I had 7 does bred this year. One miscarried (she's old and wasn't supposed to be bred any way), lost another to Listeria. The remaining 5 dropped 10 kids, 1 set of triplets and 1 single from a first timer. All the kids are healthy and energetic. Their buck was half Kiko and half Savana. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I lost him to Listeria as well. But because I don't have him now, I am keeping all his daughters, that's 7 from this year's kidding and 1 that was born in August. I liked what he brought to my herd. I will be looking for another Kiko/Savana cross buck.
I have been going back and forth on whether it's worth feeding creep to the kids. I'm not really happy with the feed available in my area.

Good to see you back on here Josh. Definitely been a minute. The herd looks amazing. I learned so much by watching y'all's channel. I won't ever own goats, but I love to watch them, and with yours being a meat goat, I learn the business side of raising Kikos. Most of the channels I watch are pet goats or goats, and people raise for lawn mowers. Oh! And dairy goats.
I am so happy you are cancer free and doing good. I keep you and your whole family in my prayers. I had to deal with cancer in my Dad. Unfortunately, he's passed from it, and I miss him so much. Ever since Kevin from Hidden Heights introduced your channel and the fight y'all have been through, I've been praying for y'all. Cancer is ugly, unfair and unkind, and I've lost many friends and family to it. Some are fighting it still today.
Keep on keepin' on! I'll keep on watchin and prayin. God bless.🙏🏼❤️😊

I'm glad to hear that you are cancer free. The goats look great, too.
We have been raising Nigerian Dwarf goats for the past 2 years because we wanted the milk. Last year we bred 2 Does and had 4 Kids. This year we bred 7 Does and had 15 Kids. The last set of twins was born on the 25th.
I have thought about the possibility of trying to breed for miniature Kikos.
Do these Sale Barns take any type of goat breed?

I’ve read that feeding grain isn’t the way. Pasture grass feed is what one wants to strive or cull em. As for your experience and opinion…is this just select situations as for feeding grain or a necessary practice?

I understand not all farms are the same. We do feed some but want the goats to go graze when forage is available and we get the best hay we can for our goats. Supplemental situations like getting them flushed before breeding, giving them some grain while kids are on them, and we creep feed the kids. In the summer months they only get a small amount if we need to catch them.
