I was born in 1967 so I was a kid watching and growing up with all of these. I have held back tears several times at only 10 minutes in, what is funny though is Leslie nielson must have been born with grey hair
Sometimes I watch match game 73 and when they go to a commercial break, I play this video for a minute and a half.
That's almost kind of sad. Just shows how much we long for better days! I know I do.

Ahh Zenith, their corporate/warehouse was VERY close to my house!! My grandpa told me about the company and we would pass it all the time!!! He had a Zenith for YEARS until it finally went kaput! I miss their TVs!! They REALLY lasted

At 24:09, that's singer/actress Ketty Lester. She played Hester Sue on Little House on the Prairie. Watching these old commercials has given me a surprising sense of peace, and I have been instantly transported back to my childhood in the 70s. Thank you.
I LOVED her on Little House On The Prairie and her singing voice is so beautiful. She turned 94 ( I think) last year.

I remember the United Bank Account of California ad ! It was the fall of 1973 , I just started Junior High. My parents bought me a used color TV set and I had it in my room. I was the envy of my peers. Thank you, Rick for bringing back pleasant memories of my late parents!

There's also a program called "Rhapsody in Black".The host Bill Gardner plays a lot of Rhythm and Blues records from the 1940s and 50s. He 's on Saturday afternoon from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. It's on KPFK 90.7 FM. You can go to the station's website because he has programs on for two weeks.

I was born in 1961 and grew up in the 1960s and 1970s, I REMEMBER SMOKING COLOMBIAN GOLD AND COLOMBIAN RED BUD, AND TIE STICK, WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER AND WATCHING THESE COMERCIALS, THEY WERE A LOT BETTER THAN THE STUPID ONES ON TV THESE DAYS
$35 for a ounce $17,50 a half ounce $8.75 for a nickle bag. It was a LOT LOT BETTER THAN what you GET these days

ZENITH tv's were extremely popular back then they were all over the place.
Heck, my 2 aunts and uncle each owned a Zenith color TV back in the 70's. We had a Sears one. 📺
We had one (our first color TV) from 1970 until it the picture tube finally went in 1984. The repairman only had to be called three times during those years.
I'm looking for a commercial from the early 1970s for Ex-Lax that was filmed at a zoo. It showed people visiting the zoo that looked like the animals. One lady looked like a llama, and another looked like a giraffe, and it showed her face in extreme close up chewing. We always laughed at it.

Yeah, I was there! When bicycles were named after 15 year old Buicks, and the "Flair" pen, wrote for about a page and a half. LOL! at least Roadmaster bikes worked!

Joan Crawford may have advertised Pan Am but it wasn't exactly a wise choice to fly on. In 1973-74 over a span of just nine months they had four fatal crashes resulting in large losses of life (plus one bombed by terrorists that killed 36 people) Aviation had a lot to learn in the 1970s and in the 1980s as well.
Of all the new TV shows shown here that premiered only one--Police Story--would survive long term (Barnaby Jones actually premiered mid-season in January, 1973 & ran seven years)
Almost 29,000 VW Things were built in the 1973 and 1974 combined model years. There's still some out there but I'll always prefer the Beetle or Karmann Ghia.

17:09 Leslie Nielsen when he was still doing serious dramatic roles, not comedy (for another few years). He could NOT have done a spot like this in 1983 or '93.
When he switched to comedy, he became his natural self. He loved comedy, and he and Robert Goulet especially loved fart-jokes. They each had a small handheld gadget that made fart sounds when squeezed.
The very same lines done seriously by Leslie in films and shows sound hilarious now.
In these times, he's taking his acting business very seriously.

VW commercial @ 20:33 “in Pacific, Missouri” = shows Mojave Desert. Missouri sure has gotten a lot drier and boy I don’t remember the Ozark mountains cutting such a steep profile on the horizon!

Avon calling. I forgot all about them. Chevy Nova...my sister had a 73...what a piece of junk. I remember driving it with my brother in 78 or 79 and hitting a puddle...water came gushing up the automatic shifter like water fountain, my brother yelling 'what a piece of s**t, then we both looked at each other and laughed like hell at my sisters lemon yellow lemon of a car! Leslie Nielson looking more like the captain in Poseidon adventure than Frank Drebin from police squad.

there is always good orthography in the comments for videos like this.
Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice the sitcom bowed on 9/26 and was said to premiere "Wednesday" so this is from between 9/20-9/25/1973. 10/2/1973 is the night of the Carson 11th anniversary promo.
That appears to also line up with the Police Story promo (starting around 13:20)--which might be for the initial airing of the first series episode (Dangerous Games).
I LOVED Johnny Brown on Good Times and every other show he was on. But I did hate the non stop fat shaming and names the Evans and Woods families were spewing at him. 😢
Regarding the CBS Adam's Rib promo, seeing Blythe Danner in that spot reminds us that her daughter Gwyneth Paltrow may be slightly prettier, but Blythe had way more sex appeal. Still does, in fact.
