      Hey wondering if you would know 😅, will the gas company replace old gas line that is only buried about 6 inches at the most. That goes from street to my meter? I get the rest is on my but it's the distribution line to my meter and is very shallow

    The difference between a good tradesman and a great one is how well they can do repair work. That's easily the nicest concrete trench and repair job I've ever seen. Top work dudes!

    Another compliment. Having the additional knowledge of pipe fitting and gas code is a plus for your company. That is one less subcontractor you need to hire. I really like your ethic in doing any task called for by your contract. You probably have your lead and second hand well trained for those times you might not be able to be on the job site. God bless you and your company in the future.

    I've done Gas for about the last 4 years now and this is by far the best video on putting in a gas line underground on RUclips. Only thing I would of done different is put some sort of sleeve around the straight transition Risers to keep it from direct contact with the concrete because eventually the riser will rust right at the concrete line. Still a great job though!

    • @OdellCompleteConcrete
      @OdellCompleteConcrete  6 лет назад +3

      I didn't mention it in the video but I did wrap the riser with foam, so that it wouldn't be in contact with the concrete.
      The riser is also coated in epoxy.
      The foam allows the pipe to move independently from the concrete, incase of an earth quake.

      @@gungraveheat7860 I was at a customer's house recently doing a repair and I noticed a 2" iron gas line running along the wall to the backyard and also a 1" electrical conduit running parallel, with the strut bolted to the wall. Then it makes a bunch of 90's to go up and around a side door. Ugliest thing I ever saw, I wish I would have taken some pictures. It looked like train tracks on the side of the home. That hurts the re-sale value too. Underground is the way to go.

  • @Nativtexan2
    @Nativtexan2 6 лет назад +1

    One thing I really appreciate about your work is you do not appear to do that "it's good enough" crap work. The ends weren't square so you took the time to make it so. I guarantee there's many tradesmen who would have said that it was good enough after the first cut on that flex pipe and used it as is. Many times when I've had to do something to my house I have to deal with stuff that was apparently "good enough" at the time and as a result nothing is like it should be and I spend way more time fixing what was already there versus doing what I set out to do. Keep up the good work!

    First of all, really nice job. Second, over kill! No reason for 2" even for future appliances. You can use the old steel pipe as a casing and shoot 1" poly through. Meaning you would only need to dig pilot holes to set the risers by the meter and near the heater (no trench required). 30ft of 1" would have been good for 374,000btus, 466k for 20'. Well enough for a 40,000btu heater. Steel casing is also used for locations as well.
