- Andy and I really pushed ourselves to get round some old favourites and some new locations. We did go underground at the last location, but that will be in the next video.
So beautifull out there. Amazing finds.
nice its so cool i liked the gemstones you found
I absolutely love this!Big collector of crystals and this is so lovely to see! Thanks for sharing xx
Thank you😁
Where are the best locations as keen to do this too!
@@ukgemhunterswhat was the cause of the blue/green in that rock? i have a garden of slate/shale with lots of quartz on and some pieces look just like that, ive always wondered?
@jimmymcgill2557 which one??
It's been a while since I have watched this video??
@@ukgemhunters sorry dude should have said the time stamp, was the one at 24min mark also that quarry you menrioned on your Fluorite video next to the black cock inn in South Wales is a place i've been meaning to go if it's the one very close to Caerphilly/Forest fawr i just can't seem to find a way in from looking on google maps/earth! lol
Beautiful finds
Thank you
Im quite jealous now after seeing the video, but great!!!!
I'm new to geology and am simply fascinated by gems, ores, rocks and minerals. Also love old mines as well! this channel I discovered today and have loved it ever since! :)
Thank you, I hope you enjoy your journey
@@ukgemhunters I am very much so far! thank you :D
New follower! I would absolutely love to do this! I live in South Wales, wondering whether there’s any spots you’re aware of that I could explore down here? Wouldn’t know where to start haha!
Thank-you, yes lots of places in South Wales, a lot of the spoil heaps from the old coal mines have some nice quartz, just be very careful as they can be a little dangerous
Have you ever done Dartmoor near to Plymouth,,i go to a place and have gotten some huge quartz and milky quartz some with rose quartz,,etc,, epic finds
No not yet, I generally drive straight past there and search further south. I'm yet to research Dartmoor, but have one location in mind but not for quartz.😁
Hello! I know this comment was a while ago, but I also live in this area, so you have any locations on Dartmoor that are worth looking at?
Next year maybe a wkend hunt! Would be good! I would pay to go! Im only in devon! To learn what your looking for etc and camp somewhere!! Xx
If you could tag me on your fb page that be fab so i know i have the right one lol.
Would love to come on a hunt with you guys. I'm currently living in Cornwall and i find some nice pieces of quartz from smokey to amethyst. I've got one bit of flourite but would love to find more. Can share some locations
The fluorite down south is second to none, and quite hard to find these days, just a few spots that still hold a few treasures.
We try and come down every few months, so will keep you in mind next time we're down
hi
Look for some Uranium ore at south terras mine especially metatorbernite
@@eddahbrahim5414 hi
What locations have you found!? I’m a local (cornwall) and would love to find some pieces myself!
What sort of crystals would you find around an old sandstone mines in Kent xx
Fossils, and possibly calcite😁
I wish I could drive or knew others that loved rocks and minerals that drove so we could go on hunts like this. I live in Worcestershire and have bog standard milky quartz, jasper, granite.
Hey that's better than nothing, just keep researching and you may find some good bits there, you could try for gold??
If you live near Bristol then you can come with me. I pan for gold but I wouldn't mind going to Wookey Hole for a mineral hunt?
@@weekendwarriorprospecting817 Let’s go!
@@chlobo8757 where do you live?
I'm north Bristol and I do not travel far for my minerals, I'm guessing your on the cornish gold??
I live in Sheffield and really love to go for gemstone hunting like this, how to register, Pls let me know, Thank you very much!!
i hope you dont mind me asking, but what place is this? it looks really beautiful and i would like to go there :D
Devon / Cornwall 😁
LOL these types never say where to go in case someone else goes there and finds some thing for themselves, Greedy i think
@@shapumawildcat 100% plus a lot of the time it's on private land and takes a lot of effort finding new locations, even years of research just to find somewhere new.
Just subscribed 300. I live near Bigbury, Devon. Any good pointers ?
Go west....
There are lots of places on the boarder to Cornwall, researching old mines etc is a good place to start
I found an amazing crystal but when I was at school it was beautiful I was able to keep it.
if you don't mind me asking, what do you do with the stuff you find?
The majority go in the cabinet or shared with other collectors, I sell the odd piece to pay for fuel for the next trip but that's it.
@@ukgemhunters oh I see! cheers!
Do you need any type of licence to do this xx
I have picked up some amazing bits just off the beaches of devon and cornwall x
Are there any books of stones, minerals from devon/cornwall that i can identify what i have or looking for xxx
Hi
No just need to check for if it has any protected status, or get land owners permission.
If your on Facebook come and join South West minerals UK.
Old mining books are a good place to start for finding out what's in the local area
Hi yes i have now joined on fb, i think its the right one! Lol
@@thaliatonkin2341 I can't see that anyone new has joind but hopefully the right one, just type in the search bar and see what other people have found local to you.
What beach in cornwall have them???
There is an app called “rock identifier” which is quite affective all you have to do it take a clear photo of said rovk/crystals and it tells you the name, properties, formation everything it’s very useful xxxx
I have a crystal gems... From philippines.
You gotta do paid field trips like the foragers do, I can do foraging stuff bar mushrooms, the course leader took 20 at £30 per head.
That's not too bad is it...😁 I would need to find a land owner who would grant permission for large groups, and a location that could provide enough for a few years too, which is hard to do.
@@ukgemhunters Mate offering landowners ant cash incentive on a decent organised trip is like offering a strawberry to a donkey. Hardest part of doing something is starting it.
Where is this, im going there next week
what type of places in the UK can you search for crystals ?
Hi, im thinking of hunting for crystals for the first time any idea where to start, i live in west sussex so somewhere near preferably!
also im the 200th sub!!
also what gear do i need
@@sonofraceface I would recommend a decent geologist hammer, a matlock mini pick axe and a decent ex army bergen rucksack to carry your finds as it needs to be tough
@@ukgemhunters where should i go tho?
There are a few iron mines, but climping beach for quartz and pyrite seem to look OK.
But remember to check tide times and alway ho with a buddy
What to do if u find lots of milky quartz in river ? I seen many last time when I was walking in Scotland
Milky quartz I leave, if there is ironstone around there maybe a good chance of gold, but I much prefer good quality terminations on my quartz
@@ukgemhunters is it valuable?
@@abuhayat7721 no not really unless it's of amazing quality, or has gold in it
@@ukgemhunters thanks for answer back . Just curious:)
I live in Denmark, and there’s nothing to find :( pretty sad becuz i love crystals and gems and i Would love to go gem hunting one Day 😔🤞🏻

You guys ever come to Scotland?
We came up about 2 years ago, but didn't do a video.
We are hoping to come up and do some this year.
There are some amazing minerals to be found in Scotland
@@ukgemhunters nice 1, we love to collect agate, garnets & all kinds of semi precious gems. Look forward to yous coming back
@@scotlandstreasure2543 I have some fantastic agate from Scotland, I think the next trip will be for Sapphire and garnets, I would love to have a go at gold panning.
@@ukgemhunters The agate are beautiful ae! I’ve never found sapphire definitely on my list. The gold is great if you know where to look 😁
Hey i live in the west midlands near a lot of old quarry and mines would this be a good place too look?
They are great places to look, but can be super dangerous.
Make sure you get owners permission.
Do you know what they where mining as you can find out what associated minerals may have been present
@@ukgemhunters Normally coal i think, and limestone and quartz . We also go too Cornwall every year and I've found massive chunks of quartz there .
@@crazygirlontheblock311 there should be some nice calcium about then, maybe some dolomite with quartz
@@ukgemhunters Oooo im going too a local stream today that has lots of rocks and clay,me and my brother are going too look there!
@@crazygirlontheblock311 ah thats great, good luck with your hunt, I hope you find some great shinys
That was a uranium mine right?
No these are all silver/lead mines
Ok
Where about in the uk is this or can you look for Cristals
Everywhere, this is Devon and Cornwall, but minerals are Everywhere just mainly tiny
I FOUND A AMYYHYST ONCE :D
Ah wow, well done
Guys you come to Cornwall gem hunting and you don't go poldark or Porthleven?
We haven't got that far yet, there are soooo many places to go in Cornwall, it will keep us busy for a life time
Is water a good place for gem hunting
If you mean streams etc, they can help reveal what could be there, but it could cause minerals to become worn
Like a small tiny wide line of water that doesn't move
Go on my channel you will.see my stone collection
Can I tell a true story i had a freind named jake we loved gem hunting until he moved house like if you feel sad
Oh guys.....come to the USA. You'll find what you're looking for
We would love to come to the USA and go mineral hunting. That would be amazing
