I think he was at his most confident at this match, his seems to be toying with chang. and giving a show for the fans . this was why Agassi was such a big draw. showmanship!
All of Agassi’s slam finals were with the Donnay Pro One. The fo in 90 and 91. The uso in 90. Even though he switched for the money he actually never played a slam final with the graphite.
Um....that's NOT an Ultimate Pro, it's not hard to tell at all...at 5:47 Agassi is holding the racquet up before serving, and one can clearly see the thin beam. The Ultimate Pro was a 30mm widebody....HUGE cross-section. Agassi actually did use an Ultimate Pro at the 1990 AT&T challenge however. He discontinued in the first round of the French Open immediately after the AT&T...
Tactical Tennis Tips yes. Just saw your quesion now lol. Yes on vhs tape I have FO 1990 matches against courier and Gomez. Maybe some of Swenson. Agassi wasn’t using the Widebody then. He only used it until the first round for half the match against wostenholme before smashing a couple of them and switching mid match to the pro one. Yes I do have him playing with the massive widebody at at and t challenge - against Mayotte, Scott Davis... and Jaime yzaga! One day I’ll have to digitize the video of the tapes haven’t turned to dust. It was interesting bc Agassi was loving the extra power in those matches. Even though he ultimately could not seem to control it at the French, he blasted through those matches and at times seemed to swing as hard as he could enjoying the new power. The commentators compared it to a kid with a new toy and even Agassi and his opponents were laughing at times as Agassi tried to DESTROY the ball at times when he got way ahead in the match.
I was at this tournaments final when Agassi beat Pete Sampras in straight sets. I was amazed how Agassi hit the ball so early, Pete didn’t have a chance.
Lucky you. It's a shame that he did not put his whole heart into tennis as other great players have. Not many players can say their backhand is just as good as their forehand. I felt like after he shaved his hair and went bald is when he recreated his career.
ZERO wasted motion when Agassi hit his prime in the mid 90s. I still think its the best two hander in tennis history. Lets see Joker or anybody else in todays game, consistently hit backhands as well, using gut strings.
@@gibbleway Watch Agassi vs Sampras in the 95 Australian Open final, or their semifinal match at the same tournament in 2000. Another gem is the 2005 US Open quarterfinal with Andre playing James Blake. An absolutely INCREDIBLE ball striking match for both players at their best.

true, Chang was not a big server here - but over time Chang did muscle up and improve his serve and develop the ability to hit more heavy groundstrokes. I think of a US Open match towards the end of McEnroe's career where Chang knocked him out and Chang's serving was stellar, including a few clutch aces ... Look at Chang v. Rios US Open 1997 (on RUclips) - probably the heyday of Chang's career top see him in more dominant form.
Arab? No. Iran is not an Arab country. Agassi has Persian/Assyrian roots from Iran. You do well to remember the Persians have a great civilization unlike Asians and Arabs.

Derek Daniels: i admire your enthusiasm and agree Agassi was something special. however, you must be young to think he was the GOAT of tennis in the 80s and 90s... brush up on your history. a good place to start would be to see who won the majors during the 80s and 90s, i think.
Never seen a more unflattering pic of Andre, as he looks in this screenshot lol. Not saying hes fat, but he looks more bloated than any photo ive seen of him.
Chang's ground strokes has no depth nor pace, even in the end looking back his career he's a very good player but still not a great player. nothing can take away his accomplishments but honestly if he play nowadays he won't make into top ten by his play. but nevertheless he's a fighter.
Chang - the legend . Always in Reebok, appreciate
two of my favorite tennis players, I love their shoe lines too Reebok vs Nike
Been looking for decent footage of this match for ages.... thanks for the upload!

Tactical Tennis Tips One of the best that ever did it. Of course, growing up in Las Vegas it always came easy for Andre.
true
He's why i started with Tennis when i was 9 years old!!! Love him to death ;) one of the Best at this sport!!!
Both great players but Agassi had the flare that set him apart from the rest of the field at this time . Great ground strikers were rare
I know, Chang was the best
Agassi had the best wigs ever, roll on Murray V Federer today. C'mon Andy.....
This was the golden era of tennis
Well, the beginning of
When tennis was still a fun sport to watch! Mainly thanks to Agassi.
The AT&T challenge was originally an indoor tournament from about 86 I think. Became an atp tour tournament in 92!
Real classic!! Thanks for upload

I saw Agassi get frustrated and melt down against Pete I think the year before in Philly. Andre didn't have a chance.
That backhand of his is impeccable. You thought Nadal's was good, or djoks. Agassi and Fognini for most crisp
I agree the sound is even a bit different and consistently so too. Both have tiny backswings too but generate insane power.

Agassi had more power and was a cleaner hitter than Chang. Both moved extremely well.

he is the master of time.
Yeah. Original boss of the baseline.

Chang improves his serve a lot during the mid 90s. During US 95 and 96 he had many serves over 120mph

Yet none of them has won the seven great titles in tennis like Agassi :)
