    I have a 2023 Tiger 850 Sport. If you want to laugh, I highly recommend loading up the Tiger 850 Sport map and looking at ETV 2 (highest of the only 2 modes). Now load up A Tiger 900 and look at ETV 3. The 850 Sport at 100% throttle is mapped to 100 from 0-3500 RPM then it drops off a cliff to 71.3 and even down to 59.1, hovering between those till redline. They marketed this bike as having good low end torque, easier to ride, etc etc...I'm just laughing at this table. They tuned it to look like a half wet noodle. Comparing even down to 12.3% throttle the 900 has higher numbers throughout. Anyways, I am going to be adjusting my 850 sports table to be like the 900 and then give it the beans at the end. Much cheaper then going to a tuner! Thanks for the video.

      It doesn't surprise me. It makes sense from a manufacturing perspective. You invest R&D, tooling and manufacturing costs into one motor, and then in software you create different power profiles for different applications/bikes...

It has a K&N filter too but it's bone stock beyond that so I'm hoping for the best. Might try removing the snorkel too after getting the tune right and seeing if there are any maps for those types of incremental mods.

    I FINALLY loaded the tune you made for me! I only got it for a couple mile ride because it’s in between raining here. It definitely feels better up top thanks to richening it up some and adding a bit of timing (I only run 93 octane anyway so it can handle it). Unfortunately the throttle/power doesn’t seem much different because the Street Triple was already at is max throttle values all the way to redline so I didn’t get that big difference like a lot of bikes get. It is quicker to come up from the midrange though because it was dialed back on throttle opening down under around 7,000 rpm’s. It’s got the idle hanging really high for about 5 seconds and the throttle sensitivity feels very twitchy but that’s due to the parameters being reset. It’s gotta relearn itself. Thank you again very much for putting that base tune together for me!!
    Oh, and mine only took about 2 minutes to reprogram?? I was expecting much longer like yours. Do you think anything was wrong with that? It said it was complete and it starts and runs fine. Just seemed very fast for a reprogram. Even my truck takes like 5 minutes to load a new tune.

    20:20 - you have made it rich everywhere which means you have access fuel. This access fuel ends up in your oil.

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Год назад +1

      No it doesn't. That isn't a fuel table. That's an AFR target table, and 13.2 is considered the ideal AFR for the cruising range. And if you are getting fuel in your oil, then something is horribly wrong with your motor. If your motor is so rich, and your ring seal is so bad that you are pushing unburnt raw fuel past the rings and into the case and oil, then your motor is toast already.
      None of that is a factor here.

The most irritating issue on my rally pro is the slightly jerky pickup at very low speeds from a closed throttle. I assume this has a setting to prevent the ecu from shutting the fuel supply completely on a closed throttle? It also runs a little lean with my slip-on and it definately has a strict nanny at waiting for me at aroung 200kph!

    Hey Dave, thanks a ton for these videos! I have a '16 T120 with TEC cam, x-pipe, air filter, mufflers, and a DNK tune I bought years ago, which in all honesty works pretty good (and definitely better than the stock map), but I ended up stacking a booster plug on top of it to get the crisper 'sport mode' throttle response I was after. Now I feel I have an understanding to poke around and see what I paid for lol. A question comes to mind-- if I ever wanted to take my bike to a Dyno tuner, does this mean a (competent) tuner shouldn't need to install a power commander to make changes? Or is that device still necessary?

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Год назад

      The Booster Plug is snake oil. I don't know why anyone buys those things. All it does it trick the MAP sensor into thinking the bike is at lower elevation, so it adds more fuel everywhere. it does nothing for the throttle. I would remove the Booster Plug, and go into TuneECU and adjust your Sport mode throttle settings and then tune the bike...

    • @Automagine
      @Automagine Год назад

      @@SquireSCA I bought a booster plug in the early days of my T120 hoping it would alleviate its notoriously snatchy throttle off idle (it didn't). Back then I might have agreed with you. Fast forward a couple years, a TEC cam, and a DNK tune later-- I was debating going to a dyno tuner, but one day I decided to first try out that old booster plug I had laying around for shits and giggles. I rigged it up and spent an hour testing it out on the same stretch of road getting on and off throttle in all gears across the rev range, pulling over and bypassing it, doing the same run, replugging it, repeat. Respectfully, the throttle response now changes significantly when it is plugged in, and is much more FUN! Almost like a Sport mode, which doesn't come on the T120. No exhaust popping, no gasoline smell, and always between 45-55 mpg. My theory: the DNK tune was maybe not intended for the cam, and as such was too lean. Adding "more fuel everywhere" fixed that.
      I'll pop into TuneECU one of these days. I do love to tinker.

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Год назад

      @@Automagine Its just dumping more fuel in there, so if the bike is lean, the bike will feel better.
      The problem with the Booster Plug is that it has no way to just target lean areas. It dumps fuel everywhere, which will help lean spots, but areas that are fueled fine or even rich, will get richer.

    • @Automagine
      @Automagine Год назад

      @@SquireSCA Yes, exactly lol, and this is why you may recall I came here with a question about taking the bike to a dyno tuner. Power commander still necessary yea/nah?

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Год назад +1

      @@Automagine It really depends on what the tuner is comfortable using. TuneECU is the cheaper way for sure, but some tuners want to use The Dynojet Tuning-Link software in conjunction with a Power Commander... So I'm putting a slipon on a Daytona 765 Moto2. I took a look at a 2013 Daytona 675r Race AFR map and turned everything that was 14.50, 13.75 to 13.50 to match. Am I understanding correctly that the ECU is taking my true throttle input, adjusting it per the ETV(#) table, then using the F# table to determine fueling? And overtime the O2 sensor is comparing it's readings to the AFR table and "self tuning" by building an F # Trim table? And supposedly that F # + F # Trim table is the new "custom" fuel table for my bike?

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  День назад +1

      First, never played with the F/L switches, so I would leave them alone...
      There is no self tuning on these bikes. There are very small areas where it can do a limited "short term fuel trim" but it is very limited. If the tuning is off, it stays off till you tune it properly... I just adjust the AFR tables to 13.25 for that "just in case it helps a little bit" scenario... But I haven't seen any real evidence that it does much, if anything... These are narrowband, not wideband lambda sensors...
      How the rest works, is if you have ride by wire, you have your throttle input from the throttle tube itself... The ECU reads that, and depending on what mode you are in, it takes how much you twist, and says "this is how much throttle plate opening I will give you"... Twist the throttle 75% in Sport, and you get more plate opening than it gives you in Rain mode, etc...
      From there, the F tables are based on throttle plate opening and RPM... NOT how much you twist the throttle. Otherwise you would need different F tables for each ride mode. Make sense?
      Finally, F tells the bike how much fuel to give at a given RPM and throttle opening... WHen you tune you can use the trim tables... once it is dialed in, you can leave it on the trim tables or "commit" them to the F tables, which is what I usually do.

    • @Omar411269
      @Omar411269 23 часа назад

      @@SquireSCA Yeah Ive been watching your videos all day and I think it's making more sense. The F trims are there as a temporary mod before committing them to the F tables. BTW you had asked in one of your videos if changing the ETV tables only changes it for certain gears. That's true. To change the ETV values for all gears you have to swipe up or down to the specific "mode" you want to edit (example: ETV 3) then tap on the ETV 3 itself. Another radio menu will pop up with the ETV tables per gear for that specific mode (example: ETV 3(1), ETV 3(N), ETV 3(2), etc...). My bike has 3 ETV modes but 7 tables in each mode corresponding to 6 gears and neutral. I think I've also figured out F-L Switch; its the throttle plate motor position at which the ECU switches from using the F tables for fueling vs the L tables. The F tables are based purely off throttle plate position. The L tables are based on Mass Air Flow. For the most part the L tables are only used below 20% throttle input. Basically the F tables are used for acceleration and the L tables are used for maintenance speed.
      Or I could be completely wrong lol

      The new Speed Triple RS isn't restricted the way this bike is. I already looked at your base map and the throttle restrictions are not there, so you are good to go. Now, depending on your mods, you might still benefit from a tune, but you will want to toss it on the dyno to see what it is doing, to determine what, if anything it might need from a tune.

There is a top speed limiter, but you need TuneECU and have to pay extra to get rid of that... Honestly, naked bikes aren't much fun over 140mph anyway...

My problem Is not only do I want to adjust throttle position but because I’ve got a slip on and an aftermarket air cleaner (sprint P08) I need to mess with the fuel tables to fatten it up some because I’m sure it’s very lean now.

Do you think I can get away with a simple 15 minute idle to re-map the bike? Thanks.

      There is no remap itself. Never has been, never will be. People who don't know how the bike works, keep repeating that myth and telling other people about it and it spreads like wildfire and it has NEVER been true. lol

      It is crazy to me that people still quote that nonsense, no offense. Anyone that tells you that the bike will just remap itself for a full exhaust, doesn't know anything about these bikes. Don't listen to them, don't let them work on your bike, etc... If its a dealer telling you that, find another dealer. Seriously.

      Will not hurt it at all. Its the same motor as the RS, same internals, same tune. The only difference is the ride by wire table. Your "sport" mode is more like the "Road" mode on the RS. All you would be doing is making your sport mode match the RS. If you want, you can open up the ETV table for the RS, copy it, and then open up the R map and paste it in.
      If you tell me what your base map is, I can do it for you and send you the link.

      Here, try this. Made Sport mode unrestricted but also more aggressive and linear than the RS model. Should feel nice and spicy in Sport mode now. Also added a little fuel to the lean areas, lowered AFR targets to 13.2 and then told it to turn the cooling fan on a little sooner...
      drive.google.com/file/d/1YeoHdJU63pkqVMonKbg22jWhpMTjPuK3/view?usp=drive_link
      When you ride it in Sport mode, it might feel too aggressive at first, but that's because your muscle memory has learned that "this much twist gives me this much power"... It's going to give you more power per bit twisted... It's not changing the tune or what the motor us capable of making, it is taking what was already there, and changing how it is delivered... Before, you might twist to 45% and it would only give you 29%... Now, if will give you whatever you twist it to.
      Start with that and if we need to tweak it from there we can. Install that, reset adaptives, let it warm up for a few min and then go rip on it and see how it feels and report back?

      No, for the 2019-19 models the motors have a different cam, which means they also have a different fuel and ignition tune. No way to turn the R into the RS without swapping out engine internals and doing a full tune, which at that point its cheaper to just sell the R and get the RS.
      In 2020, they started using the exact same motor, same internals, same fuel and ignition tunes, and then they just manipulate the power output with the ride by wire tables... Just like they give a different power profile for Rain, Road and Sport... those 3 modes can be one output on the RS, and then they just dial them back for the R model...

      I would leave them on, unless you decide to tune it, and then get rid of them. What I found on mine, is that it idled kinda funny when I disabled them... So I plugged TuneECU in while the bike was running, and watched the short term fuel trims that the O2 sensors were providing... It would bounce around from +7 to +13 on each cylinder, meaning that the bike was ADDING fuel to the idle area, not taking away...
      While the bike's ability to "adjust" is narrow and limited in scope, it does work both ways... So if the bike is a little lean there, it can richen it slightly, and that will help you.

      @@SquireSCA Definitely ride by wire. And yes no ride mode's but I'd have thought there would still be an ETV table unless you do get 100% throttle opening at full throttle by default. Further searching bought up a Street twin tune without ETV tables as well.

    Hi there, i’m very new in this topic, i’ve just buyed a triumph trident 660 and i really want to take the most advantage of the bike, but i dont want to mess up my bike, do you recomend any map already made for mi bike or any way to flash my ecu without blowing it up? Something like plug & play? Thanks a lot!

      There is nothing plug and play that will do anything meaningful. Anything you will likely want to do is flash the ECU. it's not hard, but you need to know a bit about what you are doing so that you don't mess anything up.

      I don't know. I don't know that the dash would use it, as the dash shows what mode you are in, and on an LCD screen there would need to have those symbols already there to toggle on and off. My guess is no, but you can always try?

    Hey is there a way to tune the bike with a wide band?

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Год назад +1

      I mean, you can out Wideband sensors in the bungs and put it on the dyno and get readings if the sensors are plugged into the dyno, and then make your fuel edits in TuneECU... but there is no way for the ECU to use a Wideband sensor and auto tune the bike. There is an aftermarket system that does that, called RapidBike Evo. It tunes to an AFR though, not necessarily for best power. There is no magical AFR for any motor. Tuning to an AFR, will get you "good enough"...

      @@generaljakefilms What bike? The on/off throttle is because of the fuel cut feature that the EU requires... No way to disable that, so just learn to ride around it.

    Hi... so I've purchased TuneECU £25 in the uk, now I'm unsure which map to use for a Thruxton 1200 R with VIN 917360. Do i use the lower VIN for all countries 30041 or the higher that states Japanese Market 30263 ? Also I'm struggling to find an App that reads a Hex file? Brand new Samsung 23 Ultra and nothing is supported??
    Many thanks in advance Matt

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Год назад

      You need to find the map in the database that matches your model of bike, country and VIN range. 30041 is your map.
      Now, why do you need a hex editor? You download and open the map IN the TuneECU app, and you can modify any of the tables to suit your needs, and then save it, and push it to the ECU.

      Hi Dave.... thanks again for the reply. Another question!.....where as your ETV3 is similar from 0 upto 60% the Thruxtons is wildly different pretty from much from 0%, any idea why? and would it make for a smoother delivery power if I changed the whole range to match its highest output in each column?? I've currently changed them all down to the 23.1% column. In 23.1% is now 25 but the next drop to 15.4% is at 8.5...seems like a big jump from 8.5 to 25?? I've saved it as a fresh map so nothing changed it.
