    Always moved to tears... the last scene... a hymn to love. I think if I was to see but one opera in my life, in person, I would chose Turandot. Even more than Aida or Don Giovanni ... Tears run down my face every time I watch it. Such joy!

      I did too in Verona when I was 12. I went on a camping trip with my mom and her friends and we went to see Turandot . I was bored at first but soon enthralled with their singing … the best performance I have ever seen from anyone ever !

      I had the opportunity to watch this with my mother. I thank my mother who was raised in Estonia and taught me the love of classical music. I did the same with my children and from a second marriage we had a daughter. When she turned three I did the same. I put together a CD with my favorite classical music. After four years of it she wanted me to stop. But what a thrill when I played this in my car she shouted out, “Puccini Dot!” I was almost in tears. She is now a freshman in college.

    • @samf.s8786
      @samf.s8786 2 года назад

      That's always up for debate. But I don't think anyone will question your personal taste of picking Puccini over Verdi, Rossini, or even Mozart.
      I watched it live for the first time yesterday's and its fair to say that it's unlike anything I've ever experienced, despite being familiar with the music.

    • @annakimborahpa
      @annakimborahpa 3 года назад +2

      Possibly, but his ongoing attempts over several years to complete Turandot were futile. The happy ending he envisioned for the Princess and Calef came too quickly after the death of Liu. My speculation is that the ending was at odds with his personal life, the full details of which did not become available until the 21st century.

    magnifique ! Puccini est la plus belle musique au monde et Turandot , l'un des opéras les plus magiques dans le répertoire du bel canto. C'est le seul opéra de Puccini qui se termine par l'amour comparé aux 4 autres chef d'oeuvres qui se terminent par la mort (tosca , mme butterfly, manon , bohême). Ironie du sort , si Puccini écrivit cette scène finale, il ne la jamais mis en scène car il mourut juste avant .

    @rumpwrestler First of all: I wasn't talking about the cast, but about the production, which in my understanding includes the staging and everything, which I like very much!
    Besides that, I think that it is very easy for you to say some people don't have any imagination if they prefer traditional productions, but that is not true! Some people simply like to dream when seeing an opera, sometimes I also prefer to be intellectually challenged (not only by the music) -> by the production.
