Purina Puppy Chow- It's nice seeing Winnie the Pooh enjoy another gig in commercials like this one, advertising dog food. I can even hear him suppress a laugh at one point in his dialogue. The animation in this commercial is simple, but very charming, too.
1:11--A great, largely forgotten Burger King jingle! 2:14--The top prize for PCH was $125,000. What inflation we've experienced since then. 3:44--Do they still make Di-Gel? 4:15--I agree with another comment; this Puppy Chow commercial has simple but charming animation. "For a full year, till he's full grown" was an iconic advertising slogan of the day. 5:36--Back when deodorant came in aerosol spray and roll-on, rather than the "solid" or "stick" format that is dominant nowadays. 7:19--Two great classic comedies that reran on Me TV a few years back. I love both the Mary Tyler Moore and Bob Newhart shows, and I hope they put them back into the rotation on that channel. 8:53 and 11:37--Ah, the aspirin/pain reliever wars of the 1970's. 9:54--I remember those Colgate commercials with the chalk demonstration very well--and how intrigued the kids in the ads seemed. 12:50--Two more great classic comedies! As of 2022, "All In the Family" is rerunning on Get TV, and "Alice" is rerunning on Antenna TV. On the other hand, I really hope one of those retro networks picks up "The Muppet Show" (13:34) and "The Sonny and Cher Show" (16:14). I think the latter may have been on Get TV for a while, but they aren't currently airing variety shows.
Shortly after Jimmy Carter won the Presidential race. Gerald Ford losing the election brought a close to the Nixon/Watergate/Vietnam era, which brought us into a new era....an era which just happened to be captured on VHS tapes.
I was just about to ask the question, "Who is that lady at 9:56", when all of a sudden it hit me. That's actress, Frances Sternhagen, Cliff Calvin's mom from "Cheers." I _knew_ her voice sounded familiar. Maranatha!

Roberta, I hear you. but we are in a totally different world than what we were in, in the 70's and 80's. families don't even watch T.v together anymore.
Betamax machines then only had the X1 speed it could only tape on K-30 and K-60 tapes so there wasn’t a whole lot of recording time but the picture was nice. Later Betamax machines did away with X1 speeds.
Contac C had a very pronounced sedating effect I am not even sure if you can still buy Contac Anacin or Dristan it seems that some products come and go
It's so nice relaxing here on this sunny afternoon as 55-year-old man, to be laying on the couch with my cat and feeling like I'm 8 again
What relaxing fun and clean commercials. Almost as if adults made them. What a difference from what we have today.

Sterling could sell you anything....that voice itself was just so charming.
My brother was only a month old when these aired! It's like time travel!
I know the feeling, my oldest niece was 20 days old when these aired. It's such a nice glimpse into how TV was.
1976! Some rare ads here! Plus the CBS graphics around this time are really neat!
Agreed. I'd kind of forgotten about these CBS graphics, but then again, I was not quite 6 years old when these spots aired.
“Hangovers and how to avoid them. Film at 11.”
The 70’s were awesome.
The dude who said that sounded hung over himself, lol.
Important news 😂
Loved these commercials.

The Puppy Chow commercial is also narrated by Sterling Holloway, who did the voice of Winnie the Pooh in the Disney cartoons.

Remember all these-great set!

Maranatha!
Frances Sternhegan in the colgate ad. She played Brenda's mom on the Closer
She also played Cliff Clavin's mom on Cheers- and is still alive! (Poor Cliff, LOL)
11:39 Ah yes, random medical information about aspirin was as common a problem as muggings and carjacking back in the day…

Joanne Frank’s excitement about Tide really jumps off the screen…..
9:59 - Mrs. Smush?
Contac was the best for colds.
17:18 Looks like Morgan Brittany AKA Suzanne Cupito as Santa Corleone's helper/debtor.
One of “Dallas” best villains
You’ll find the Money under a big W!
Why can’t they show movies every week like they used to
I forgot about Tom Selleck being in commercials
Roberta, I hear you. but we are in a totally different world than what we were in, in the 70's and 80's. families don't even watch T.v together anymore.
Netflix and HBO is the reason!! 😢
Amazing how clear these commercials are for being from 1976. I'm assuming these were probably recorded with a BetaMax machine?
It's safe to assume that most of the pre-1980 recordings that I've posted here were sourced from airchecks. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircheck
@@80sCommercialVault thanks for the info, Mike!

Not sure about Dristan, but I'm pretty sure the other 2 are still around.
Connie Chung was still pretty
