@@ukgemhunters how do you spell the mineral you said you said was Calcite by accident at 0:45? i don't think ive even heard of it! and i've just got the same rock hammer i see you using in all your videos (Estwing 13oz) very pleased to see its still going strong after being very well used from the looks! 👍🏻😬
Hi! im off to cornwall for a couple weeks and id love if you could help with any tips about what sort of crystals I could find there and if the best places are beaches or rivers? :)
Cornwall is an amazing place to collect, I would recommend rivers over beaches mainly because there a little safer I suppose... although water is dangerous regardless so take care. Look for areas of mining activity and if you can access the land with permission, or if there is a handy footpath then have a look around the old spoil heaps.
Is this around the Merthyr area? I have been trying to find places in wales to collect minerals and mindat pointed towards Treharris, but I'm struggling to locate public land to search on. I appreciate you want to keep it secret, but any chance you can nudge me in the right direction?
Ahhh amazing, super proud that you put effort into finding this place, and it paid off. I will be back up here in about a week, taking Andy as he is yet to try this place out😁 Make sure you have a good lump hammer and safety goggles, the iron stone really hurts when it splinters off.
that's what i'm trying to do now using that shot at 10:24 for reference LOL!🤣 i live in Cardiff and ride the Taff trail regularly so i'm going to have a good look around the Tongwynlais/Castell coch area this weekend! 😬 i've collected minerals and raw gems since i was a child but i'm only learning now that we actually have some great things to find here in Wales! i remember my father mentioning he and my grandfather would find garnets and i think zircons down at porthcawl beach using a sieve and small shovel too!
@@ukgemhunters I love a bit of geoguessing! Thanks for the tips, I'm fairly new. I'm studying geology so this hobby is perfect, I've only found fossils before 👍
@@key_tan cheers will do! :) and there's some great places in Wales! where about's are you? i'm down South in Cardiff unfortunately but even a short bike ride up to Tongwynlais area has some nice places, if you have the means to get up to the Brecon beacons and Snowdonia then that's a right treat!
Hi! I live in Blaenau gwent, is there anywhere within this region you recommend me hunting? I’ve tried using mindat but I’m struggling to find any good spots!

Keep searching those old coal tips, and check for the red iron stone.
There plenty of minerals near merthyr 😁
It took me a good 45 minutes on Google maps to figure out this spot! Thank you. I thought I recognised it, I'm fairly local.

So much going on in life its crazy😆
How do you clean quartz I may of found up snowdonia 😂
I would suggest dish soap, or a little bit of Citric acid, you can use harsh acids but you need to have a lot of ppe
tooth brush, diamond file, carbide sand paper, 1000 grit, lapping wheel etc
