The very first Gallien Krueger amp that I bought was the MB-115 combo amp. I needed something to use around the house, in the studio and at church. That amp made a believer out of me with Gallien Krueger. I was blessed to sign an endorsement deal with them in February of 2017 and with that deal I got the Gallien Krueger MB 800 Fusion Head and NEO 410 Cab. By far it is the most versatile, best sound amp and cab that I have ever owned. What seems like endless power and the amp and cab produce a very clean and clear sound. I can even down tune my 5 string basses and playing the low B string and not have a bit of distortion, unless I switch over the channel B, that is set up to hit the tubes a little harder for an intentional, slightly distorted sound. I will soon be adding the Gallien Krueger PLEX pre-amp to everything for even more added versatility.

@@chrisb48907, I do more studio work over anything else. The only live playing that I now do is either at church or if friends that are in bands are on tour and come through my area, I’ll occasionally sit in with them on a few songs.

@Wayne Green, some artists have free deals but they are generating sales to those companies that have given them said deals. With me, even though I am an endorsed artist, I still pay for all of my gear but I do get everything at a discounted cost.

I have a question that I haven't had time to ask so here I go. I've just traded gear for a GK MB210 and I will need more than 350 watts for the style/volume I play. So i have a Peavey Tour 450 head powering a 4ohm 400wart Warwick 4:10 cab. I was told I could buy some kind of "power splitter box" pedal and hook the GK210 to power the 400 watt, 4ohm Warrwiick can and then I'd have more wattage (yes I know if I got 500watts I'd blow the Warwick. Anyways I play Doom/Sludge metal and I don't know much about pedals, preamps, etc. because all I use on pedalboard is fuzz, overdrive, optional multi effects and a tuner. So honestly I want to keep this GKmb210 and sell other stuff off and pair this 2x10 up with high wattage 1x15 and then i should get the best non tube amp bass sound to show up in the mix with my guitar player:s rig which is so loud it's like an industrial machine. He has the Matt Pike(guitarist for SLEEP) sound. So thanks for reading and j appreciate any replies.

I already have the mb212 and im thinking of adding the 115 mbp
    Is that doable? Any issues?

    • @sweetwater

Hello, Fandango! Yes, that is perfectly doable. The only issue is the 115MBP has been discontinued by GK.
      Thanks for the interest!

Does it ever make sense to combine a 112 with a powered 115 extension cabinet? Or is there a rough rule of thumb to match speaker size? Thx.

    • @sweetwater

Hello! You could stack a 1x12 and a 1x15, but those aren't usually the same width, so it'd look odd stacking them. Plus it's more common to stack either a 2x10 or 4x10 cab with a 1x15. If you're planning on doing an expandable bass rig like that, I'd recommend getting a powerful enough head, and then different cabinets that you can use. I've got the GK 2x10 and 1x15 CX cabs that I can use together or separately depending on the situation, and I also have 2 of the Orange 1x12 bass cabs that I can stack or use separately.

I was wondering the same thing...
I have a 112 with a 112 extension cab already and I want to make sure a 115 would work and would it sound weird. I definitely like the punch from a 12 and I am wondering if a 15 would put more “feel” and less “hear” in the tone and I’d get the best of both worlds.

Can I use a 200 MBP watt extension cab with a 500 watt combo. ?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  2 года назад

Hello, Minnesota Jack! Yes, you can use the 112MBP with either the MB212, MB410, or MB210 via an XLR cable running from the "chain output" of the main amp into the "chain input" of the powered GK extension cab.

Thank you! Now all you have to do is start selling 200 watt extension cabs again. Finding a MBP115 is not easy. As far as I know, GK only makes one MBP cab now…a 2x12

I don't see how you can say that adding a separate powered cab will double your wattage. Poor GK, trying to monopolize the extension speaker world, when in actuality their approach is questionable at best. How could it give you double the wattage, headroom, or double anything? They will not add to each other in separate power amps. It will still be the same wattage and headroom just 2 different sources. You will be pushing more air with more speakers and fill a room better, maybe put them several feel from each other and notice a difference that way. But you can do this with literally any 2 amps of similar wattage when you need your sound to fill a room better. Run the effects loop send from amp 1 into the effects loop return of amp 2. Now you have the tone from amp 1 using just the power on amp 2. It's the same sound, from two different sources, if the wattage is the same then the headroom is the same. The only way you can make this claim is if you obviously get a powered cab that puts out more watts than your amp. Or in my example amp 2 could be more powerful than amp 1 and give you additional wattage and headroom that way when needed

While this is true for regular PASSIVE speakers, this is not the case for GK's ACTIVE speakers. An active speaker has the ability to double your output.

He literally shows you the back of the powered slaves.
He literally calls them “MBP, P for POWERED”
How did you miss all of that? He even went on a rant about how some combos don’t use the full wattage for the internal speakers!
