How ironic the commercials we flipped the channel as kids Become chicken soup for the longing for nostalgic and old school America weary soul!
Thank you for sharing!
Commercials were so calm and soothing back then. Not loud, flashy, and in your face like today.
It's crazy how I remember these almost 50yrs later.
You can always tell when commercials are from the ‘Tonight Show’ or ‘SNL’ because of the audience applause at the very beginning of the video before the first commercial
Pretty much any live broadcast will cause such an abrupt transition since filmed/taped shows usually have a dead air portion to transition into the breaks.
These were recorded about 2 weeks before my 8th birthday!!!
3 days before my 10th birthday
I like Classic Commercials
The Banquet commercial…the redhead was Peggy Brooks from Young and the Restless, mid-70’s. If anyone cares. 😜
And I think the Tollhouse commercial was Mariette Hartley.
Chico and the man! I remember when Freddie Prinze died in ‘77.
Can't compare today's commercials to back then!
Shut up! Forget about today.
Commercials ARE getting
Darker n DARKER"..
if u know what I mean"💩
And yet a lot of you will try anyway.
Grandpa had that pocket radio! And commercial were so soothing. Today they blast the volume up to 11!
Thanks For Sharing!
Holycrow. I was 15 and had begun dating my high school sweetheart that year. Tasters choice coffee. I still drink it.
2:02 Lester Rawlins for Step Saver. In the 80s, he provided the voice-over on those famous "time to make the donuts" Dunkin' Donuts commercials.
4:46 James Harder for Skippy, one of the all-time best commercial actors.
8:31 Peggy Taylor on the NBC promo. She had a wonderful voice.
When all it took to get three ladies to come over was to
serve frozen food LOL!! *No Harvey's Bristol Cream?* 🍾
The Taster's Choice voice always creeped me out....
These were great!! Thanks for posting!! 🧡
So true..that shit looked like Alpo! We had lots of it. 9 Irish catholic family! My mother had a motto: you have 2 choices..take it or leave it. She also had a sign...This kitchen closed due to illness. I'm sick of cooking! Remember the Banquet frozen meat in a bag that you boiled in pot of water...no microwave!
@@1stltwife I remember the Banquet boiling bags.. I remember I didn't like them. It's like you said; choices were slim then. Today a if a kid won't eat their supper; the parent hastily makes Kraft Mac and Cheese while the soothing sounds of Enya play in the background... LOL! (I hate those lazy parent ads!)
These were great!
@cindy pruitt
Yes they were most of them have way more character then anything on air today. Most advertisers are so afraid of melting snowflakes they make the most tepid ads possible or an ad that insults everyone.
I was born in 1974,January.This is how the year I was born looked I guess.
PimpThe478 I was 8 years old. lol I remember a lot of these old commercials.
I was born just one month before you! 😊
I was born in March '74
This video was suggested to me on 26 Sept..... Good timing, algorithm!
0:41 - That's Paul Burke, who had an extensive acting career in both film and television from the 1950s-1980s. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Burke_(actor)
Number 1 song that week? "Rock Me Gently", Andy Kim
Actress Mariette Hartley at 5:55
Mariette Hartley ...... Hubba Hubba !! 😊👍
The Banquet commercial should be "cheesy" but it's actually pretty cool. What guy wouldn't love to find himself suddenly in the company of 3 pretty women? Also, I just remembered On-Cor had a very similar sort of thing in their commercials with Al Molinaro form Happy Days playing a grocer. He'd end up inviting himself and his family over for dinner to "help out" whoever was buying the product since there was no way one person alone could eat so much.
It was the 70’s. We all know what happened after dinner.
Dont remember any of these but I didnt do housework or take pills at 10 yrs old.
I Was 6 Months Old!
I'da jumped right in there with Tammy Grimes!
40 and all!
Thx for the awesome me memories
My 70s
I want that fresh dimension carpet damnit.
1:00 Miami beach...maybe the hotel that crumbled recently should have used the carpet in THIS hotel. lol
The creamery blew up!
The Banquet guy looks like young James Cameron.
Was everyone doing asmr back then?
Or perhaps a promo for "Ironside" final season premiere for the two part episode "Raise The Devil" from 1974 too?
Hey pannoni 8, I'm not ordinarily an alarmist or anything like that, but I noticed a series of 30 comments on this video by someone named nicholasceci5650 that are nothing but a series of random dates and random times. This person posts comments on other RUclips videos like this one, and they're always the same general content, dates and times, with seemingly no context given. Do you know anything about this?
Just a random spammer, and I'll try to block him the next time I come across him.
@@pannoni8449 Wasn't sure what was going on with them, so I decided to let you know so you can protect yourself. Later man!
Who's the actor on the Skippy dog food commercial? " spoooooottt " !!!
James Harder, one of the all-time best commercial actors. He was everywhere in the 70s and 80s.
This is an ad he did for Wang Computers in 1978 ruclips.net/video/AuX-6761KTQ/видео.html
Nytol uses a "tested ingredient" to make you drowsy, but it never states what the ingredient is. It's 1974 so it's not on the bottle either.
Could be some narcotic similar to Phenobarbital. 💊
Before women were convinced taking care of kids and family was a waste of time and they should be out working. Now look where we are.
My mpm started working ib 1974 because of exonomic reasons. She was an amazing mom & teacher.
Things are not always one way. ☮️💟
We're in the sewer now
“Realistic weather radio” as opposed to?
Realistic was the Radio Shack brand name
@@RideAcrossTheRiver Oh lol weird
@@CaptchaNeon Well, "realistic" as in the sound from the speakers was ... like real.
'Smartphone' makes about as much sense.
Thing is I went to Radio Shack when I was a kid but I never knew what any additional brands were, just remember seeing their logo on everything
And to put things in perspective, Joe Biden’s career as a politician was already in full swing when these commercials came out.
Before his presidency and vice presidency, his most famous event was the Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill case in 1991, and even then, he already seemed like he was getting up there in age. And yes, the OPEC oil embargo and inflation was roiling back then...
INFLUENCE PEDDLER FROM THE PAST.
Same year Nixon resigned over Watergate
why would they say the weather radio is "realistic"?
Realistic was the brand name for a line of different electronics sold at Radio Shack.
Back when commercials were more down to earth and not obnoxiously in your face.
Time to enlist US ARMY
Dave Lennox's ghost there again!!!
The tasters choice person had a very annoying voice
