Holy crap, thats one of the best court level matches I've seen. Dylan's forehand is immense, but I hope he develops his backhand into a weapon so we can see him in the top 100. You could tell Neils wanted all the smoke, and that on a good day these two are neck and neck.
I was watching the club players video yesterday and was like "damn these guys are really good, surprised they don't play on the actual college team", and now I'm watching these d1 recruits like "oh that's why"
I got double bageled by another Vandy recruit about a month ago in a UTR tournament. He also had some of the fastest pace I had ever seen compared to previous D1 players I've played. Guessing the Vandy coach loves big hitters.
@@QK_Engineer considering he was almost double my UTR rating, i'd say it was expected. usually my serve can make me look like a higher rated player but he just stepped in and ripped it every time. literally had to lunge and block as my +1.
IMO it was a different era, not sure we'll get to see another 17yo do that. The "closest" we might get right now is João Fonseca, currently is 17 years old, has a 14.3 UTR and just defeated Sonego (51 ATP). Was a blue chip and was signed with UVA, but decided to go pro instead of playing college.
What's crazy is this feels more impressive to watch than a run-of-the-mill ATP Tour match on TV... Is it the camera angle? Lower expectations? Wild that one guy can just stick a camera behind the court and it have that effect.
What I have yet to see is anyone comment on Dylan's racket head speed, that's where all that power is coming from. On top of getting pretty sideways to get that hip torque, his racket head speed is insane. It's the first thing I noticed when he first served, its like a whip. He just generates so much speed, seemingly effortless.
Great stuff. Dylan has a big forehand and good serve. Niels just couldn't get it to Dylan's backhand and then stretch him wide on the forehand. It's tough because Dylan got confident and was ripping forehands without hesitation and Niels didn't have many chances to get offensive. Niels may have felt more pressure on his serve. Anyway I wish them both college success. Thanks for the content!!!
Dylan´s pace on forehand and serve was insane. Niels needed a few more first serves to make it an even more competitive match. Like Niels said, Dylan looked ATP level at the beginning of the match. Congratulations to both Dylan and Niels, Best of luck and hope to see you guys again in the channel. Winston, THANKS FOR THIS GREAT CONTENT
If Neils fills out he has just as much or more. Dylan looks like he'd be twice as strong lifting weights in the gym. With proper weight training and diet, Neils at that size will be really something.
Wow, a great match again on your channel Winston! You are killing it lately. Dylan and Niels are both great, great players. I agree with their assessment on them being an ultimate player if they could combine their best strokes.
They both played great. Love the trash talk. We need more of that in tennis. More matches like these and it should be a great Summer of yt content. First impressions of Dylan, I'm getting some Stevie Johnson vibes on the fearhand and serve. Anybody else see that? I'm sure they crossed paths at Carson.
Man, I haven't played tennis other than recreationally. I was a track guy in college, but huge respect to these guys and your channel. Im happy I stumbled across it, I may have to go get a starter racket. Love seeing the competition and joy sport brings
Would love to see these guys again, incredible pace and power from both, and also relatively consistent at that huge pace, which seeing it court level is just extremely impressive and mind boggling almost for lower level players
The things that stand out about Dylan are his technique/footwork: he's not off balance, weight forward...He can hit that FH atomically b/c his technique is so good. Physically, you can see some of his muscularity. Niels' tossing arm drops, he falls off his FH, footwork not as precise. Will be interested to see how Dylan does in college.
Dylan probably serves and hits his forehand as hard as the top ATP pros, if not harder. But he's at full throttle all the time and tends to overhit in some moments. Even when he's on the defensive, he tends to go for an offensive forehand. It works sometimes, but going for safer shots in those moments would probably win him even more points long term. Big power, great mover, intimidating returns. Also awesome seeing him approach the net when the opportunity is there for a put away volley.
really great hitting by both guys. Niels! Here's how we're gonna get more from your first and second deal. Presumably you sometimes feel like you're falling off the hit, particularly on the first serve - I think looking at your delivery that you could get far more extension up to/balance throughout the hit by letting your left palm (via the normal shoulder movement for ball toss) rotate towards the ball a little earlier after you release the toss (have a look at Dylan's left arm through his serve hit to see what I mean/think about the optimum hand position one should adopt to climb a ladder) - that adjustment should in turn help you stop your head falling to the left when you make your ball toss, because your arm shouldn't feel as restricted when you allow the aforementioned shoulder rotation. 1. you're welcome mate 2. best of luck in college tennis and beyond to both you guys!
That he's a grown man comment resonates with me. When I was 18 and still baby faced and not very muscled I faced a U16 top junior from abroad with a full beard and a man's body. I was pretty competent but his power on serve and forehand were so intimidating when I was used to overpowering a lot of opponents. I swear in his 40s the guy looks younger than he did at 16.
Need another video with Dylan if possible. His serve and forehand are both incredible. Neils is sick too. Just think he had an off day on his first. Would’ve been a lot of closer if he had more firsts in, bc we’ve seen he’s an incredible player as well.
Dylan is fire, Karue would get some serious competition from Dylan I think. When you got the serve and forehand, you can compete against anyone !!! I expect big things from Dylan, Neils as always ultra high level tennis, just got outplayed by power
Constructive feedback for Niels. Try experimenting with bringing your foot up with your toss. For example, take a look at Sinner's adjustments to his serve recently. You tend to toss first and then bring your foot up. This causes you to toss the ball higher and then let it drop. There are problems this can cause. It's harder to keep a consistent toss when it's a longer toss and the extra time that you have in between your toss and contact allows for your arm to more casually drop behind your head and decreases your acceleration. By having a shorter toss and a quick motion in general it will force your arm and hand to accelerate quicker to the ball.
Some very high level play from these guys. Either of these guys would be comfortable playing and winning matches at Futures level. We need to see Karue and Felix M play these two in a pro set when you can make it happen. Great match👍
Dylan has played in Calabasas 25k and lost in the first round of qualies (Karue made quarters there). He also has played a lot of PTT events, and is struggling against some older guys who never had any ATP points. He definitely will be a force, but not there yet.
Dylan's net game is probably one of the underrated part of his almost complete package. Doubt he'll be able to pull it off at the college level though.
Awesome stuff Winston!!....if you have them rematch or other college players ask how they feel and train for no-ad and having to play let serves....thanks
Love Dylan's game. He's got every shot in the book. Maybe add some variety in there with more slice backhands, but his game is top notch. Even his footwork is splendid. Neils' backhand is a solid stroke, but maybe could be more explosive.
I played highschool tennis in SoCal and my league was fairly low quality, so i was the best. But then i went to southern section championships and played dudes like these guys. Me being probably a 4.5 UTR. It was laughably bad.
As someone who is completely unqualified to give any advice, I’d give Niels the advice that Karue was saying in his match vs Govind. He almost needed to play worse (i.e. change the spin and speeds of his shots) to give Dylan a different look and try to throw him off a little. Dylan was just too comfortable with the pace Niels was giving him.
Good match! The SOUND of Dylan's FH is legit pro-level, rest of the game needs more polish in order to hang with the big boys. I see he had some success at ITF junior level, wondering why Niels instead never played on that circuit... (as far as I can tell)
dylan has some ridiculous intensity out there.
Those consecutive bullet forehands look exhausting to play against.
@@gelatinousjoe7979also fatiguing for him. To consistently inject that much pace is hard

you played Markowitz 😂 that's rough, but it's really eye-opening to experience what high level tennis is like.
@@QK_Engineer And what happens to you when you play someone with a 12+ UTR!?!!?!?
What's insane is that Nadal was winning Masters 1000 at these ages. Just shows how crazy Big 3 was
crazy glaze this video wasnt even about him
Rec courts play faster than the ones on tour

love the new "what would you like from your opponents game?" --> gets into their thought-process a bit.
Dylan's serve is so huge and that forehand is incredible! Great display of tennis from both players in the vid 👏

Yeah it’s also the mic is really close so the audio is more visceral.
Camera angle for sure.
Same thing happens when you watch a batter hitting off college or even good HS pitchers at field level. Looks wayyyy faster.
Court level is much more immersive. However, the camera angle here makes court look slightly elongated which makes the ball look faster.

That was awesome tennis. That forehand is a weapon! Holy smokes!
Dylan's got such an aggressive return game, main reason he broke Niels multiple times
