cage can be swapped for something carbon and save another 20gr or more..
this is true but i wantred to keep it same for sake of video
Nice upgrade. I bet wit some better wheelset like the DT Swiss 62...you will shave some more off.
oh 1000 percent but i want to be true to the reide review video and only change out resonable items that normal consumers could do without breaking the bank
800 dollar upgrade to save 1 pound on a 18 pound 6300 dollar bike. Meanwhile I paid 500 dollars for a 15 pound (with pedals) Supersix Evo Hi Mod with 46mm Reynolds.
at top tier prices thatis pretty good, and honestly the hambini bb is 300 and that adds weight so really you could go without it and get 500 to loose a pound, but that is great fo rthis price..... I know people dumping 3000 for cranks at top tier levels just to save a quarter of apound
Where can I buy that brand new $500 15lbs SS Evo bike?
@@Dee-Ell you can't. But I did. Got two in fact. They weren't brand new, but I don't care for overpriced new crap
Weight savings. yaaaaaaas
im an addict what can I say
How much does it cost to lose 1 pound of body weight?
Have you achieved the ideal cycling weight for your physiology? Most have not. The person in the video could certainly lose at least 10 lbs.
Why do you care what people chose to do with their extra money?
Same old boring question. The bike is our toy, it's not all about performance gains, it's about enjoying a hobby.
imagine you get lighter and then also get your bike lighter too, it is the win win
fuggin truth!!
Ideal cycling weight? What’s that. If I get to that number I’d be beaten up every week looking that frail. Lift weights, ride, be strong. 🌍☃️😝
Just skip breakfast for a few days 😊
hahahah truth no lie
Specialized hate my weight weeny tip which is to take a shit pre ride and then you'll be lighter for free 😂
but if you take a shit and then do what I did in this video it is double weight performance
@@GCPerformance18 Bingo!
Dura Ace bottom brackets cost about $60. Hambinni bottom brackets cost $300. WTF? (the engineers at Shimano obviously have some different ideas about what makes a good bottom bracket)
Hahahaa
bro 18 lb with dura ace is crazy
That bottle cage is 60 grams minimum
lmao bike is a little chunky
Bro you need to take this chain and cassette and give it a good bath. The rag won't work
...... it will work no problem, there is no issue with how I cleaned it, this is not the proper way to do so but for my bike it will work
@@GCPerformance18 no it won't because the wax will not penetrate the chain rollers or stick to the chain because of factory lube. Therefore there will be no benefits from silca secret lube. That mainly are better components lifespan due to lower friction and longer run on one lubricantion. The guy from zero friction cycling or john frim silca are quite clear about it. Your bike here is no exception.
naw... what you meant to say was... just buy a specialized.. they are the BEST bikes.
I have one coming very soon
Wheels upgrade next i guess
I want to stay true for my ride review of this bike so I will ride like this for another 7 rides and get a good feel to give a stock feel on this bike and to see if these upgrades are good enough without wheels
When GC Performance says (SAVE A POUND!) British riders are like🤔🤨"does he mean weight or money?"
hahah if I say kilo all the americans dont understand the conversion
@@GCPerformance18 only the drug dealers know kilos
Change the brake discs for some 160 or 140 galfer......with the road bike you don't brake😂😂
yes this is something else, even go carbon ti lol but I am fine right now with that weight the bike rode amazing tofay on it, felt like a whole new bike
I’ve never seen a bike take a piss on a ship floor 😂
hahahhaha, its been holding it in for a long time lol
where is the GC MTB doppelganger?
hahahaha who is that?
@@GCPerformance18 i was hoping you might know. i need a GC mtb analog to cover my other riding bases...
9:49 WTF
hahahahhah the frame does not drain water very well
What's the weight difference between a 28 or 30 gp5000 and a 25?
I honestly do not know off the top of my head, but some tires are massive weight savings compared to others, especially going from a non hookless tire to a hookless tire
Answer to 25mm and 28mm gp5000 tan wall can be found on my channel 😅
Lol I went to specialised certini today in Bristol uk I witnessed for the first time properly the new sl8 tarmac. I was speechless how ugly was compare to the previous model the front end look like had have an encounter whit Mike Tyson on his prime lol not for freedom il get that bike RIP THE OPD VENGE THE ONLY BIKE WHO RUN ALL OF THE REST…
hahahahha yea I feel like we have a lot of people waiting for a true aero bike, specialized down here is getting killed for a true aero bike
replace the bottle holder and you'll save the same weight... LOL
no bottle at all lol
👏👏👏👌
:))
Please remove the stickers from rotors. 😉
hell no
All is good but come on. Why even bother with that $$$$ Silka stuff on still VERY dirty chain??? And you didnt even touch the cassette.
my bike, my chain, had stock lube, I used citrus degreaser to get off the sticky shimano stuff, sprayed alchol on there to dry off degreaser, and then applied my wax lube heavily and it works and does the job, I am so suprised how many people got triggered by this, I obviously can do a whole clean and remove properly and re apply. but this will work, the differen between this and a proper way to do it, I would almost bet is the same between a normal puley system and a ospw..... it is so marginal, the wax dried the chain is quiest it is shifting like butter and feels better shifts then stock lube
I’ll take those old tires if you don’t want em lol
hahaha I will hold on for a little bit longer
After watching I decided to become vegan and rim breaks and homosexuality
lamo
TWO THUMBS DOWN ACTUALLY!
lmao thank you
So like i said in this video, this is something that I did for my bike, it is a wax based lube, I cleaned the chain with a citrus degreaser inside a rag to strip away the stock sticky lube from shimano..... it removed everything on there that I wanted then I sprayed even more alchol to strip away the degreaser from the chain, I applied the lube heavily on there and it is a wax base lube so it will dry over the alcholed chain, the drivetrain rode very efficient today the shifts were quiet and amazing, felt less resistant then the stock lube...... now I am sure the difference between what I did and and doing an ultrasonic cleaner (which I do to customers bikes) but the difference in watts you gain are so marginal, you, yourself would not even feel the difference nor would it effect your personal ride in anyway.....
Just don't do it anymore... If on video, do it the right way always or don't do it!
