A DVD special feature featuring various behind-the-scene looks at SpongeBob production back in 2002, featuring creator Stephen Hillenburg, various voice actors recording lines (with some very entertaining expressions to boot), artists drawing or painting backgrounds and characters, and more. Certainly an interesting thing to watch for anyone into SpongeBob or animation in general.
FUN FACT: The text that appears during the videos telling us the names and positions of the people appearing were actually subtitles rendered by the DVD player, so I needed to set up HandBrake to automatically "burn in" the subtitles so I didn't need to either remake them in Final Cut Pro or not include them at all.

Anyone else notice how much different Tom Kenny’s voice is in comparison to the modern Spongebob?. Here his voice is more monotone, soft, and deeper. I like that much more than his current spongebob voice.
I noticed that too!! I think because he got more older he voice became more deeper and more nosed clogged which had a pretty big impact on the way he does the voice

Absolutely! The first three seasons were nostalgic! The first seasons' classic cels were good, but the animation started to get modernized more and more during the second and third seasons!

Its really cool to see Stephen Hillenburg in a video and talking, he rarely did interviews and was pretty recluse for a person who made one of the most biggest characters of the 21st century. Thanks for making up my childhood which formed the person I am today
I literally just saw the guy who came up with “the graveyard shift”. I always wanted to know who came up with little things such as spongebob screaming over and over and seeing his mouth screaming in his eyes, I loved that found it hilarious. That man is a legend

I just fucking envy those voiceactors. Tom Kenny, Mr Lawrence, Roger Bumpass etc. I just wish I could be in their position. They are so good what they do 8D I wish I could even get to dub Spongebob Squarepants characters to my language even once in my life. But it's just pure joy to watch these masters do their thing.

I like toms facial expressions like "why would I do that" or "you want me to explode?" Or my personal favorite "iv already filled this book with new ideas"
Roger Bumpass looks so different in this than he does now.
Hes got more grey hair but looks the same look at the special to celebrate spongebobs 20th birthday were they reenacted scenes like imagination he still has the same haircut which i think is a buzzcut and a beard if you want to see where he really looks different look at the behind the scenes for "a sponge out of water i can't believe that's the same guy

The cast is just so good.
I absolutely love watching all these talented people work. Rewatching the first couple of seasons a while back, it's so evident that this show (at least in its early seasons) was made with a ton of love.

Actually If I'm correct I believe some season 4 episodes were also created in 2004 and some season 3 episodes (you're right about 2000) were created also in 2001 and 2002.
how did they create episodes for season 4 in 2002 when the og movie was originally meant to be the ending of the show lol?
They weren’t even working on season 5 in 2003, or s4 in 2002, they were busy working on the movie, I’d say s4 is 04-06, with s5 being 05-06
