Scotty Kilmer I’ve read some people said these fuel cleaners foul up their spark plugs have you experienced this Scotty? Or are they blowing smoke?
It’s been the best stuff for my Ford Focus
Never have i ever been so disappointed by the interior quality Scotty of todays plastic F-150 highly doubt its gonna live up to the rangers anf F-150s from 80s and 90s
Hi Scotty, got a 2014 GMC Sierra. I used to get 21-24mpg. About 60k miles gas mileage started to drop. Now I have 100k miles and I get 18-20mpg. It runs great and have changed plugs and wires as well as all the other maintenance schedule items. What else would you recommend to get gas mileage where it used to be??
So you don't think much of Shell gss??
Been using Lucas on my '99 Silverado 1500 since 160K...Use Castrol High Mileage Full Synthetic...Only fill up at Shell, BP, Chevron, or Mobile...Never had any major engine work...I am currently at 418K.
The new engines with the active fuel management system suck. Nothing but problems. Your year truck has a great engine.
You picky like me when it comes to gas stations. Those are the only ones i use as well. Never will i use quiktrip or citgo gas again.
Sounds like the majority of your miles were highway. 418K is nice, but not unexpected for mostly highway trips. It's short trips and city driving that wears out motors.
Meh not bad, 2 Tundras have over 1 million miles now. J/k lol...not about the Tundras though
Run the additives they will surely clean up your fuel management system and clean oil helps too
What Scotty didn't mention is the lubricating quality of Lucas Fuel Additive. The injectors and fuel pump are mechanical devises which benefit from lubrication. Gasoline is ok for cleaning, but poor for lubricating. Also, which extends the life of the engine, the lubrication added to the fuel will benefit the top piston ring and upper cylinder.
The nice thing about Lucas fuel additive is, it acts like a lubricant. Really good for the fuel pump too.
I have always noticed better gas Mileage and seems to run smoother
I been using it for 🤔 30 years
Alright im getting the consensus that im missing out on another lucas product
I used it in the past, stopped using it and then started again. I would swear Lucus fuel injector cleaner is good stuff! It just runs smoother and quieter.
It definitely works
It doesn't need to be Lucas.
I get better mileage when I use a quality fuel injector cleaner every 10K miles.
This isn't my imagination.
Scotty is wrong.
Sorry pal.
some of us out here are on FIXED INCOMES and all we can afford are "junky" vehicles,I drive a 1991 Isuzu Trooper with 227k miles and I use Lucas and it does work
edgewoodil How do you know it works? How do you know that if you had never used it, your Trooper would be exactly the same as it is today?
Yes it does work, i use it to, so why do you think Scotti says no to everything that works
My ford explorer has 210k and I use Lucas all the time with good results
Thank God I feel better now, but my wife still makes me feel like crap about it.
It also helps with lubrication, helping counteract ethanol's corrosive properties.
Scotty this is something I have got to tell you. I had been going to the same mechanic for years. He was the very best Mechanic I have ever known. He retired and sold his shop about a year ago. You sir and an exact clone of him. He acted like you, talked like you along with his hands and he even looked like you. I miss him.

No way scotty I own a cadillac deville and after the lucas gas additive the engine runs waaaaay smoother then before and mpg went up
Not to mention gasoline wiped or sprayed on something is not the same as when it's combusted/burnt. You don't need any cleaners yet says but there's a government minimum don't worry. He also says don't use marvel mystery oil it'll among several things wreck your catalytic converter. His Celica uses half a quart every couple thousand miles he says in another video. So how does the very light little bit of oil in marvel destroy a cat yet half to 1 quart of 5w30 every 1500-2000 miles is a non issue.
IT happens to me too.
Chrysler 200 lucas upper cilinder.
Runs smooth as i never seen on my car before.
The best from lucas.
Daniel Perez worked wonders on my VW. I swear by that stuff now
Marvel good also

"You only need cleaner if you buy old junkie cars"
That's me.
What if you get bad gas at a gas station?
Not really, I hae a new car, filled up with junk gas 2xs..1st I didn't know and the 2ns was the only gas avail due to hurricane and both times fuel injectors effected
@@jacobnaeyaert9417 it just burns faster and leaves more carbon deposits in the engine, which gives you less mpg
Lmao. Such a stupid way to think this guy has. Instead of using it to treat and issue, you can use it to prevent and never have an old clunker 😂 like wtf kinda non logical thought goes through this mans mind
@@Tdawgsbud What are you even trying to say? Learn how to properly communicate, smooth brain.
Lucas fuel injector cleaner is part of the reason my 04 Dodge/ Cummins 5.9 Diesel w/349k miles still have the original high pressure injector pump and OEM "original" injectors and starts every morning! The other part is the FASS (fuel air separation system) w/3 micron fuel filter. Works Great for Cummins Diesels!
How often do you use it?
I've got 300k miles on my 21 yr old truck and never had to change a fuel injector. Lucus not only aids in cleaning the ethonol crystals that gas won't clean out but it lubricates my injectors. I use Lucas once a month. I'm pleased with it.
How’s it going now ? I have a Dodge Ram with 268k I’m going to let you know how it goes
Do you prefer Lucas over royal purple?
The key is, it's an upper cylinder lubricator! Noticable difference right away with older cars!! Use it all the time with the oil stabilizer 2002 Volvo over 200,000 runs smooth and easy
I've noticed a smoothness when I drop some Lucas injector in my 20+ year old Honda. I agree it acts like an upper cylinder lube. Also using STP water remover helps clean up the tank.
Saw a water remover test and STP works. Also half a can of Mos2 in a oil change helps smooth out the engine!
@@stevel1475
Isn't Lucas additive an oil?
Oil and gas don't mix well
Isn't this stuff going to foul up spark plugs and O2 sensors?
@@dfls5069 they have an oil additive and a fuel additive.
I use Lucas every oil change that combined with keeping all the filters update keeps my 2002 Corolla running like a champ
Toyota’s always run like champs 2002 is basically still brand new for Toyota you can shoot the dam thing and it won’t die
You wasted your money.
Lucus is a great product. My car runs way better when I use it.
Lucas is a must for diesel's will save your pump and injectors and get a 2 micron fuel filter system. Well worth the money it will save you 💰 in the end.
Yup diesel injector cleaning is pricey
every time a diesel comes into my shop, even if its for brakes, hold on folks, first thing i need to do is order the fuel filter
Yes it is! Pump, plunger pairs need lubrication, this compound is great for that!
Husky supermax diesel and shell v power best diesel. I get most gas millage from these and using Lucas fuel additive helps even more.
Yep, I use it, change oils and filters, never been into it for anything but couple sets of glow plugs. 1995 7.3 ford 250 with close to 700k. Take it across country to hunt a couple times a year. I trust it. Got a 2011 6.7 garage queen. Just saying....
I did an experiment with the Lucas fuel additive on a 400 mile highway route I take twice a month. Whenever I used the Lucas fuel additive, regardless of where I bought gas, I would always get an extra 2-3 mpg over 400 highway miles. Even if it's not doing much cleaning, the extra mpg alone more than pays for itself if you buy the gallon jugs. I was driving a 98 Volvo burning premium gasoline and completed 10 replicates with and without the cleaner.
Good to knoww
Yup same for me. I'm not a lab tech or a scientist. But I do know I get 15-20% more miles per full tank of gas with the Lucas lubricant.
Mpg always goes up during highway driving versus around town
@@billprezioso3677 only read the first half huh? Oh the public school system... but in your world you're smart 👍
@@jollypearltank8935 what the heck are you talking about, if I thought I was smart I would know what the hell saying.
I was never a big fan of any additive until I gave Lucas a try. It works great and does what it says. I run it in my 2001 Blazer along with Lucas Oil Additive. Fuel injectors DO get dirty over time and the best gas in the world won't clean them.
Is the oil in Lucas fuel additive not going to foul up spark plugs and O2 Sensors?
Agree
No it does not foul anything, same with marvel mystery oil in the fuel.
It doesn't need to be "Lucus".
Gumout works fine to clean injectors too.
And like others say.....I sometimes get as much as a 3 mpg increase after using an injector cleaner.
On a 1500 mile trip.....that makes a noticeable difference.
@@jstravelers4094not every additive (brand) is equal. lucus is proven to have very clean products
I used Lucas on my 2010 Nissan Maxima, which began getting less gas mileage about 2 years ago. It worked great, and based on comments here, I’ll use it again. And I’ve only used premium gas which Nissan required so it’s not because of using bad gas.
I had a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with 6.6L LB7 with the notorious CP3 pump failing. When I used Lucas injection cleaner I could actually watch the pressures change in the system from its effect. Made a pretty significant difference in performance.
this dude says no to everything lmao
Aaron Arevalo foreal ,dudes advice on everything is not touch anything or do anything to your car
I think this guy is full of crap.
Anita Martini no
Ikr
Except for Toyotas
Cleaning properties of Lucas is not the major reason to use it. The extra lubrication factor is what helps make Injectors last as well as get more life out of a fuel pump.
I put it in my 1993 thunderbird every other fill up. My car used to idle high until I started using it. This is in summer driving. 257,000 and still runs great. Uses 1/2 quart between 3000 mile changes.
Thanks for the Video..... I know you said the Cleaner was not necessary, but we used it in an older car and it greatly improved the overall performance and reliability. Maybe it pulled water out of the tank, I don't know but it stopped the problems we were having.
I’ll tell you what, Lucas transmission fix is an effin miracle
My dad always claims it fixed a transmission in his car 😂😂 he swears by it
Yep I totally agree, my dad had to use Carlot for many many years and that Lucas transmission fix made a big difference in many, many vehicles ability to shift properly.
Yes! I put some in my older CVT transmission after cleaning the pan and replacing the seal and it shifts like a dream now.
I did notice a difference on my shifting i'm at 250K miles Toyota Celica
It helped me get over 50,000 miles out of a Ford Taurus transmission after it started slipping bad.
I run ethanol free 90 octane in everything and I decided to give the Lucas a try and I noticed better MPG's and a smoother running engine and with felt like a little more performance. Witch I can understand because the Lucas is a lubricant that will increase ring seal for a better bang!
I have a 2002 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder with 272,000 miles on it, I use Lucas fuel treatment at least once a month, I like to believe that helps keep my fuel system and car running great. I like the fact that it's an actual oil, not like a regular liquid like other fuel treatments.
Lucas works best in diesel engines from what I've seen. It helps to lube the injector pump and injectors.
Injector cleaner is especially useful if the car has been sitting for a long time and the fuel in the system has gone stale.
My car was sitting and I failed my emission test it said some about my Catalytic converter but no engine lights on
I do a lot of driving.
I keep my vehicles forever and I do know for a mathematical fact that using Lucas every tank more than pays for itself in fuel economy and the upper cylinder lubrication can't hurt either.
I put Lucas on salads.
Lol
😂😂 te mamas
With a little olive oil.
Taco salad?
@@benrobles752 Excellent idea!
Lucas Gas Treatment works great. If you have a older car it will help!
Tony how old are we talking? Would be good for 2005?
Is seafoam just as good.. what’s the difference?
Marvel Mystery Oil works great.
How about Liqui Moly Diesel purge injector and fuel system cleaner?
Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant can help with valve clatter on a old car that was designed to run on leaded gas.
As soon as I sense Scotty is going to joke & laugh, I almost always look at the top corner of the video for a laughing animal to pop up and they do! Love it Scotty! Not only are are a great mechanic, you are quite an entertainer! :)

I use the Lucas fuel additive every 3rd or fourth tank of fuel. Sometimes you can get a bad batch of gas regardless of the brand. I also use it for vehicles that I know have sat for awhile. Never had a problem with it.
The explanation Ive heard is that there is varying percentages of ethanol from corn added to gas and it can gum things up so a fuel injection cleaner such as lucas can help keep things clean.
Lucas even makes a specialized ethanol treatment but I rarely see it. But the regular Lucas fuel treatment seems to have that covered anyway!
@@jaminjef I believe the ethanol one removes water in the tank. I saw a RUclipsr use STP water remover in a test. And it works.
Own an 07 Silverado with 180k, (which are mostly highway miles) and needs 89 octane. I have a difficult time finding 89 in my area I started hearing knocking. Today, I filled up on 87 and added Turbo 108. I felt a difference immediately; the engine ran smoother and the knocking stopped. Be aware you MUST use it on a full tank or it will affect your spark plugs and emission system.
Been using Lucas fuel additive for 19 years. its great when you can find it for around $3 or less but Seafoam intake cleaner and Seafoam fuel additive is the best. Seafoam breathed new life into my 2006 Nissan titan.
Thank you. I was wondering Lucas or Seafoam
Buy Lucas by the gallon and refill the small bottles haha
Nah seafoam is bad Lucas and Gumout is better
I had a check engine light on and wouldn’t pass inspection. I just put Lucas fuel injector cleaner and the light when out after 20mins
I couldn’t believe it.
Lmao wow..! Maybe that’s what I need 😮
There are minimum standards for gas sold in the United States. One thing Scotty keeps telling is some people are crooked. Just because it's the law doesn't mean someone isn't going to sell you a bad tank of gas that cruds your injectors up.
You are 100% correct. We see many fuel related problems in the service business.
my 72yr old diesel mechanic with 50+ yrs of experience uses it. I use it. Lucas works.
I personally have had great experience with Lucas treatments (oil, fuel, injection) . I am definitely going to keep using it.
I used Lucas in Maxima b4 i sold it. The engine was super quiet. It had 220 k miles. I also noticed there is a difference between top tier gas and the non top tier.
Great vid been using lucas for years myself, just started watching your channel great info, and with those sunglasses I feel like Dennis Hopper is giving me auto care tips.
I put Lucas gas treatment in every fill up since 50,000 miles my car runs like a top it’s now at 100,000. No need to blow the carbon off the Pistons. I highly recommend using this every Time you fill up
I know a guy that works at a fuel depot. He claims the gas is all the same, it all comes through the same underground pipeline. The only difference is when a company , like Shell , dumps an additive into the tanker when it’s being loaded with gas. IT ALL COMES FROM THE SAME PIPELINE ! Now they have an injector system that puts the additive in while the tanker truck is being filled .
Most differential work is replacing carrier bearings, pinion bearings and axle bearings. It's very satisfying work and if you take a class and buy a few special tools you can have a lot of fun. You do have to study it first, especially pinion depth, but if you are only replacing carrier bearings which is the most common job you only have to know how to measure backlash and adjust backlash.
I reccomend Lucas oil in your rear differential. Awesome! Log truck drivers use it often in their semi trucks.
I used the O’Reillys high mileage additive about two full tanks ago, for about two weeks now, and I’ve noticed an improvement in my 91 corolla wagon. It seems to have more strength now and when I step on the gas I notice I don’t have to step as hard. It sounds better. So it seems to me like I’ve had some improvement with my car. And I met a guy with a truck in O’Reillys who told me that Lucas additive works well for him. Generally my car seems to be better, so I don’t know how much I agree with Scott about this. I wish I had known about these additives earlier I think. I think they’ve made my car go better for now at least.
No car is good enough for Scotty not even bicycles he always finds something

I have a 2019 Sentra, at 20,000 miles the dealership raised concerns about the injectors. I started using Lucas Injector cleaner, and at 40,000 miles there’s no concerns about the injectors, and I get better MPG than I did before starting to use Lucas.
Is that cat pillow named... SCATTY ? Lol. Keep up the good videos work man
😂good one
Lol😂😂😂
Scotty, I use this to eliminate the ethanol in the fuel, for my older Corvette
Scotty's probably right about the inspector cleaner. All my vehicles are over 100k. I buy Lucas by the gallon. Put it in the vehicles every 2-3 tanks. Probably costs me about $30 bucks a year. Gives me the fiz. Going to keep doing it.
I've done bench tests and kept points over 2 years. Lucas keeps gas water free (from that stupid ethanol) which helps injectors and I notice enough mileage difference just barely to make it worthwhile. I had to replace a fuel pump (doubt it was from the Lucas, truck had 380,000kms) and noticed the gas tank was spotless. I'd recommend that stuff!
It's not just about saving fuel. A more efficient running engine will be a cleaner engine and a longer-lasting engine.
Not all gas created equal. Don't drive below quarter tank. Fill up at 1/4 tank.
That's to keep the fuel pump cooler when it's located in the tank.
@Island Mike pump works less to suck up the gas
@@Prosecute-fauci this is why sediment is on the bottom , gravity gas weighs less than the sediment less effort to suck up gas more gas less chance of sucking up the crud
Yep, dont run below a quarter of a tank and you wont get a clogged filter sock that starves the fuel pump, killing it.
@Island Mike thermodynamics is a science motor works less =less heat . and as far as crud goes put watter and sugar in a glass suck on a straw near the bottom see when you get sugar.

The problem with Modern Gasoline is the Ethanol. It can create a varnish that clogs the nozzles on EFI Systems.
I've had a hell of a lot about the varnish in old motorbike tanks. It's horrible to clean out
and eats rubber like acid on poop
I filled up two weeks ago and the engine began hesitating and didn't run smoothly. A week later I filled up again at a different filling station and the problem went away. The problem was bad fuel and it's likely that the station was watering down the gas.
Or a leak into one or some of their underground fuel tanks. this has happened to me at BP in Md.
You should do a show talking about the fairly common problem of buildup on the intake valves in the new engines with direct injection.

This Lucas additive leaves an oily deposit which protects from carbon buildup..I use it every fill up !!
The newer fuel is garbage when you drive older vehicles with rubber fuel lines. I have to put 2 cycle engine oil to keep my fuel lines lubricated because of the stupid ethanol in the gas. lol
I always try to buy ethanol-free gasoline.
I use Marvel oil yours is probably cheaper
I love how everytime you mention junky vehicles a Benz pic pops up!!🤣😅🤣👍
You can say what you want Scotty but I use Lucas at every fill-up and I know for a certainty that I get increased MPG if I use it consistently. In fact we average over 29 MPG with our 2009 RAV4 and on a trip we have done over 32 mpg yet EPA rated only for 28.
Lucus is the Juice! Used it since new in my car . More MPG runs more quiet more power would not want to go without it..
And the extra cost means how many total cents per mile with and without?
@@wholeNwon 6 cents per us gallon
If Lucas gave you consistent increases in gas mileage, the manufacturers would build a resevoir in the engine bay and demand that you fill that resevoir with a Lucas equivalent product every time you fill up. This would allow them to meet increasing fuel standards set by the govt and save the car companies Billions in development of other technologies that they incorporate to meet said fuel standards.
Michael
It would be sold or licensed to gasoline marketers and blended like any other additive into the fuel.
As a former AC mechanic I can confirm it's always the compressor 🤣
True
Last 3 cars that had AC problem was the clutches. 2 were actually the magnet actuator, last was just clutch walls too thin to get gap under .040" and stay engaged. ETA: None were hybrids or Altimas....
@topspeed sorry to hear that but at least you helped this economy get off its feet
@@roccobro it's a running gag didn't need your knowledge boner.
The AC compressor in my 2001 Camry is original, still ice cold.
I love the honesty.... Many life long mechanics will boast on knowing it all and being able to do it all, myself included but I would never rebuild a differential for all the same reasons. Scotty you are the man!!!
My 2012 Altima’s AC compressor went at 70k miles. Dealer charged $1250 to repair. The wanted to charge $400 to replace spark plugs (4-cyl). Piece of junk…got rid of it in 2019.
I don’t think I am the only one who has the “placebo” of Lucas UCL makes more horsepower, I had done numerous times of switch back and forth between having UCL vs not and the car always feels more powerful after adding the UCL. I have tried also tried other fancier looking bottled fuel additive such as STP and Royal purple but this plain looking cheap stuff actually makes a noticeable difference every time.
I think your great Scotty, you are always honest and usual right on the money.
Lucas upper cylinder lubricant does work!
I was sitting here imagining Mr Scotty as Morpheus in The matrix got a nice little chuckle out of that
I’ve used lucas and it made a world of a difference in 06 pontiac runs. Way smoother and better response on throttle
Been using Lucas in my fuel for 10-20 yrs. Car is 17 yrs old ( and a Chev!) has 520,000 km on it -same engine (V6) and no work done on it... and no valve clatter. Seems to help.
I just got 2 bottles of Lucas fuel additive. I only got it because I bought an older car with higher miles from Craigslist.
If it ain't broken, don't "fix" it.
you're gonna need more that Lucas
I never buy Lucas on Craigslist
Scotty, I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey. My AC quit a month ago. I took it my local Military Auto Skills shop. They recommended I get a new high pressure line. Advance Auto sent me the low pressure line which I returned. I found what I needed on Rock Auto (the high pressure line and the high pressure switch for < $60.00 including shipping. The Auto Skills Shop mechanic their installed the part, purged the system, leaked tested the system, lubricated it and recharged it w 134a for less than $150.00. What a win.
I use Lucas oil additives every oil change and all Lucas oil products I can and I use their fuel system cleaner once a year in my 95' 300zx and it has made a noticable difference for me before.
Redline SI-1 is the best fuel system treatment I've ever used. Marvel Mystery Oil is also an excellent product if used correctly.
Redline makes some good stuff. They make the only transmission fluid that solves the 6F35 hard shifting issues.
Scotty, could you do a video on AMSOIL, synthetic oils.
Scotty already said you're doing it wrong.
Go to the hardware store & buy a gallon of Xylene (shellac thinner) then dump it in your tank. Drive your car & clean the injectors at the same time. Back before we had injector cleaner at a Ford dealership I worked at we used 1/2 gasoline & 1/2 xylene in our injector cleaning machine as per the Ford service rep instructions at the time (1986). Xylene also makes great racing fuel in a pinch @ 128 octane lol
We had a gas station near me get shut down and the guy arrested for cutting his gas with something lol. Cheap gas can actually lead to a more expensive fix people! I always use a good fuel treatment with used vehicles because you never know what people put in the vehicle!
The Amazing Lucas! Ohhhh My Goodness!
I have been using the Lucas as an MPG booster in my Tundra. It is only a couple of miles per gallon, but it makes a difference between fill ups.
I use Marine outboard two cycle TCW3 rated oil at 1oz per five gallons of gasoline. Works like Lucas at half the price. If it cleans and lubes outboard engines it will clean and lube your vehicles engine. The W stands for water cooled. That’s what your vehicle is. Water cooled. Won’t harm sensors or converters. It burns ashless with the fuel.
I mean, I just hit 180,000 miles on my 2010 Fusion Hybrid. So far I've been able to diagnose the few small issues myself. Most recent and expensive was the ABS module, bringing my total parts and labor (Ford dealer reprogramming / service bulletins) cost to just under $1000 for the life of the car.
Aside from reprogramming the computer ($120 at our local dealer), I can do pretty much everything myself. And this is the first and most "problematic" model year for the Fusion Hybrid. I honestly couldn't be happier with it.
