Mirror adhesive: amzn.to/34EUxqf
Electrical Gang Box extender: amzn.to/2ReK9SQ
Tool List:
Cordless Drill: amzn.to/3wMYghe
Drill/ Driver Combo: amzn.to/3pe83dP
In this DIY small bathroom remodel / renovation we did it in 3 days and under $750. Keep in mind this was a QUICK and EASY project. There were things missed. We will be doing an addition on our home this next year and redoing a lot of these things, all the walls, electrical items, and yes we'll be getting rid of the ugly door.
Some of the bigger stuff like the countertop, lights, faucet, and paint was from Lowes, some tools and electrical stuff from home Depot, and well odds and ends at Walmart.
*Colors: Valspar metropolis for the grey and blue kiss for the white.
Started by taking off and out everything except the toilet. Wife did the painting. I did a skim coat of drywall mud to take off the textured walls. Painted the cabinets and doors, got a new marble laminate countertop, added new 3 pc faucet, new vanity light fixture, new cabinet mirror. and we kept the trim, tile, toilet and shower.
This project took us 3 days and cost us about $700.
Thanks for watching.
You can NEVER finish a project without going to the hardware store at least 10 times that day. 😤
and that's a fact!
Its probably the most frustrating part of the job 😒😒😒
😭😭😭😭😭
That's fact lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tip: When removing a mirror like that, use duct tape in a cross cross pattern (#) across the mirror. That way when/if it breaks, the falling pieces are contained and don’t slice your arm in half. You were lucky in that whoever hung that mirror originally, did a terrible drop of glueing it which is why it came off so easily. Safety first!
I know, I was going to put tape on it but it popped off so easy didn't bother with this on.
On my newest bathroom video I did put tape on it just because I could tell right off the glue was holding a lot tighter. Still got it off no problem then I broke it down in my garage haha!
Wow. that's a. great tip mate
great advice!
Not to mention WHERE ARE YOUR SAFETY GLASSES!!!! I am a female senior citizen and I even know you have to wear eye protection!!!
To all the haters and bad comments, this guy is doing his job and it looks very nice most of us can say alot of comments but he got it done great job👍👍
Thanks! There will always be haters.
Awesome Reno. I need to redo my secondary bathroom.
Go for it!
I wish you guys would’ve done more to make it more updated. Like take out the medicine cabinet and the cab over the bathroom.
Great job
Nice job!
Suggestion: install the faucet first then install the vanity top. Been there.
Also, don't use the grey plastic feed line that come with the faucet kit. They always fail. I worked 30 as an insurance home owner claim rep. Those cheap plastic lines always fail. Use braded stainless steel lines. Good job.
Yep, I've already switched them out with SS!
Did you use a paint with primer?
Finish in 3 days only if you know what you are doing. Regular fold will take 3 years and never finished LOL
Great Job
Thanks!
You have me inspired! I also love to see couples working together. Did you ever consider framing your mirror, I think it always makes them look better?
Great idea. I was going to suggest that.
I think that was the cleanest demo I’ve ever seen of a bathroom! It’s like everything was glued on with elmer’s glue 😂
Knowing my house it probably was!
I wish ours was! Our bathroom and conservatory is COVERED in super glue 😖.

This gives me hope. I will be a first time home owner hopefully some time this year and I will definitely want to tackle some projects like this.
Same ‘cause when this pandemic 😷 is over, my family is going to remodel the pink bathroom.
me too which me luck
Same! The house I want has a seashell shaped countertops in the bathroom. If I get it, replacing those will be my first project. Good luck with your search!
You guys can definitely make it happen. I bought my house last year and got lazy because of all the o.t I was putting at work. But time to start remodeling.
DIY ruins houses! The job will never, and i repeat never be done like a professional job, it takes years of experience to remodel properly, every time my clients buy new houses, i have to go in and fix DIY crap jobs all the time. Don’t be a cheap ass and do it right, it’s your house, your investment, don’t half ass it.
I've seen many videos on remodeling, this was one of the best quick overview videos I've seen. Great job!
Thanks!
Talking about the prior owners covering holes... that cabinet is going to peel in no time. No primer and rolled. The next owner we'll be saying the same thing about you.
Unless you go with a paint and primer in one! Which we didn't, haha, but it has been 18 months and it still no cracks or peeling!
@@-DIYPRO- wow! Sounds like the paint industry has been tricking me 🤣 next project I'll go straight paint and skip the other steps.
Why didn't you paint all the walls when you had it disassembled
This is a great video. The speed up, the details, the commentary. Wow! Thanks. Glad I found you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
It was sped up? Now you tell me. I've been trying to do my bathroom remodel at the same pace as him.
I really appreciate how you got right to the point in each part of the project. Your editing was perfect. Congrats on the success of the bathroom remodel. You make it seem like something I could do too. Thank you.
Awesome! Thank you!
This has to be one of the best "how to" videos I've seen. And everything you say I went through on my spare bath.
Thanks Linda!
I agree. I watched like 4. He was like straight to the point and wasn’t just pointing on himself like this one girl did. It was super annoying lol
@@-DIYPRO- I koi
Agreed
It really held my attention and had me laughing
I’ve installed many replacements bath vanity and cabinets.
Install the faucet, water lines and sink before mounting the top. Much faster and less headaches later.
Good job.
Exactly, I learned that lesson and did that on my last install.
I absolutely love how you puttied the wall to make it a flat surface. Haha so going to try and I don't care if that's not how you're "suppose to do it" 😂😫💪🏽
One can use a dampened sponge to smooth out sheetrock mud...cuts down on dust and cleanup...
Skim coating over a textured wall is not easy. Watch a lot of videos. It's really time consuming. It takes on a life of it own if the lights hit it to create shadows.
You’ll probably regret not taping the sheet rock around the light fixture. Eventually it always cracks.
Looks much better though!
GREAT JOB 👍🏼
Working with the wife is awesome, that’s how we do it!
I know if I I done it by myself I would have had to have done it over again!

Pro Tip. Install the faucet before you install the counter top. That way you have access to both sides easily.
Pro tip. Don’t do that as access to silicone the edges gets limited
Pro tip 2. Before installing the countertop use silicone to secure it to the vanity.
If you wanna change the top but keep the vanity in the future or vice versa you won't damage the van or potentially break the stone counter
Your wife is smart! I hate the textured walls too 👏👏❤️
Definitely a lot smarter than me. I'm the lucky one!
Another tip I learnt from my personal renovating was to screw on the faucet to the sink first then add on the hoses after so you don’t have to be stuck under the sink in a tight space for too long
Yes indeed. Learned my lesson on my other bathroom!
ruclips.net/video/FTywylvE2h0/видео.html
Just a tip for others. It would have been easier if you attached the faucets to the vanity before you attached it to the cabinet. Thanks for this video.
OMG.......your bathroom is set up EXACTLY like ours...down to the off centered light fixture. Thank you for making this video because it was helpful for us to figure out how we were going to remodel our bathroom.
Glad it helped!

I have had the same issue with a light fixture. Thanks for the offset info
“The wife” lol
I know, right
That name is THE WORST
I cringed every time. 🤷🏼♀️
There's one singular wife all people who say this share. She's very busy.
Extremely busy. She is a wonder women!
Good video. I would recommend taping your drywall joints. It may look fine when at first, but will probably crack. Also, I wouldn't recommend using the drywall anchors that come with the towel bar - they usually fail. I would use a toggler or toggle bolt that goes behind the drywall (if you can't be in a stud - which is the best!)
@Hòmè Ďeçoŕè Stop spamming

Let me pause the video for a sec....dang y'all took apart everything lol. I can't wait to see how this all looks!!!!
You should see everything now that we are doing our addition!
all these DIY remodeling jobs are always the same, they are all in white or white and light gray with very little color. After seeing a lot of them its like being depressed in the Winter in the middle of Scandinavia or on a Hospital floor for mentally ill patients.
Yep in 15 years my kids are going to laugh and say why would anyone have those colors and styles.
The electrical box you used for the light is used for ceiling fans. That's why it comes with the brace to support the extra weight. Great idea to use it for the light!
Do you know the name of the rail?
@@angkham if you look up "ceiling fan box" you'll find it. they sell them at Lowes/Home Depot... all the hardware stores really
@@robertoirving3685 appreciate ya!
Yes, it is generally availabl at home stores. Couldn't tell from the video but be sure the box is also metal for the ceiling fan mount/support.
Your breaker box is accessible from OUTSIDE?! That seems very problematic. Never saw that before...
Accessible from the outside and looks freaking prehistoric! Is that standard US breaker box?
Depends on when the house was built. My parents house and all the houses in the neighborhood had the breaker box outside the back door. Things have definitely changed.
Every house in AZ I’ve lived in has the breaker box outside. Not sure why.
NEVER REMOVE A MIRROR LIKE HE DID. If that would’ve broke, his chest would’ve got stabbed
This one popped off easy. I took precautions on my latest bathroom:
ruclips.net/video/kkMI-bJCvww/видео.html
Great job, quick tip. Put your faucet on before you attach the countertop makes that assembly alot easier, also use white silacanized latex caulk. It will hide your gaps better and it's way easier to use.
Agreed!
Glad to hear I am not the only more than one trip or two per project!!!
😂 I swear it wouldn't be a DIY of you don't make at minimum 3 trips!
If the paint/texture used in the bathroom was latex based, in the future... grab a heat gun and heat that stuff up in like a 2'x2' square. Then, take a putty knife and get in behind it and basically scoop it off leaving the flat drywall underneath. No need to skim that stuff.
It was drywall mud. I'd seen a video showing that, wish it would have worked on mine.
Nice results!!! Looks great! But, one concern: whenever installing a mirror, if you use glue, it MUST be made for mirrors, as regular construction adhesive will break down the reflective paint on the mirror and the glue splotches will start to ghost through and be visible from the front. Or, even worse, if the painted reflective surface deteriorates enough, the mirror may just fall loose from the wall! - Very important to use mirror pacific glue!
Good point! I've heard that a bunch since this video. It's been 2 years and my mirror is still on there with no spots coming through!
@@-DIYPRO- So far, so good! - Hope you're outta the woods!
When handling mirrors always use Gloves could save your hands or fingers God bless
Very true!
I did just that on my second go around!: ruclips.net/video/QIz6qou3o78/видео.html
Good job, mister! And one litle advice, before puting sink table, fix tap and highest part of drain! It's much easier do that before, after puting sink table on place, just conect tubes and drain! And one thing more, very well explained gray walls and white furniture, why not make oposite! Really enjoyed in this video, thank you!
Yep learned my lesson on that one!
What is the color for the cabinets? I love it.
Thats what I would like to know
I draw a quick diagram on a piece of cardboard and pop the screws or hardware right into the cardboard in the exact location the piece came from. Learned that from working on cars. You can save the ziplock and w new parts etc there's alway extra cardboard laying around. Loved how you fixed the textured wall😍 this was inspirational!
That would work.
I hate when people put those medicine cabinets over the toilet...I prefer floating shelves
I've dropped to many things into the toilet with shelves!
Love this! I would recommend to sell or donate your old sinks etc next time! Habitat for Humanity will take old things like that and resell so that they can have money for their projects.
We have one by my house but they wouldn't take it with the stain and the sink had a bunch of corrosion on it.
Next time you do a skim coat try mixing your mud with water till its like a pancake batter consistency. Then get a 1 1/2 in nap paint roller. Roll it on the wall in sections about 10ft at a time then use your 12 or 14" taping knife to skim it out. Or you can use a magic trowel or a knock down squeegee to smooth it out. It will save you a ton of time. The roller just gets it on the wall super fast. Also if you start skimming on the top and use a slight preasure with your finger on the bottom of the knife going in horizontal movements then just work your way to the bottom (if that makes sense) or you can even do from the bottom in virtical wifes keeping the preassure on the opposite side then work firm left to right. It keeps the knife from cutting in that little line in the product your trying to leave on the wall. Saves hours of sanding and cleaning up dust
I'll try it out!
Next time installing a new vanity top install your faucet and pop up in before siliconing your vanity to save you some time and you won’t break your back but great job looks amazing!
I learned my lesson and did just that on my latest video.
Everytime i step into home depot its at least 100$ minimum smh…
750 is amazing especially for a small bathroom update. I think i spent 650$ given i didnt redo the tile and did the work myself. Big money saver
Pre cut marble top ? How much was that ?
Great video! Very helpful. I was recently challenged with the same uncentered light fixture box. I like the way you solved that.
To keep things even easier assemble the sink plumbing - at least the faucet and handles - before putting the top on the vanity.
I wonder why he didn't bead the silicone in before putting the faucet in.
Well i should have put the faucet on before even installing the counter top and then. But with the steps I took I agree and should have silicone the backsplash then put in the faucet.
This was the best sped up diy video I’ve ever seen!!! Thank you so so much! Where did you get your counter tops from and how much was it?
I think he said he got it from Lowe’s
OMG.....YOU MIGHT👎 WANT TO PUT SAFTY GOGGLES AND WORK GLOVES ON..👎...B4 YOU DESIDE👎👎👎

SO MANY THING COULD GO WRONG
My mom wants to remodel her and my dad's bathroom but we don't have a huge budget to replace the whole vanity so this video is absolutely perfect to follow for the remodel
Have fun and good luck!
Very inspiring. My bathroom is this size and the handyman wants 5 thousand dollars to do it. I have a mind to pick up the sledge hammer and do that sh*t myself.
@Lisa, do it! Don’t pay some guy to do stuff you can do yourself! RUclips is a great teacher! You got this! 👍🏼
Love all of this! My only advice for people, being a real estate broker, is to NOT get a flexible drain pipe. Those are not the proper pies and catch debris in the folds. If the drain system doesn’t fit, call a plumber or handyman to install a new assembly. Everything else on this video is gold 👌🏻🔥
If you are talking about the flexible ones with the ribs then totally agree, I guess when I said flexible i mean adjustable lengths. Thanks!
A pretty decortive mirror woould have look way better than putting that plane one back up there. Mirror to dated...
Agreed, it's coming down during our addition!
WOW awesome ideas!
I JUST shared my bathroom makeover on a tight budget!
Nothing better than getting the look for less! :)
What is the conduit box/rail called? Can you link it please? I have the same exact problem.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

Great great job. One recommendation: change your doorknobs to a nice nickel or chrome lever style to match color of your faucet (chrome) or towel rod (nickel). Door hinges too.
Yea I agree, I was thinking the same thing
Big design fail in reinstalling that old fashioned mirror...should have gone in the trash and hung a new mirror with a designer frame.
Lol they end up knowing you by name at The Depot for sure during our projects.. Lol
I'm in the middle of my home addition and yes I now know all the different department managers!
Great video I love that you are not an expert and super technical lol that can be annoying. You make this seem like anybody can do it. I plan on redoing my home
Right on, thanks!
Better not show the wife this video. She'll want a new bathroom. Looks great!
Haha, just don't let her watch HGTV!
HGTV remodels will say "$18000 for the bath remodel". Seriously. Great job!
I suggest for people to use silicone for the mirrors instead of construction adhesive as it sets hard and is not flexible when set. The construction adhesive has the possibility of cracking over time unlike the flexible silicone. Over all not a bad video mate !.
I like that suggestion. I'll try that one out next time.
Omfg, hiding things.
Let me list everything our previous home owners hid/did to sell.
1. Hid wall damage behind furniture (shelves/beds).
2. Painted around said furniture, then LEFT IT.
3. Tossed ALL of their trash over the embankment into the woods (old trash cans, planters tires and DOZENS of bags full of cheap vodka bottles).
4. Caulking in holes on drywall.
5. They filled the shed FULL of BS, left it unlocked, thinking they could sneak back later and grab everything...
The house was on the market for almost a year... you think they would've actually tried... but it's human nature to take the path of least resistance.
True true.
Oh my gosh, do you have your breaker box outside of your house?! Is that safe? Is it common in your area or something? WOW! I can’t believe that. But hey, you did an awesome job with your bathroom! Thanks for sharing.
Yes it's outside and yes it's common in my area and yes I hate it, project coming up will be to move it to the inside of garage.
Mech Master, yes, please do. It worried me when I saw that and please, please don’t put this thing off! This is more important than anything else because it’s regarding the safety of your family! May the Lord Almighty protect you always. Take care.
Why 3.5 M people who watched and found helpful to this video did not subscribe? I just subscribed to this channel since this video will greatly help me tackle my project. I had a bathroom estimation from Lewis's partner and they really quote me 19k. Wish me lucky doing by myself!
I know, right! Thanks and good luck!
Looks great! You guys made this look so effortlessly easy!
Thanks!
I bought the same exact light fixture but it’s lose like I can tilt it side to side…what did I do wrong?!
Does tightening the bolt in front help out? Mine seems pretty sturdy.
@@-DIYPRO- I returned it because the metal plate wasn’t round.
@@-DIYPRO- I bought a completely different one because of that issue
Just wondering what kind of mud you used for the walls? We need to do ours and have no idea..thanks!
I just used some pre-mixed mud, there are a couple different brands at the big box stores, any will work. Threw it on the wall right out of the tub.
My dad and brother are both glaziers, so of course I have to pipe in and say that mirrors should never be glued to the wall. There are specific clips that hold them on the bottom and top. Never any worries about breakage coming off, or wanting to reposition later. You really scared me with the removal! ~ and then I was disheartened to see you put it back on the same way... But otherwise, everything looks lovely! Great job!
Looks great! You and “the wife” did a great job!😆❤️
Thank you!! 😁
Vanity top, faucet, light, towel bar, paint, trim. Not sure what else I’m missing, but if these are all the major expenses, I think one could’ve managed this project for under $400.
All depends on how much the counter top it. Ours was $400 alone.
Thank you for the flex drain recommendation. This is the second vid I watched that cautioned about the drains not matching up. I have three vanity tops with faucets to install. I was going to hire a plumber but it does look doable.
Were you able to get it done? Good luck!
@@-DIYPRO- I haven't gotten to it yet but I will in the next week or two. Many projects to do.
Had you already done the tub/shower area?
My wife wants to remodel our bathroom and it looks identical in size and layout to yours .
We’re thinking of refinishing the tub and tiling the walls and adding shower doors like you have instead of keeping our shower curtain.
Also, a local remodeler quoted us $30,000 to do our bathroom
No, the shower will be next. We are trying to decide on a tile right now. Definitely would be a lot more if you are adding flooring and shower to the project.
This video was great, you deserve 1million subs. I’m gonna subscribe
I agree, right! Haha, thanks.
WTF?!? Why is your breaker panel access located outside?!?
I enjoyed your narration! It's really refreshing to listen to someone that's funny and humble, instead of the standard on RUclips tutorials: 'look at my awesome bathroom transformation guys'. Great job. I wish I had someone to do my bathroom...
Thanks for the kind words!
When this pandemic 😷 is over, my family and I are going to remodel the pink bathroom.
Erika: we didn’t wait. Since we’re stuck staring at the ugly bathroom 24/7 we decided to take the plunge. First thing to go: hideous wallpaper. Next: the cracked porcelain sink and nasty linoleum (?!) counter top. This video is a huge help. I say don’t wait. Do it during quarantine. 👍🏽
Great tutorial video!
Beautiful bathroom.
Thank you for sharing.
While measuring you can use water in a level because water forms to it's container, it doesn't bend around objects. Who would have known. 😶 #Notspinningthroughspaceonaball
ME! That's just because I'm an engineer that designs giant tanks. Years back before they had nice laser levels you'd pull out a roll of tubing and fill it with water and use that to level the tank.
Great tutorial!! Your bathroom looks nice.💯👏👍
Thanks!
Hello Mech,
Where did you buy the marble laminate countertop? Did it come with an undermount sink? Please let me know where I can find those products.
It was from Lowes. Unfortunately they don't carry it anymore so I took the link down. Yes it did come with the undermount sink as well.
Tip: install faucet to countertop while it’s still off. So you don’t have to reach underneath the cabinet and struggle
Funny things is i had never though to do that. I did learn my lesson and did just that in my latest bathroom remodel.
ruclips.net/video/FTywylvE2h0/видео.html
I am just recently beginning to learn demo and remodeling since I plan to buy a home soon so forgive my ignorance. But how did you make those cut pieces of drywall stay in place after you moved the position of the light fixture? Were those pieces glued then you just repainted over the lines?
Sorry this is a late response. I put a piece of wood behind it as a backer and they I put a couple coats of drywall mud over the lines and screw holes.
You can get rid of that big mirror and get a pretty oval one that is framed. Gold framed mirror 🪞 would of been nice!
The second half (the bigger) renovation/remodel of this bathroom is coming up. A lot will be changing!
In hindsight install faucet and drain before putting marble top in place... makes it much easier...tie in supply lines and P trap... you gottit....
I learned my lesson and did just that on my latest bathroom makeover!
You got lucky removing that mirror dude. Always tape and wear gloves and safety glasses to avoid injury!
Agreed, my other bathroom mirror did not go so well!

I wish you had the price of the items you bought. Or the link. Thanks for the video
When I first did the video I had a bunch of links and most either changed or were discontinued.
Loved this video. Hubby & I watched a few & yours was by far the most detailed. This will be a huge help this week as we work on remodeling our bathroom. Thx for sharing!

I want to repaint my bathroom cabinets as well. I was curious, shouldn't the cabinets have primer applied to them before painting?
Sorry this is a late response. Yes if you want it to last longer. As you can see we didn't but it's been 3 years and they still look good.
