I've been binge watching your videos since I discovered your channel a month ago. You along with other small (but in reality 1.6k+ subscribers is a lot of people) photography content creators have really inspired me to just shoot with what I have and not just aim to get the newest flashiest cameras.
Dug up our old Olympus LT-1 family camera. And I am now looking to buy an Olympus XZ-1 as a carry anywhere camera. Please keep doing these informative videos that share the experiences and love of photography.🍀✨

That is so heartwarming and wonderful to hear Jose. Definitely the thrill and joy and intent behind this channel. Photography should be accessible and it's shocking how many capable tools there that have very low financial barriers to entry. As someone who has been fortunate enough to have shot so many of the best modern cameras through work, I find so much more joy in the limitations and simplicity of early digital or offbeat film cameras. And the LT-1 is such a cool looking camera, though I've never shot it myself. Enjoy!!

I had no idea how much I would love shooting point and shoot. Until a month ago I found my moms old Olympus zoom in a storage box. Loaded it with film and a new battery and took my granddaughter cloths shopping. The images were so sharp so good it just blew me away. We walked the streets in Seattle shop to shop and I had so much fun with this small easy to shoot camera. Now I want this 35 Ti because it gives a little more control and has such a sharp lens from what I see. Plus it is such beautiful design. As a companion to my Hasselblad 503 CW this would make my dream kit.

The main advantage to the cropped panorama mode back in the day was that photofinishers would automatically spit out a 4x10" print of those images.
The printing machines used rolls of paper, so a 4" paper roll would be able to produce 4x5", 4x6", and 4x10" without having to switch rolls. While you'd pay more for a 5x7" or 8x10/12", you'd usually get 4x10" panoramas for free, or only a slight upcharge, over the basic 4x6" developing and printing cost.

Ah, if you like this camera you'll love the Contax G1 and G2.
I have the G1 and the three lenses that was available for it. Designed and manufactured to the high-end lux aesthetic. Titanium body. Zeiss optics. Super-quirky autofocused mechanical rangefinder. They tried for a M6 but with AF. Contax wasn't successful getting there, but the resulting camera is definitely interesting.
The Zeiss lenses are fantabulous. Pick up the 45mm f2 Planar if nothing else.
Hmmm... Prices hasn't gone up much it seems. I bought the body for about $300 ten years ago. Looks to be still about the same.

Finally, another upload! Another camera is going up in price then😂. Speaking of Ken Rockwell, you should see his review on the Olympus 35 SP. That single comment about it being "poor man Leica" with actual Leica glass quality (Zuiko Lens) blew me away. I got it a couple months ago, and I have to say the picture it produced came out beautiful!
Like some people here, I've been binging your videos for weeks. The first video I stumbled upon was the XZ-1 because I was trying to find a digital alternative to the increasing film price in my area. In the end, I was "poisoned" by your recommendation and ended up getting one for 75$, which is a good deal, id says. It's not in mint condition, and the lens got a little fungus on it, but it is a great compact camera for daily stuff! Would love to get "poisoned" more by your vids, keep it up 😆😆😆!

Funny that little flap on the film door side is pretty much what they've used on every pro Nikon body. F5-Z9
    It's also on the D200, D300, D500, D850, and other external grips.
That one in particular is a little smaller.
It's also have it on the DF. A camera you should absolutely try. If you do, don't be afraid to just take the door off, I regularly took mine off while swapping batteries and just looked at like I was changing film on a Leica. If Nikon doesn't plan to make a FX Zfc I'll have to buy a new DF.

There are very few cameras that I go, wow, that's totally worth the money it costs. Usually, I find that I use these "expensive" camera's and then find a cheaper alternative that I like better...but from your images the 35Ti is worth every penny. People talk about BS stuff like "3D pop", but dammit, this little camera's rendering is just shockingly good, and not just for a P&S. And I said this before, but this camera seems to work super well with how you like to shoot and these images are some of my favorite you've shared since you started this channel.

About two years ago, I was handed down this camera when my FIL passed away and while I keep it as a keepsake, I sort of passed it off as another point and shoot. At the time, I was shooting a Canon AE-1, Nikon F, F3, basically SLR that gave me a lot of control over my images (I'm coming over from digital.. well film, and then digital, and now back to film) and I remembered looking through eBay to see what the current price was for it. A year ago, it ran for around $400-500 mint from Japan. I just checked today and you can find it as high as $1000, wow! I think I ran 2-3 rolls through it and while impressed with the sharpness, I found that out of each roll, I was getting about 3-4 images where the autofocus missed. Maybe I was still too used to the autofocus speeds of my Sony a7iii a7c, etc and just fired off before the autofocus could find focus, but I should give this camera another shot...

@@OneMonthTwoCameras I have some slide examples from shooting mid-day at a white sand beach with a backlit subject in front of the sun/reflected water and the metering nailed it. I know you shot the Fuji s5, but there are some good ccd Nikon dslrs from their early ranges.

@@ledheavy26 that’s amazing about the slide film. I would love your recommendation on any Nikon CCD cameras. I have the D 40 and D 100 which I have not yet shot extensively but Nikon is a little bit out of my wheelhouse so always looking for suggestions if you have them!

    • @ledheavy26
      @ledheavy26 2 года назад

@@OneMonthTwoCameras I still use my D70s I bought new in 2006. I love the 1/8000th shutter speed, it's high flash sync speed with wireless flash control, and it can use my older af-d lenses I use on my af 35mm cams. It might be a redundant recommendation if you have the D100 and D40, I would assume image quality wise that the D70s and D40 are on par with each other. It would probably come down to your personal preference for how the camera operates and feels in your hands (the D70s probably handles more like the D100). The only other ccd Nikon DSLR you can really consider would probably be the D200. You have experience with that body in the Fuji s5 but the sensor is different, some say the best. I've been meaning to pick one up. I'd say the best part about Nikon is the lens catalog but you just have to make sure which lenses are compatible (metering mainly) on some of the dslr cameras (I know the D40 is more limited than the D70s/D100).

I bought one of these cameras awhile back, but it never arrived. Either it was never sent or it was lost in the mail. However, Etsy refunded me what I paid for the camera as neither myself or Etsy could get in contact with the seller. Seems they may have been dodgy. To say I was disappointed was an understatement because I was looking forward to having a 35Ti. I'd still like to get one, but I'll be far more careful, next time.

Could you please stop reviewing dream cameras that I'll never be able to purchase? 🤣🤣🤣
Great review!! I'm just kidding keep em coming. Love your videos.
Also, i believe the T mode is Shutter speed priority, you should be able to set a shutter speed when selected. I could be mistaken, but that would be my guess.
    Cheers!

Ha! I hear you. This camera was gifted to me so I feel stupidly fortunate. The T mode does in fact stand for time but in the Bulb sense rather than shutter priority. I know someone who shot a whole roll thinking it was shutter priority and boy was he bummed when he got the roll back :P

@@OneMonthTwoCameras that happened to me with an iPod. I started collecting iPods and a friend had two that he just gave me, a 2nd generation and a 4th generation U2 both in great condition which is quite rare!! About the T: can't you set the shutter with the dial?

Absolutely! I have my eyes out for the Nikon L35AF - nearly just bought one. I have a cheap Konica rangefinder (35 Automatic) which I love and have reviewed on the channel.

Not gonna lie... I've always thought this camera was "delicious" looking like you say (I'm a sucker for analog meters and dials), but I honestly *hate* this camera overall. Mostly just because it was overpriced "chic" when introduced and it's value just keeps going up. The *Ricoh GR1s* (and others in that line) are much better shooters (to me) for 1/3 the price... And like you know, *any* of them can become a paper weight (the Nikon or Ricoh or Contax, all of the same super-compact electronic type) at any moment for any reason. :D But yeah... it's purdy.
I've shot one but have never owned one - its features are great and that's good to know for many about the accuracy of its AF (I had a Contax T2 for several years and, aside from the nutso price they're going for, I mostly sold it because I hated its AF - back-focused like a bastard all the time!).. But I found the Nikon's handling super weird and fiddly in use... and difficult to comfortably hold. I dunno. I'd rather have the Ricoh. :) Or even the Konica C35 honestly. But I certainly get the Ti's appeal! Really great vid!
