Mr. Odell, I just watched this video for the second time and again I am very impressed with your knowledge and skill of your trade. Your are truly a CRAFTSMAN. Too many in the trades today just don't have the dedication and pride in the results of doing the best job they can. I am a 74 year old retired military and electrician and not easy to hand out praise just to make someone feel good. You SIR, again, are a CRAFTSMAN. Thank you!
I have now viewed several of you Video's, and have to say It's truly a breath of fresh air to watch a professional actually do the job the custom is paying for WITHOUT cutting corners to increase the profits. Your technics are a tribute to your skills. Your customers are really fortunate having you and your crew on the JOB!
Thanks for sharing. You and other professionals like you are really helping America. We have lost so much of the hands on ability that we used to have. Glad to see that some of this American know how still exists. I salute you!
Your voice is perfect for reading bedtime stories to kids. It's mid day and I am getting sleepy watching your videos. Not because they are boring but your voice.
Like honestly, the appreciation I have for true quality craftsmanship goes very deep. Look at you in the corner.. You still have dirt on your shirt on your shoulder. You got home from work and continued working, doing voice overs and editing.. Great job!
As a mason of nearly half century now, i very much appreciate pride in workmanship, and a mission for our projects to last forever. I watch your stuff intently, as there is always something to be learned when watching a craftsman. Well done.
I've spent probably the last 5 hours watching several of your videos. They all have a few things in common, hard work, good planning and prep work, great attention to detail, and a fantastic final product. I'm wanting to pour a slab for an aluminum covered porch and it's a beginner slab but it has an extreme slope on the back corner and I think after watching your videos I know what to do, but honestly after watching your videos and the incredible finishing techniques I've seen you and your crew use, I'm hoping I can replicate even a halfway decent outcome. Thanks for the great videos, I've subscribed and I think anyone who wants to learn more about concrete form work and finishing should as well!
Ughhhh, I used to be an Outdoor Construction contractor & it would drive me nuts if the homeowner messed with my work! Would be tempted to whip out a change order on him and charge him $ to re-do the "work" he did, but you have to be customer friendly if you want referrals and a good reputation. I wondered, before you explained, why the rebar was clear out at the side of the form. Great work! Your attention to detail makes you a great contractor. Thanks for your videos!
Great video. I really enjoyed that one. I especially liked that you combined rapid video with some real time segments. I encourage you to do more of that because it helps me to learn the technique.
I know I don't only speak for myself ... You sharing in great detail your expertise is greatly appreciated. I am in the very near future going to build my own house ... And i mean me . I am in high gear studying concrete work, as I have experience in most other aspects.
Hi Mr. Odell, just found your channel having been doing a bit of research for laying a concrete base for a log cabin. Your videos are very informative and demonstrate your indobted skill in this area of construction. Thank you for your efforts. regards G
Nice work dave. nice 2 see your son getting down w a trowel n edger, your teaching him alot. tell him about the customers, some are great, others you know about the others. like wire mesh in that work. like some people u just dont even want 2 bid on their work.
Another work of art on the street! Great tutorial with more bonus tips. The floating head narrator thing is pretty usual with gamer channels (to reveal the emotion behind the cussing) but not so usual elsewhere. I'm here for the content and it doesn't matter to me if you are on screen or not, it is the concrete info I'm watching for.
Very clean work. You never disappoint. As for the added animation, I have to say, it distracted me. I found myself staring at you rather than your work. I prefer your traditional background narration. It allows me to really analyze the work details, as you explain it. Much like an audio tour. Hope you appreciate the feedback. Big fan! I especially enjoy seeing you and your sons actually build something together. A rare image these days. They will always have skills in a trade, thanks to their Father. That's something to be proud of, for sure. Be well
Love watching your videos. Done a lot of concrete and granolithic work at my house in the last 41 years. Never had to use a jack hammer to break of the soil, here in Scotland. That was a very tidy job you carried out and I am sure, will lead to more work in the area, if it has not already happened. Nice outlook over the ocean.
Great work. Your team should be proud of the work. That turns out very nice. I've learned my lesson never to hire unlicensed workers again. I ended up learning to do most of the landscape myself after they messed it up.
I think the reason it doesnt' work is because it's a bit distracting seeing you there. Your narrating what we see on the screen rather than 'reacting' to something.
Good job, in locations where you get rain make sure you add some half round profile to make a drip groove between the bottom edge of the copings and the edge of the wall, this will prevent water damaging or staining your wall over time.
Love your work and video's. Highly unlikely I would do some of this, looks a lot easier than what it is to do a great job :) But nice to know what goes into doing something like this so when hiring a tradesman I do have a really good appreciation of what steps are required or options to consider (appreciating there are 101 ways to complete the same job!!!). Keep up the great work.
@@stevelopez372 That's the first thing I noticed when I saw the panned back view and thought of his statement that he wasn't going to brush it. I loved and learned a great deal here. Thank you @OdellCompleteConcrete
Love these videos. Thanks for finally hiring me after all these RUclips interviews. I have to call in sick tomorrow though, my wifes colitis is acting up again and I have to put cream on her periodically. I’m thinking about putting some cement on instead...don’t worry it won’t be from a job site, I’ll buy it myself. See ya Tuesday!
Roof drain. It's been a while since I've worked in cal. But yes , Orco in Riverside? I did a few fastest trowels on the block events there years ago. Nothing but love from this end. You guys did great. Both sides of the house has down spout , looks like comes from gutters
Odell Complete Concrete, maybe two go pros running at the same time from different angles would give us viewers a better perspective? Other then that the workmanship and content keep me coming back...

I actually really like the fact that your face is in the video. It just gives a fun feeling of teaching taking place.

I intend on doing the same thing.
I was just thinking, whenever you're body is tired of concrete work, you def can have a career in cake fondant. That was some smooth butter edging
SOunds good and yummy
I was thinking the same thing while watching this haha
You make it look so easy, the sign of a master.
I always wondered how this was done. Great to finally know! Nice job. It looks great!
I don't agree with people who are asking you to put just the voice, the gamer thing is cool and refresher!! Thank you for the video!

Maybe Ill throw one up again
I dig the format, for me it's nice seeing the face behind the voice. Lends itself to the overall branding of the channel.
im glad you liked it :)

I liked the face in video. It's cool to see you observing before you explain. I find it handy, actually.

I prefer the voice over. But i really apreciate the concrete work
so you dont like me in the corner?
no, just voice over please.
I think the reason it doesnt' work is because it's a bit distracting seeing you there. Your narrating what we see on the screen rather than 'reacting' to something.

Rember seeing a sign in a auto repair when I was younger: 25 dollars an hour rate, 35 dollars an hour if you help!
As usual great job guys. Always a pleasure to watch your videos.

Awesome job as usual, David! I thought the head view commentary was a cool effect...but it did get distracting after a while.

Your techniques and tips and clear camera work and narration help me to learn. The "head" appears useful try it in a few more videos and maybe only for some specific sections to see how it works out over a fair test period. You certainly appear quality driven. I'll second some of the other commenters compliments and there were some tips among those as well. And I'll second some of the safety suggestions regarding dust control. Maybe do show the finished state in a few weeks to answer the comments about the structuring and proportion of the caps and offsets by showing how the cladding in stone and tile answers those issues. I suppose the next ice age will be well advanced before you in your location needs to worry about frost and freezing control or maybe even rain.
I think the head can be used with a few tweaks.
A lot of the comments make sense.
I will be using the floating head again soon.
