Nice to see Margaret Hamilton, since she has been getting some fame lately, as the previously lost Sesame Street episode that she appeared in as the Wicked Witch of the West has recently been uncovered.
@@samanthab1923 Yes, Margaret Hamilton was a teacher before she became an actor, so she strongly believed in children's education, and appeared on shows like Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street, since they both emphasized helping children learn.
@yusakug I think it's a travesty that the episode of Sesame Street became lost to time for so long just because a bunch of busybodies complained after it aired. I would have loved that episode as a kid and I'm glad people finally have a chance to see it.
Corn Flakes- The close up shot of the ear of corn in the beginning showing the details of it really adds to the experience of this commercial, I think. HFC- The apron with the numbers and letters that the woman in this commercial is wearing looks like something that came straight from Sesame Street.
WNBC! Yes! Fred The Furrier kept on chugging along as long as Alexander's was around through the 80s! Plus that obvious New Yahk accent in the Newmark & Lewis ad!
Columbia Record and tape, Lol 😂😂 I still owe them some money! 😂 BMG was another good one! Thanks for the hard work and great memories all these years!!
i think the little boy in tender vittles commerical is a young Matthew Perry or one of Dom De luise sons the coca cola commerical is defenitly 1979 bubblious commerical takes me back too!
The V/O heard over "The Tonight Show" end credits was NBC Burbank staffer Victor Bozeman. Arthur Gary handled the "Road to Miami" promo, and Bill Rippe was live booth that late evening/early Sunday morning.
The differences from commercials of the 70s to now. Can't imagine a fur store being advertised anymore. Even something like Bubbilicious seems unusual now.
0:00--Back when fur coats were a thing--and animal rights activists weren't. 0:30--Do they still make Tender Vittles? I remember that it was kind of in between "dry" and "wet" cat foods. 1:00--Wow; a bank commercial with a catchy jingle! How rare is that, even back then? 1:58--I love the Corn Flakes jingle. 2:23--"Good to the last drop"--that is an iconic advertising slogan/jingle. 4:08--I had kind of forgotten that Irish Spring was advertised as a "manly" soap back then. 4:38--I was always amused by the Agree shampoo ads that claimed it stopped the "greasies"! 5:08--"Coke adds life" may not be their best-remembered jingle, but it is one of many great jingles Coca-Cola has used through the years. 6:08--Although Wrigley's is my go-to brand of chewing gum nowadays, I loved Bubblicious and similar brands back then. 7:08--That state-of-the-art electronic equipment looks so dated now. 11:08--Ocean Spray was my favorite brand of juice drinks back then, especially Cranapple and Cran-Grape. 11:37--Interesting how they used Caribbean steel drum music in a Navy ad. 12:07--Wow; record clubs. You could actually get some pretty good deals from those, but you had to be careful to do it right.
Animal rights were a thing since the 19th c. I guess that furrier is now experiencing in Hell for eternit what the animals used for fur go thru in this life.

Gene Siskel named "The Late Great Planet Earth" as a Dog of the Week on "Sneak Previews". He also gave it one star in the newspaper and thought the whole thing was depressing and full of shit.
No. Seinfeld's building has a distinctive staircase/fire escape at the front of it. It's also in Los Angeles, which I doubt they would use in a promo for a radio show in NYC
Now that you've mentioned it, I can totally picture the Seinfeld fire escape, though...with the ladders kinda going up into the *middle* of each landing, where there's a hole.

I saw a recent YT vid of her in costume on Mr Rogers

I remember being at a NJ Nets game & people holding up signs saying Coke Adds Life. Player Albert King had been busted with coke during a DWI stop

My uncle went out there to get my aunts 40th birthday mink.
And just watching the Newmark and Lewis ad makes it hard to believe that everything they sold is now defunct. Makes me really miss the old ads!
So Richard Belzer was in radio before he became a detective ;).
9:26 - A 96 second commercial break? Unheard of today.
That was actually halfway through the commercial break. The full break was four minutes long. 7:08 through 11:07.
I think you're right about Joe Piscopo. Kinda hard to tell for sure, with so much shadow on the lower part of his face in the beginning.
Got to go to the sound Den !
That Bubblelicious commercial was very American Pop.
