Even in the times of Kievan Rus, important centers existed in what is now modern Russia such as Novgorod. In history there are plenty of examples of nations that make geographic shifts and this is what happened here. People of these lands called their nation “Русь” (Rus). During the Tatar yoke they began lengthening the name of their nation to “Россия” (Russia). In the sixteenth century, Russians living under the PLC began to linguistically diverge from those who lived under Independent Russia. It wasn’t until the nineteenth century when these dialects had fully become separated into the Belarusian and Ukrainian languages. Yeah, its not like russians starved 10 million ukrainians to death. just brothers
@@cocojumbo539 You are oversimplifying it, there were all so communist Ukrainians contributing to the starvation of the Cossacks. These famines were deliberately targeting the Cossacks who were seen as the last remnants of Tsarist Russia. They all so had slightly more food than your average peasant farmer.

Best Ukraine Ending:
Ukraine pushes out the Russian military and starts marching to Moscow and eventually capturing it, forcing Russia to surrender and adding the whole of Russia as Ukrainian territory, thus creating the Great United Republic of Kievan Rus.
So your mentality is the same as the occupants one? How are you better than Russia?
@@alex-bj1il And you're one of those kids that support communism and USSR stuff? Grow up. USSR: Dead, Russian Military: Highly demoralized and technically lost, Captured Ukrainian Territories Taken by Russia: Mostly liberated, Russian Generals: Half of all best ones assassinated, Putin: Sick. It was said that Russia had one of the best militaries in the world, but after the invasion, Ukraine just took their place. And that question you asked for the other guy, I think Ukraine is actually better than Russia.
@@welynsneighbor9912Ukraine better than Russia? That's what everyone thought at the start of the invasion, Russia was stronger than Ukraine, but Ukraine ended up having defendant priority. The same will happen in Russia, people fighting for their country this time would have higher motivation and knowdlege of the territory. And also, if you don't support Russia occupying Ukraine, why did you support Ukraine occupying Russia? You seem a bit lost
@@alex-bj1il I do not support Ukraine taking Russia, I just said that Ukraine is better than Russia due to the Russian military being pushed back constantly and equipment either being taken or destroyed, Russia's best generals suddenly dying, they have all the equipment they need yet cant do anything with it. If Russia were in the defending side, the people would definitely rise to fight but because of the Russian leaders who already proved their incompetence in the invasion of Ukraine, I dont think they will have the equipment to do so, leading to another one of Stalin's famous soviet style suicide charge straight into enemy lines. Putin is starting to deteriorate in health and maybe in sanity, so him being able to plan a defense will lead to Russia's destruction. I, too, loved Russia and see it as a great power, but if he keeps going on as to what he did in Ukraine, Russia might just cease to be powerful at all, only being slightly better than North Korea in terms of military might.

@@hussus4481 Ukraine didn’t exist as a state until the Russian civil war. Some people try to make the case that Kievan Rus is Ukraine because it was geographically more centered on Ukraine than Russia is today. There are a few issues with this. Even under the reign of Catherine the Great, Kiev was the biggest intellectual center for Russian Nationalism.
