At the time? They had *NO* idea how influential Spongebob would have on the world, and how long it would last. To this very day Spongebob is meme king to a lot of people.
back when it first started on the first of May in 1999 when the first episode premiered after the Kids Choice Awards and then it continued in July later on. Stephen Hillenburg was a great guy. he also played Potty the Parrot in the early Patchy the Pirate segments.
that’s right. Stephen Hillenburg will always be remembered in our hearts and minds of us all even though we always experience the old SpongeBob episodes that he worked on.
He has created a show that not only shaped all of our childhoods, but inspired a whole new generation of animators based on his life as a former marine biology teacher and artist with a creative passion for the arts and the sea. Thank you Steve for making this the best day ever. R.I.P. Stephen Hillenburg (August 21, 1961 - November 26, 2018) ♥️♥️🕊️🕊️😇😇🙏🙏🧽
C. H. Greenblatt was one of the golden age SpongeBob storyboard artists/writers. He and Aaron Springer (cartoon genius) gave us the weirder (and in my opinion best) episodes like Krusty Krab Training Video, Survival of the Idiots, Band Geeks, etc. A lot of that early SpongeBob humor shines beautifully in Chowder and helped seal my love for it. As a 23 year old now watching the show that came out when I was 10, I appreciate so much that out of the entire show, there was only 5 episodes C. H. didn’t write on. THAT’S dedication right there. And yes, I did cry like a baby in the finale when Chowder is grown up and voiced by C. H. Greenblatt himself.
@@HeavenIsEmpty1031 and it was conceived back when he was working on the citizens of the deep. SpongeBob walked so chowder could run. Without the former you most definitely wouldn’t have the latter.
Steve is a major contributing factor to the success of spongebob s1-s3, but I think the whole cast has so much sincerity and passion for creating art and animation that you don’t see with Nickelodeon nowadays. It’s so refreshing to see people who worked on the show act like normal people. I like to think Steve is the overall embodiment of that passion, being he is the mastermind behind spongebob, but this video definitely made me have the same sentiment for these people. I believe if the new Nickelodeon animators and writers had these kind of real people nowadays than just business executives trying to relate to the “younger folk” and using their past nostalgia to make up for their shitty present, it would be a lot better. You can’t succeed in a field like animation if you’re just in it for the money and not the passion imo
Thank you, Derek, Nick, Paul, Martin, Jay, Aaron, and all of the wonderful people who helped build one of the greatest cartoons ever created But mostly importantly, thank you Stephen.
It's cool how this show is made like any other cartoon would be made, and it's always neat to see the humble beginnings of something legendary like Spongebob.
Without realizing it, I was smiling half of the time watching this. To get to see the team as real people who had faith that their hard work was going to pay off. I can relate as an adult, and It was honestly touching. I appreciate what they did. :)

Well as much as SpongeBob has been on probably for too long now I don't think it should have ended raft on the movie because seasons 4 and 5 still had a plenty of good episodes too
Ive been consuming as much spongebob content lately as I came back to my 8 yr old sponge craze at 23, its amazing to see now what i didnt know these people were doing behind the scenes to make the show feel so alive and so amazing. Im glad to know now what really went into it and forever appreciate all the effort love and passion that went into it all 😊💛🩷🩵❤️💚🤎

We all thought this show was going to end in 2004 with the first movie. Now it's 2022 and Spongebob is still going strong.
sadly they did end the show in December of 2021
