      I'm not a fan of these brands, but to be fair, the government has forced manufacturers to have high fleet average fuel economy. This is what's behind using small turbocharged engines and hybrids and electric vehicles. Maybe nobody wants to buy them but the government in all its wisdom decides how it's going to be. When the average isn't met the government fines the manufacturer and that cost is passed along to the consumer.

      @@needhelp2453 Right. Government needs to stay out of things, the USA is supposed to be a free market economy. My parents own a 2003 Toyota Tacoma, a small pickup like that isn't available anymore because they raised the fuel efficiency standards for those smaller trucks even more than the big ones to the point it simply isn't possible. It's like those in government don't realize that there are laws of physics, particularly the laws of thermodynamics.
      And who is approving these mergers and acquisitions? The federal government so often won't allow two American companies to merge, but it is fine to allow an American company to be sold to a foreign concern so it can be looted and destroyed, nothing else explains this drastic increase in prices. Before the merger, a Dodge Ram pickup could be purchased for $30k. No longer.

    When I took my Journey 25K with a tick in the engine, the dealer replaced a lifter. 3 weeks later started to tick again. The service advisor said:"If it is the same part we replaced, the warranty will cover it. Otherwise, will be approximately $2800". I walked away. I dismanteled that sucker in my garage. Their stealership service departments are terrible as well. Took in my Jeep with a bad wheel bearing, descibed it as a "roaring noise increasing with speed, but quieter when turning left" they unplugged my brake switch which kept the brake light on, claimed there was a problem with the brakes but they could fix it for $1500.. I plugged the switch back in and bought a wheel hub from AutoZone, fixed for under $100. Took my Rebel to a different dealer with a bad oil cooler, charged a $250 diagnostic fee to tell me they wanted to throw over $5k parts and labor at it with no root cause identified. I fixed it myself for under $300.

    I ended up having issues with the Jeep dealership in Springfield missouri. The work was not done under warranty, it was paid for. The part failed under their warranty period so the vehicle went back in to the shop. The vehicle sat over the weekend and got to call Monday morning saying that there was no antifreeze leak. I told the mechanic to pull it back up on the lift and to grab the supervisor. By the time the jeep was up in the air I asked him what was that dripping from the front of the motor. They said the leak was coming from somewhere else and not their water pump so I took it to another shop that verified that it was the water pump and replaced it. I took the work order back to the Jeep dealership. They paid very reluctantly paid me for the work done.

    The paint bubbling on the hinges wont be fixed with new paint. Took the Jeep down to the local dealership close to me and was told right away by the body tech (smart guy) that the issue is not in the paint.. its the metal under the paint. For the longest time they were repairing the bubbles and raised paint by repainting them, just to have the problem come back. He said that it had to do with the way the metal was treated on certain runs of Jeeps and the whole panel has to be replaced. Problem is.. now there was a wait list for everyone to get their doors replaced with supply chain issues, so I had to wait about a year to get my doors. Luckily when they did get them the dealership had it finished within a week with new panels and new paint. Soooo yeah, if you fall within this group who has the issue, dont think that new paint will fix it.

I left in the comments here that I would buy one as a knockaround car between $25,000-$30,000 Wouldn't be buying it as a sports car just be buying it more as a commuter car. To me that's all it's worth. If they've got thousands of these around the country if they want to get rid of them that's what I'll pay. If they were to sell them for around $30,000 they would get rid of them. Some people wouldn't care they would just want a car to get from point A to point b.

    The more basic the vehicle is it's actually going to be slightly more reliable. Less bells and whistles in a car the less strain on the computer modules. Easier to diagnose when something goes wrong. And my guess as far as the bubbling around the hinges, I think that's rust that's building up underneath the paint. Somehow you got water intrusion in those areas. I would take it to an auto body shop and let them give you their opinion don't take it to the dealership until you get an opinion first before taking it there. Because most likely is that they're just going to sand that area down and cover it up and you're going to have the same issue happen again. But if it is water intrusion it's just going to come back again. Also call stellantis and tell them what your experience was at the dealership and maybe they can find another dealership and contact them with your problem so when you go there they already know what's up.

I loved that the fuse panel was on the dash and not UNDER it, too! Had over 500 K miles and ran like a fine watch. Had to adjust the valves once. .010” on intake, .020 on exhaust and it stopped misfiring intermittently due to insufficient valve clearance! I always loved Mopars, and the “leaning tower of power” as we called the slant 6. Hands down the best 4 stroke automobile engine in history, just as the GM 2 stroke Detroit diesels were the greatest diesels in world history! 😋 They are ingrained into my very being and I love them more than life itself! As someone who works for the body shop fixing the corrosion, it comes from the hinges. The hinges are from a bad batch of aluminum in Mexico and if you grind those and repaint them, it will come back. We change the hinges to the new ones (new ones don't have that problem) and then repaint the hinges and grind down the corrosion transferred to the panels and then repaint your panels. FIAT doesn't pay to blend adjacent panels so there's always a colour mismatch.
    Panels affected;
    Hood, fenders, doors, trunk door
    If you want it done properly, it's practically an entire paint job on the car.

    In California you can routinely get a new 2024 RAM 1500 for over 10,000 off MSRP. A quick search found me a bunch of tradesman trucks, all 4x4s, even a 2500 Crew cab ALL under 45K and most of the basic Tradesman trucks were under 40K and all with the Hemi...I only searched 4x4 and Hemi trucks under 45K and within a 500 mile radius of my location in Southern California I found 117 2024s. That 2500 Tradesman Crew cab 4x4 V8 was MSRP at $68K and is being sold for $44.9K. So, only looking at the MSRP is misleading as to what you will actually pay. I agree that the MSRPs were crazy and are but they don't reflect the drive away price.
    Last Feb I bought a NEW unsold 2022 RAM 1500 Classic Warlock quad cab, 6'4 bed, 4x4 with the odd configuration of having the equivalent of the Bighorn package that got me towing, navi, upgraded interior, power folding mirrors, spray in bed liner, side steps, tow hooks and fog lights for $32,900. MSRP was $54K so thats, uh, quite a deal. Don't fret over MSRP right now.

I think the reliability of the hemi or 3.6 pentastar is better than any Ford turbo. If you got an F150 I'd definitely go with the v8. I think you can get a really good deal on a 2023 RAM if you can find one which shouldn't be too hard, I've always been happy with my RAMs, I've never had any huge maintenance issue or breakdown. I did have a couple recalls on the 2017 that were taken care of. I find them more comfortable and refined inside and out. I also had a 2003 Toyota tundra which I loved but ended up getting very rusty underneath at 100,000 miles and did have some quirky problems, I wouldn't touch a new tundra if it was half price.

It seems after 2020 the quality of cars sucks. I also own a 2012 Challenger Redline. I brought it new for 25k, and my wife's 2014 300S AWD we brought back in 2016 for 31k. My 2018 Ram 2500 Cummins with Snow Chief package was $46k brand new. The Ram brand was always an American made affordable truck, they need to return to their customer base and stop trying to be the Cadillac of pickups. People don’t need a dashboard covered in computer screens and car suspensions that cost a fortune. We want a truck and it needs AC, a good stereo, good engines, good performance towing and doing truck stuff and high durability with easy servicability. That’s it.

The printing of money has covered up the real truth. And I am an electrical engineer. I totally understand that EVs, everything said and done are worse for the environment than a diesel vehicle. Fokls don't research, read, or do math anymore. They just believe what they hear on some media channel or some social network feed. I have 3 Jeeps. A 2006 3.7 Commander that has been bulletproof. Steady maintenance and never a major issue. Gettin rust now but it’s almost 20 years old. A 2019 Rubicon w the 4cyl turbo. Great so far but notice some bubbling too and is very loud for a 4cyl. Only 25k on it so far. A ‘21 Grand Cherokee SR v8 that I ordered and waited 6 mo for. Every single option and was pricey, but was my retirement present from the USAF. Definite quality issues however. Paint is less and 1/2 the thickness of my Commander. Software glitches galore and glass that 3x has broken with nothing hitting it. The second time I submitted 8 hours of video showing how nothing even came close to it because they claimed I did “something” to make that happen. Can see it shatter at the 5hr mark. Now have a crack BETWEEN the layers on the windscreen. Can only see it when passing under street lights or sun but is growing about 1/2” every month.
    Definitely quality issues.

    Stellantis needs to sell the brand back to someone who loves cars and the automobile. I have a 2017 Ram 3500 Mega Cab and I love it! BUT, I have had 13 recalls, the front end refuses to stay aligned and it eats front tires. I used to have the Ram dealer do my service. In 2017-18 it wasn't so bad. These days geez! My center brake light on the cab went out. The truck was in for a recall and I asked if they could put a bulb in while it was there. $175 is what they wanted. I spent $5 for two LED bulbs and changed it myself in 5 minutes. The drivers side window was broken during a break in. Truck was at the dealer again for a recall so I asked for a price to replace the window. $1,250 and it would take 3 weeks to get the glass. I called a local mobile glass company and they went to the dealership and installed a Mopar glass for $250 that same day!!!
