He is ranked 5th in the nation...I would say he is already great. If your definition of great is a 12 yr old beating a good adult player, then he already almost did that here. I enjoyed Adrian's spirit and confidence. He has all the shots and reasonable footwork. Two things I would do with his strengths: Run around his back hand for the higher top spin balls and hit cross court to Winston's back hand. Pin him down for two or three shots then be ready to hit down the line when he has an opening or hit wide and deep crosscourt when Winston tries to hit up the line with his backhand. Also Adrian needs to choose his drop shots a lot more judiciously. Adrian was giving away so many points early on to faulty drop shots. They are only a weapon if timed well.

If you can keep your opponent having to make tough judgement calls to spring like that with good speed and placement you'll keep winning those kind of exchanges and points. Winston, I have been watching your game for years. The improvements you have made recently with the help of Coach Karue have taken your game to a new level. Your serve is improved; your backhand is more consistent (still a bit flatter than I'd recommend for your game style); your sense of court awareness and timing gives you so many more tactical options during the point. If you pardon the armchair coaching, I really believe that a more deliberate split step on the return of serve as your opponent makes contact with the ball will put you in a much more offensive posture that puts your opponents on their heels immediately, especially with as much spin as you impart on the forehand wing. That and maximizing your depth of groundstrokes can easily raise you to 5.0. Keep it up, good sir!

excellent video. Adrian showcases how important it is to play the %'s and to not over hit while also being a tenacious defender/ backboard; Winston you played well, congrats; But really you had to come up with excellent combos or a great finishing shot to get it by him.

Adrian has an impressive two-handed backhand! Best advice is to keep working hard, stay confident, respect your opponents, and have some humility.

Well, the “Man Factor” def. Took over in the tiebreaker, but overall, Du….your game had improved so much! You are just a few unforced errors away from leveling up even more! Inspiring to see how the practice and determination is paying off!

People are in here talking shit about a 12 year old boy. 99% of 12 year old boys are obnoxious by nature. This kid actually has a talent to back up his arrogance. Wish I could say the same for a lot of you.

That was a lot of fun to watch. I loved the trash talking before the game. The mailman reference was hilarious. Baby Sharma should include a Karl Malone impression next time. When it was 6-3, I thought Baby Sharma was done, but he made a great comeback to take it to a tie-break. Well done!

The kid did pretty well considering the huge height disadvantage when serving. Winston was able to return from the baseline or even a short step inside the court.

this little bro's forehand, Adrian held tough and had endless wheels because he seemed to have to work double or triple the steps. I thought high to the bh out the gate and it worked for the most part but staying away from Adrian's FH was key, he knew when to go for winners and opened angles up.. great match all around, Winston definitely was being patient a lot of looks also impressive.. it would be hard to try to hit this kid off the court and still have enough gas to finish.
