I got tired of being ignored by the repair man and did this on a whim. Thanks Big Al! I have never done this before, and my father was wary, but I sure showed him!
I watched your video 3 to 4 times, maybe 5 times. I was able to replace three bathroom sinks and faucets and install new faucet to pedestal bathroom sink. All the sinks had to get new drain pipes too. I have utility tub to replace too. Waiting for order to come in. I waited for plumber but he was no show or response after giving me estimate for two sink replacements. Had sinks and faucets sitting around for a while waiting for plumber. After saw your video, I got enough courage to try it. I read the comments too which were helpful - attach faucet to sink first before putting sink into the counter. Thank you VERY VERY VERY much for making this video and the people who shared tips through their comments. I saved almost $1300 just on labor fees for 5 sinks. I purchased the materials...sinks (not cast iron sinks), faucets, and drain pipes and p traps and waste connectors. So far no leaks on the 4 sinks I did after watching your video. Can you do a video re how to replace a shower stall faucets (mine are over 40 years old). I am still trying to get a plumber. Thanks.

Thank you Big Al for this video. You remind me of my father, who was a handyman/plumber. He passed away almost 7 years ago. I wish I would have learned more from him and his expertise! I will be tackling a sink replacement this weekend with your great video. Thank you!
"Big Al" this is a great video. It helped me install three sinks in the bathrooms. The replaced sinks were 20-plus-year-old cast iron which rusted out, leaking from underneath the return drain -- all within a month of each other! For myself, I've found that hooking up the water lines to the faucet BEFORE you drop in the sink is most helpful. Otherwise you have to squeeze underneath and try to work pliers or a wrench under more difficult circumstances. (Less cussing for my wife to hear.)
@Tom. Thanks so much for your comment and suggestions. I wish you the best on your next DIY project hopefully there's not too much cussing. Haha. Thanks again

I've put in a bunch of sinks for a local good works agency. I've learned (the hard way!) to install as much as possible - hoses, drain, etc - before I put the sink into the hole. If I don't have that opportunity, I tighten the upper nut of the hoses with a basin wrench. Makes it much easier than getting my hand and a wrench into that tight space. For my personal work, I always change out multi-turn valves to quarter-turn angle stops. They seem to hold the ability to shut off much longer. Thanks for a nice job!

Thanks! I'm a stay at home, homeschooling mom trying to figure out which of these fixer-upper things I can actually do myself, instead of my husband having to after work or shelling out for a plumber. You made this task so much less intimidating! I'm almost ready to tackle the bathtub too!
Awesome video! I'm a guy who has done this, but not often enough to ever explain it as well as you did! I watched the video just to make sure my old brain wouldn't leave out any steps. Your process outline is outstanding!
@Kindle. Thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with your repair. Give us an update when you finish. Vancouver Island is on my bucket list of places to visit. Thanks again.
I followed along today and replaced my bathroom sink. Very helpful video. One thing though, at 2:30 no need to remove the old pipe since the new faucet kit has a new pipe and stopper in the package.
@T Sav. Thanks so much for your comment. Great point. You are correct. You do not need to remove the drain pipe since we are not reusing it. Thanks again and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al repairs.
Awesome video! Just a little tip to add on, before you glue the sink onto the table/counter? You can connect the faucet pipes and the metal pop-up first. So that you don’t have to work under the sink for too long.
I second that statement, after you put the faucet on the sink you should have put the fill lines on and the pop-up assembly prior to putting the sink in the hole.
This sink is almost exactly like my current sink. All the other videos show a modern undermount, which mine is not. Thanks to this video,I am no longer intimidated and know what type of sink to look for, what tools I need and have the steps to follow! Thank you for making this process understandable!!!!
Awesome video, my husband and I swapped out one sink because it was rusting and decided to do the other because it turned out to not be that hard to do afterall. Thanks for taking the time to make the walk through
Just came upon this video and noticed the sink and faucet are exactly like what was installed in our bathroom when our home was built in 1982. Sometimes the original stuff lasts longer than you'd think it could.

We are surprising my wife and little girl so when they return from their camping 🏕 week, they will be surprised. We really appreciate your time and effort for this beautiful video!!!! From Oregon!!!
Ugh... Those plastic $7 Home Depot drain assemblies... Just finished up a job where I fought leaks with one of those for an hour - ended up going back to buy the brass model and that worked first time. Thanks for the video.
@David Witkowski. I'm sorry your plastic plumbing did not work out for you. There are several options you can go with when plumbing sinks. Best of luck with your next diy project. Thanks for your comment and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al repairs.

This was very helpful, thank you! Did you re-install the clips that were removed from the old sink? Our new sink did not come with clips so I'm trying to figure out if the clips are required or not. Thanks for your advice!
@Melissa M I did not use the cliffs because our sink did not come with them. Make sure you use a good adhesive caulk to put between your sink and countertop to secure it. Thanks for your comment and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs.

I really like this video. It's very true to life. It deals with what most of us are going to have to contend with when doing this - basically worn out, seized up pre-historic shit. I hate those videos that have squeaky clean smiley talking heads that tell you how easy something like this is and then proceed to take apart something that's brand new!!!
Fantastic Job! From start to finish...every step covered. I’ll go a little further and thank you for keeping it all about the project and not about yourself. First video I’ve consulted before I begin and I think I can stop here. Thanks again.
Thank you for all the detailed info. I'm tackling this project this weekend. Of course since it took you approx 1/2 hour it will probably take me 4 times as long, but it'll get done!
Nice! Good luck!! We wish you the best of luck with your project! I am sure you can get it done quick! Thanks for the nice comment and thank you for watching!
I actually just got to it yesterday. Overall it went well thanks to this video, which I used to walk me through it step by step. I had this exact sink and had to remove the clamps underneath without channel locks - forgot to buy them. Doh! But I got it off and installed the new sink with only one extra trip to Home Depot lol. I had tried to re-use some of the drain package components but they were not compatible with the new parts I had bought, so had to buy a whole new drain package, which fit better. I only have a slight drip in the nut area where the pivot ball is that I have to address tomorrow, and the lever is a little tight to pull up and down, but nonetheless the whole project went pretty smoothly! Took me (a true amateur) around 3 hours from start to finish, which I consider a success!
That is amazing! I am so glad you were able to complete your project with success! Thanks for the update and for commenting! I have made plenty of trips to Lowe's in my day, so I know how that goes! Again thanks for the update! It was fun to hear about your project.
Good job Al. Only thing is I would have left the drain tail on since you weren’t reusing it. One other thing, is put the braided supply lines on with the faucet to make it easier when set in. Thanks for your video.

Thanks for the video. I successfully replaced my drain and faucet. I'd like to point out what I learned during this project: 1. I replaced a 19" round sink with another 19" round sink. The original sink had clips holding it secure, but the cutout was 18" in diameter, and the replacements sinks all specified the size of hole around 17" I tried to contact someone with no luck. I found out that the size of the cutout is not critical. 2. The sink instructions has a note"It is recommended that you let the sealant dry for 4 hours before connecting the fittings to the supply lines and the drain. This may cause the bowl to shift from the original position. This may cause the bowl to shift from the original position." I didn't wait, and the bowl shifted, messing up my caulking job. 3. When I replaced the stopper assembly, it looked like I couldn't get all the plumbers putty off and it just looked yucky. I tried to remove the plumbers putty with a knife, and found out that the problem was that the stopper assembly has a protective layer of thin clear plastic, that you had to remove -- the instructions didn't say anything about this. It's now nice and shiny. 4. The new faucet had shorter inlet connectors. I replaced the original semi-rigid inlet tubing with flexible tubing wrapped with metal braid. 5. The drain from the sink was too close to the wall, and I couldn't connect the U-trap. After scratching my head, I pulled out the plastic drain pipe going into the wall, and cut off about 1" with a hack saw -- hooked everything up again, and no leaks -- works perfectly.

Thanks so much! Great tutorial! Changed our double vanity sinks and faucets that were rusting and leaking with a breeze thanks to this vid! One thing I would mention, we didn’t realize the water lines could have two different sizes on either end. Our connector to the valve was a 3/8 in and the new faucet was a 1/2in (originally the same Copper you showed). Lesson learned though! Thanks again!

Removing the old toilet was much more difficult than installing the new one (rusty bolts). You make the faucet removal look easy, so here I go. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks!
@Ellen. Thanks so much for your comment. I hope things turned out well on your sink repair. Let us know how it turned out.
Thank you for making this easy to understand and going slowly and showing each step with pictures. Much appreciated!!!!!
Thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with your next DIY project and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
Thank you so much, for a nice video! I will try by myself! You are wonderful for explainer
Thank you for posting this video. I will be replacing my wife's sink in the next few days. The sink plug I have is spring loaded so I don't need to replace the little contraption that raises and lowers the plug. Otherwise everything seems to match the parts I have. Thanks !
Pc1512, thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with your DIY project. Please give us an update. Thanks again for watching BigAlrepairs and hopefully you subscribe.
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen! I’m moving into my first home in a few days and it needs some updates. I want to save as much money as I can by doing some of the work myself. After watching this video I feel like I can replace the sinks in the bathrooms. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for the nice comment! Congrats on your first home! Homeownership can be a lot of work but it is great when you can do the project yourself! Good luck with all your projects!
Thank you for sharing this educational video of this really helped out a lot and I appreciate you for this information 💪🏿👍🏿👌🏿💯

Thank you so much for the comment and for watching! We appreciate the nice comments! I hope your project goes well and is successful.
Please let us know how your project turns out. And thanks for your comment and good luck on your do-it-yourself project.
This was such a good video I think I can do this myself. Thank you.
Thanks for the nice comment! You can do it! Let me know how it goes!
Thank you so much! After years of a rusted out sink, we are finally going to replace it instead is buying a whole new vanity.
@Maria. Thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with your DIY project.
Thanks! I'm a stay at home, homeschooling mom trying to figure out which of these fixer-upper things I can actually do myself, instead of my husband having to after work or shelling out for a plumber. You made this task so much less intimidating! I'm almost ready to tackle the bathtub too!
Thank you so much for your comment. Best of luck with your next DIY project and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
Awesome video! I'm a guy who has done this, but not often enough to ever explain it as well as you did! I watched the video just to make sure my old brain wouldn't leave out any steps. Your process outline is outstanding!
@David. Thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with your project. I hope that all goes well and hopefully you subscribe to big Al Repairs.
Well, I'm taking in this project this week! Thanks from Vancouver Island B.C.! Great detail. Thank you sir!
Thank you very much from a 61 year old grandmother that needed help
@Tina. Congratulations on your repair. That is so awesome. I hope things turned out well for you. Best of luck with your future DIY repairs.
me too!
Awesome video! Just a little tip to add on, before you glue the sink onto the table/counter? You can connect the faucet pipes and the metal pop-up first. So that you don’t have to work under the sink for too long.
Thanks so much!
Thank you for the nice comment! Good luck with your project! Hope it is helpful!
Thank you! I'm getting ready to do this and this is the most helpful video that I've found so far.
Thank you for your nice comment and for watching! I hope it all goes well for you. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
Very helpful video. Installed a new sink in basement bathroom.
@Motivation 03. Thanks so much for your comment. I wish you the best of luck in all your future DIY projects.
Awesome video, my husband and I swapped out one sink because it was rusting and decided to do the other because it turned out to not be that hard to do afterall. Thanks for taking the time to make the walk through
I am so glad your project was a success! Thank you for watching and for the nice comment!
Thank you for this sink replacement video
Just came upon this video and noticed the sink and faucet are exactly like what was installed in our bathroom when our home was built in 1982. Sometimes the original stuff lasts longer than you'd think it could.
Thank you for explaining each piece of this repair- very helpful!!😊
Cliff and Katie, Thanks for your comment. Best of luck with your next DIY project and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs!
@@BigAl-1 definitely subscribed. Thanks Big Al!!😘💖

@@1imaginems That is great news!! Thanks for the update. I am glad you were able to accomplish the task!
Thank you for your video. It was very helpful and professional. Your assistance was very patient and I am ready to finish mine. We are surprising my wife and little girl so when they return from their camping 🏕 week, they will be surprised.
We really appreciate your time and effort for this beautiful video!!!!
From Oregon!!!
Thank you Sir for this video! Every detail is important to me. Blessings to you and your assistant.
@ Kim. Thank you so much for your comment and blessing. I can use every blessing that I can get. Best of luck.
This is a great video, very detailed. I was going to call a plumber, but I think I'm going to try it myself. Thank you.
Doing this job today. Great video on the proper steps and sealant to use. Thanks so much. This will be a huge help.
Thanks for your comment and good luck with your project! Hopefully you subscribed to big Al repairs so we can keep filming.
Good luck with your project! I hope it goes well. Thank you for watching.
This saved us so much time and headache! We didn't even know where to start. After watching this, I used a slightly different acidic cleaner that we had on hand to get it unstuck, but I followed all the steps and it came right off. Thank you thank you thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@ Melissa. You are so kind. Thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with your next DIY project.
After watching your video I am going to replace my sink and faucet myself. Thank you for the video
@Laura. Thanks so much for the comment period I wish you the best of luck in all your DIY projects.

Great video. I change out both my bathroom sinks after watching this. Thanks!
@jimmywo51. Thanks for your comments. Best of luck with your next diy project. Hopefully you subscribe to Big Al repairs.
Glad you were able to complete the project! Thanks again!
Good refresher ... might want to mention that when the shutoffs are old, they often will not work well ... so might want to replace them while at it.
Thanks for the comment! Yes that is a good point! I have had that happen to me before. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks Big Al. My next project x 3! 👍👍👍
Thank you so much for this video! About to install my new sink!
@Concept86 Xx Thanks so much for your comment. I hope everything went well. Hopefully you subscribe to Big Al repairs and good luck with your next diy project.
Thanks so much for your comment. I wish you the best of all your DIY projects.
This is a great video and the way you talk sounds so much like Norm Macdonald
.
haha! Thanks for the comment! I will have to look up who Norm Macdonald is :)
thanx buddy great vid

Great video Thank you

Fantastic Job! From start to finish...every step covered. I’ll go a little further and thank you for keeping it all about the project and not about yourself. First video I’ve consulted before I begin and I think I can stop here. Thanks again.
@Stepenen Wilder. Thanks so much for your comment! I wish you the best on your next diy project! Hopefully you subscribe to Big Al repairs.
Marie let us know how your project turned out. Hopefully all went well.
Marie Hopefully you subscribed so you can give us feedback on our future projects.
Good job Al. Only thing is I would have left the drain tail on since you weren’t reusing it.
One other thing, is put the braided supply lines on with the faucet to make it easier when set in.
Thanks for your video.
@ Greg Brecker. Thanks so much for your comment and suggestions. I will definitely do that on my next sink project. I wish you the best on your next DIY project and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs.

Thanks so much for this video! My sink was clogged so I took it apart at the pipes to clean it out. I could not figure out how to put the pipe back in that attaches to the sink base. After watching this video I got it!

@Oyster. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. I wish you the best in your new next diy project. Hopefully you subscribe to Big Al repairs.
Thanks for the video. I successfully replaced my drain and faucet. I'd like to point out what I learned during this project:
@ Jim. Thanks so much for your comment. So many great suggestions. Best of luck with your next DIY project.
Thank you for your video! Close to calling a plumber to change this 40+ bathroom sink☺️
Turning taps on they sound like a poor animal crying for help🤦🏽♀️
Video is very straightforward!
I'm going to change it myself, thanks again!
Good luck! Let us know how it goes! Thanks for commenting. Hope this video helps!
Thank you so much for sharing this video ! So grateful for all the information! What was the sink in the video measurements that sink looks just like mine !
Unfortunately, we no longer have access to to the sink. Best of luck with all of your DIY projects and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
THIS IS AWESOME!!! Thank YOU!
@Spencer. Thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with your DIY project.
@knockout88 thanks so much for your comment and feedback. I have had the same problem with other water lines and faucets that I have worked on. I had to use an adapter to make it work. Good luck with all of your DIY projects and hopefully you subscribed to Big Al Repairs.
Excellent tutorial.
@Gillian. Thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with your next DIY project.
"It looks like a miracle has occurred. We have no water leaks." Ha ha. That's for damn sure. I don't ever remember being that lucky. Well done, Sir.
That is great news! Thanks for the nice comment
I recommend attaching the flexible stainless line to the bottom of the faucet before you drop the sink in!
Yes, That is a good tip!
Great Video! Thank you so much for your help.
