I have a 35Ti and I dearly love it. The mixture of digital readouts and analogue is what made me have to have one. Wouldn't mind having the 28Ti too but the prices have really jumped for those since I got the 35Ti.

Years ago I bought my only point-n-shoot camera. Undecided between the T2 and the 35Ti, I bought both, did resolution test charts on both and just used each a bit. The pros on the T2 were good sharpness and high contrast at most apertures, plus very even optical performance across the image and at most used f-stops. This makes auto exposure more reliable. Also the T2 controls are fewer and conventionally operated. Features it has work well and conveniently. The 35Ti lens is a little sharper in the center at a few stops, but its edge resolution was a bit less at most stops. Its matrix metering system may work better in odd situations, but did not seem superior in daily use. However, the controls are a combination of digital buttons (very small and hard to use) and analogue dial readouts (just for styling); they are hard to read. The 35Ti has a large number of user modifiable features, but they are buried in a multi-level menu system which is impossible to use without the camera manual. Overall, I kept the T2 because it was easier to use to take photos, and gave up the "play around" features of the 35Ti. (For those who are curious, I paid about $400 for each camera in mint condition and made $25 on the Nikon when resold.)

Hey man, great break down between the two cameras. I love shooting film and I'm looking for a quality point and shoot camera that will last me a while. Where did you buy your cameras? On eBay they are ridiculously expensive. Thank you for your help!

@@iOSJailbreaksSL Keep in mind that I bought these cameras at least twenty years ago, so prices were quite different. I bought them both on ebay. I resold the Nikon by consignment at my local camera store, itself now long gone. Nikon resold within 48 hours. If I were buying a camera like this today, I would seriously consider a Konica Hexar AF. Over its model life, there were about six versions of the Hexar; if you are interested, it is worth the time of investigate it on the internet to sort out the small feature differences between them. The one knock given the Hexar is that its top shutter speed is 1/250, which can be frustrating if you use it to shoot very fast or pushed film. (Solution: for only the occasional situation, pack a 2 or 3 stop ND filter.) Its positives are a lens which is even better than the T2 or 35Ti, as well as being a full stop faster, and an extremely complex and fast AF system. Unhappily, it not greatly less costly than the Nikon or Contax.

@@randallstewart175 I ended up going with the Nikon 35Ti. It was in my price range, it has the built in flash, it can fit in a pocket (as long as I don't wear skinny jeans) and I know it will last me a long time.
Thank you so much for your input!

@@randallstewart175 Mate that write up on the T2 and 35ti is exactttttly the sort of stuff I want to know, extremely helpful thank you so much. Hexar AF does look like it takes incredible photos (crappy interface though), I don't think the shutter speed is a major draw back, but having no inbuilt flash, wahhhhh. It's big for a P&S and with a flash added on, you ain't putting that in your pocket.

    hi
i’ve purchased a contax t2 and it isn’t here yet
it’s been rigorously thoroughly tested for functionality
however i’m worried what if there are light leaks etc or some problem if i develop film with it
is it possible if a camera is fully 100% functional and been tested for integrity but it could be faulty while developing film?

I recently got a 35Ti and a rollei AFM35 (Fuji klasse) to compare and/or the Nikon popped up the same day I bought the Rollei. I like the Nikon more, as a gut reaction but I’m waiting to pick up the first roll of film from it. I shot both at the same time trying to match the frames up as best I could to “do science to it” and get a better feel for which I prefer. I have found that the Nikon chews through batteries so far, but they’re just normal Duracell lithium cr123s… 🤷‍♂️

Great video overall. But there were definitely moments of tmi if you catch my drift. And I found myself trying to skip through those parts to get to what I came here for. Which was what the title told me it was about. And not about your surf trip and your sandwich and the malls of costa mesa or whatever. Lol sorry if that sounds harsh. Just being honest and maybe being from New York doesn't help my brutal honesty either. But I am trying to make it as constructive as possible and by far am not hating or trying to be negative

Thanks for commenting. It’s a hard balance of just giving information vs creating something visually interesting as well. Videos will get the same comments as this but then then another will ask for the opposite. RUclips has such a a broad audience that it’s hard to make something liked by all.

@@FilmSupplyClub i totally get that. And like I said, there were parts, not the entire thing by any means. Certain parts felt like they needed some streamlining. Cut some of the fat, type of editing when it comes to some of the personal stuff I guess. I totally get what you're trying to do. A little bit of a Casey Neistat style thing. And for the most part its working pretty well. But I guess the biggest difference is that his videos are lifestyle based, with reviews snuck in here and there. So we do want to see all of those little personal details about his surfing trips and his sandwich hahaha. Whereas, as far as we can tell, yours is a review channel, trying to sneak in some lifestyle stuff? Which, Again I'm not mad at at all. I think its a great and smart idea. But maybe that more personal content can be just a little more streamlined. So the pace of it moves along snappier (more snappy?? Lol) So its like, oh that's cool, now on to the main subject at hand.

@@akyerit good input and noted. Thanks for taking the time to write and watch. - another note. That video was made as Covid was just beginning so I was left to ‘Vlog’ vs have a usual videographer. That video particularly was an experiment and you’ll find most of the other videos on this channel don’t follow that style. Thanks again.

Nikon wins in most departments: I was hoping for a side by side comparison, this are random selection sessions; Nikon metres via a matrix system so it can handle even slide films
Velvia 50would have been a good choice to see if the camera auto compensates; contax could not show its full potential in these tricky scenes

For a real comparsion, one should shoot the same scenery, exact the same time, date with both cameras and same film, then compare 1:1. And the "music" is sorry, but the biggest crap i've ever heard on YT. Both Point & Shoot Cameras are very good.
