  • Problems I've had with Southwire 14/2 NM Romex (R) Brand Simpull (TM) in the year of 2022.
    Inspector's name L. Reyes.
    I've called customer service three times with these issues on this wire with no direct reply from Southwire 😥 Not too sure what the problem is or even if they care about the quality of wire their putting out. But this issue has been ongoing for over a year now! Fellow sparky's out there, please weigh in on this video of your experience with this wire? Did you'll get a reply back 🙄 from Southwire as to what's causing these problems? Please leave me a (respectful) comment that everyone can read ! Thanks so much for your input 👍 Yours truly,
    Working Man 🛠️ RonDoyle

    Just doing some wiring the other day and noticed this. Thought I had a bad roll, I guess not. No more Southwire for me.

    Same exact problem here in Arizona. Mose builders are not using south wire anymore. Homedepot also stopped selling south wire.

      Wow🤯 that's a shock to hear. Thanks for watching and letting me know. The comments🤔 this video received, I hope will get back to the manufacturer for them to correct this problem!

    Noticed the same thing. The 12/2 has a soft sheath, the 14/2 feels like UF. Hard to rip.

    Just today we were talking about Simpull. We have been super loyal to the brand. No more.... That Romex 14-2 sucks. Horrible.

    Some builders are now using copper weld Romex. It’s copper clad aluminum Romex. The 20 amp rated cable is 10 gage with a yellow jacket and the 15 amp rated is 12 gauge with a white jacket. We will see how it holds up or if it becomes aluminum all over again.

    Yes, I make sure to not buy that brand when I’m picking up wire. When you’re trying to strip it the outer sheathing feels like it’s an 1/8”!thick and brittle. I tried to use it up only on long home runs so I would have to deal with stripping it as seldom as possible.

    I’ve had the same issue. Difficult to strip and install through studs. Sad thing is we’ve been burning through it. We’ve ran thousands of feet of it. I’ve tried to get either CME, Cerro, or Emerson

    Same Problem Here. Paper sucks too.
    We’ve bought wire in Utah and Montana. Both the same issue.
    For how much wire cost you would think it would strip better then that😢

      You know it brother 👍🏻. I can't wait for the price 🤑 to go back down and the quality to go back up. Thanks for watching and commenting on this topic. I appreciate it!

    Hi. Do you know if this is an issue with their 12-3 w/ground. I need to pull about 80' of it. I have to go thru a bunch of floor joints and I was looking for some cable that was easier pulling and didn't get twisted up during the pulling. Thanks.

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I've never have any issues with there 12-2 or 12-3 simplex pull wire. Just the 14-2 so far.

    you're not the only one: I don't know why they are messing around with 14AWG? Is it used somewhere else in the world, and the US is now 2nd tier for this?

    So what's your point

    • @workingmanrondoyle3287
      @workingmanrondoyle3287  9 месяцев назад +1

      If you've had to work with this wire much, it's a royal pain and you'll know it. I said it all in the video, and no longer buy South wire brand 14-2 NM.
      (My point to South wire)
      If there was never a problem with the original 14-2 nm wire jacket? Don't fool around with something that's not broke!!!

      Is it just 14-2 that this happens to? What about 12-2?

    • @workingmanrondoyle3287
      @workingmanrondoyle3287  8 месяцев назад

      @@Braindead154 right now it's just 14-2.
      12-2 NM seams to be normal. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

    Oh no! I have a pair of those strippers and love them. I will have to keep an eye on that

  • @illestofdemall13

    I strip them before I put them in the box or panel whenever possible. I have a Gardner Bender NM stripper that works well.
