Very cool! I assume you were a kid at the time, so it must have been a real treat to see all of those people. I'm curious to know how William Shatner's unforgettable rendition of "Rocket Man" went over in the audience. There's scattered applause at the end of it, but a lot of the people in the crowd seem to be laughing and generally confused about what they just witnessed.
Nothing but compliments to your '70s TV commercials compilations. I love old TV ads, and I purposely try to find comps that have few or no commercials that appear on commercially available collections, and your videos are great for that. Big ups to you! Oh yeah, as you said, that is indeed Steve Guttenberg in the Dentyne ad.
The look of the room at the Studio where the Sci-fi Awards were being held reminds me of the decor of the Nickelodeon Studio where they filmed the game show, "Legends Of The Hidden Temple". Right down to the foggy atmosphere.
That might as well be Daft Punk at the beginning right? Also a gem of a comment on the linked Shatner Rocket Man cover video: "Elton John did a good job covering this, but I prefer Shatner's original version personally."
I never thought I needed to see a woman dressed up as “The Fly” dancing to a disco rendition of the Close Encounters theme music, but damn. I love how strangely imaginative 70s entertainment could be, lol.

While you might be able to find positive testimonials about people increasing their reading speed, speed reading as it is depicted in this commercial does not really exist. The human eye cannot perceive and relay the information to the brain fast enough for these techniques to actually work as advertised. Courses like this are essentially teaching people to skim under the guise of reading. Here are some articles about the course www.thecrimson.com/article/1967/5/3/evelyn-wood-most-just-waste-the/ www.washingtonpost.com/archive/local/1980/08/25/the-speedreading-courses-are-they-just-skimming/94fe6f9e-8cb1-4e6a-b0aa-f126f6564117/
He was also the KCOP-TV announcer, and was the game show announcer for The $100,000 Pyramid, Wheel of Fortune, Tic Tac Dough and Hot Potato. God bless him.
Contac was the best cold medicine. At 9:45, an interesting magazine story title: "Is cancer such big business that we can't afford to cure it?"
The voiceover on the Contac commercial sounds like Lloyd Bridges. Looks like he picked the wrong week to quit cold medicine! ✈️😀
I was at this. My dad is Stan (Freberg).

I've just been watching his work on Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour, he was great. I hope you have many good memories of your dad.
I remember your encyclopedia commercials!
You know, that list of the cast of the Sci-Fi Awards makes me want to see Wayland Flowers and Madame share the stage with Darth Vader...
Fuzzy memories tv has the awards in parts. Science fiction film awards 1978

I think my mom had that specific three dog night album. I used to listen when I discovered my parents’s records as a teenager in the 90s.
I can feel that couch in that furniture store commercial.
OK, thank you, now I know where SCTV got the inspiration for Evelyn Wolf's School of Speed Eating.

That show(Legends) is being revived by The CW
Such nostalgia. The 70s were annoying but I would trade them for today in an instant.
Ooo now here’s some fun oldies right here!
And yes 4:57 RIP Charlie.
holy hell what a strong opener
4:23 That's what I sound like when I inhale helium.
Holy crap! Sci Fi awards! Awesome!

My grandma used Rose Milk. I miss it..
This special aired on Wed. 1/25/78 at 11:30 PM on KSTW. The Mike Douglas Golf Classic aired on Sat, 1/28 and Sun, 1/29.
Thanks again
"Bernie Taupin and Lord Darth Vader"
Just, wow...
I wonder what that $469 furniture set would be worth by today’s standards given modern inflation. I’d say around $1250 maybe 🤔
$1,904.21. I calculated it on the inflation app on my phone.
@@LawWonderTV9 Still not a bad deal given how much brand new furniture sets cost. This would be a bargain in comparison
I loved Rose Milk lotion, can you find it anywhere today?
I need to see the Sci fi awards... Please
Most of it is available via FuzzyMemoriesTV: ruclips.net/p/PL4HcYVjGGuFs-8y_ndkGa9Q_uHxWlQixX I believe only the first part is missing.

$1 postage 😮. That only gets you a couple of stamps nowadays.
Charlie O'Donnell is the announcer on the SciFi Film Awards
He was also the KCOP-TV announcer, and was the game show announcer for The $100,000 Pyramid, Wheel of Fortune, Tic Tac Dough and Hot Potato. God bless him.
I thought that sounded familiar. What an incredible voice talent he was. RIP Charlie.
I remember him announcing on Wheel Of Fortune for many years, I think right up until his passing.
@@timothysprengeler4071 So did I.
Is that the Saturn Awards?
Yes: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5th_Saturn_Awards
Why did it seem like Lorne Greene was deliberately trying to ignore Melissa Gilbert?🤔
It's how the ad was written?
