I have a haltech elite 2000 in a turbo au xr6, I purchased the hp academy tuning course which is very informative but it's good to see some "hands on". Tuning like anything I guess is one of those things you need to be doing frequently to become fluent in but it is very rewarding once you understand the fundamentals and start to progress.
Oh nice, My EF was Turbo for a while.. I learned to tune with the J3, it wasn't ideal but were talking when they first came out pre 2010 haha. HPA is great value and you are right, you just keep picking up little pieces over the years. I don't know skylines as well as I do Falcons, but the Haltech makes it easy enough. What's the setup on the AU?
@@GapSauceRUclipssohc vct, cp corrillo pistons, corrillo H beam rods, ported head, arp studs, 6boost, snort ff plenum, ls1 coils, crow springs, 275 crow cam, elite 2000, haltech wideband, walbro 460, 1150cc bosh injectors, flex system, turbo smart 45 hypergate, turbo smart 1200 fpr, tuff mounts, built (as much as it can be!) Btr. 3584 turbo, 3 inch vbanded exhaust from dump. Only recently run in so it's on a safe tune and yet to be dyno'd. The engine was built for 1200hp but it'll never see it, the original build sheet was to just do a forged bottom end with head studs but it quickly escalated! And then I though well if I'm doing all this then I want decent engine protection so haltech was the go to for Me. Wired it myself which was interesting and fun but luckily I've tinkered with ecu wiring in the past so it wasn't completely alien.
@@JTECH7766 Thats an awesome build mate! Really love that you went with the SOHC, I have a real soft spot for them. Killer effort wiring it in too, I'm not quite as confident with the electrical side of it yet. I can do it, but not as proficient as I'd like to be.
@@GapSauceRUclips a barra was an option and in reality they are a much more efficient engine to make power on but I wasn't chasing big power despite the build, and I wanted a "factory looking" engine bay. linksharing.samsungcloud.com/8VNQzm2J1mv2
Hahah thanks mate! Nothing like Milo for a good hearty breakfast 🤣 Hopefully I can give people the confidence tonat least install the ECU themselves and get it running enough to either begin road tuning or drive to the dynon🙂
Good stuff. What has been done to the engine? Please show the entire tuning process. I'm currently learning through HPA but love seeing real world examples.
Oh and it was a forged AWD Rb26/30. Currently a stock rb30 bottom end with 26 head, tomei 270 cams, GTX3582, flex fuel. Etc. Potential for 650whp or more if I really want to lean on the bottom end. I'll be building it back up with a forged bottom end and some porting in the future. Maybe chase a 9second pass.
Before I start any tuning. I vheck base timing. So yes. I tuned a car a few weeks back that had the base time set at +45 just so it would run without a tune to be sold 🤔 All fixed and back at 15 where it should be.
Very important to set the timing and upload a tune specific to your set, MAF/MAP etc. You can try moving the trigger angle or the CAS around to see if it will fire. But you will want a timing light if you want it to be correct

I like where this is going!
I liked it at the milo ad before the start of this vid. Lol
Great vid mate and im definitely keen to start to tune my own ute so these vid gonna help.

Certainly can mate, I'll bring everyone along on my learning curve too 🙂 HPA has some good stuff!

Very nice. I'll be watching as you chase those 9s bud.
@@driftorcircuit Thanks mate 🙂
2 years ago, im just chiming in. Did you "first" manually set the timing to 15degs?

I tried Haltech ECU on RB26DETT stock engine but wouldn’t start. I done have a timing torch though.

Next time I'll get that exhaust valve opened up so it doesn't sound like a Datto 120Y 😅
little bit different from my eb falcon.
A little, you should still verify that it matches 🙂 What's the setup? I have an EF as well, was Turbo. Soon to be 351 v8
Are u a mechanical engineer? Lol
What is your occupation bro?
Aircraft Maintenance Engineer 🙂
Wanna sell it lol? 🙊
Haha, how 'bout we race for pinks?
Any updates on this one
