- A more cinematic, free interpretation of the legendary 'Ozar Midrashim' track from the original Soul Reaver game.
I remember being absolutely blown away by the Soul Reaver intro sequence back in the day (still am!), and a huge part of that was the amazing music, which became synonymous with the series even though it was originally released as part of the 'Don't be Afraid' album by Information Society, a couple years before the game came out.
Still hoping for a remake or some sort of continuation for the LOK series...

Good LORD this deserves to be in the trailer for whatever they decide to do with this series. It'll INSTANTLY get chills down most people's spines.
I nominate this version as the new Avernus Cathedral for when Raziel traverses it in Defiance
This kind of music I expect when they start to remaster the games. This is the kind of faithfullness it deserves

It’s not great to be honest,the electronic gothic undertones aren’t there. It literally sounds like a Micheal Bay/Netflix remake. It’s function over form
What i like about your versions is that even if you give your own take, the eerie vibe and impact of the song stays intact. Though Blood Omen's OST is my favorite, this one is my favorite Soul Reaver song, and i loved this.

Now this is a good reinterpretation of the theme. I hope we see a LOK Soul Reaver remake of the prime storyline or what we got with the 3 games.
If Legacy of Kain gets a screen adaptation, then I would recommend something like this. It would be awesome.
I was just working and when I found this track. It literally stopped me dead in my tracks. I always fantasized about an orchestral version of Ozar Midrashim. When it started I thought this is sounds awesome and continued on to be a delight and was already very excited about Raziel's fall. I was not even remotely ready for what started at 2:58. It made me tear up. The instrument used for conveying the anguish, the female choir... it was literally something I hoped to hear some day and I just did. It feels as if I found something I lost long ago. It is crazy. You can't fathom what treasure you have given me today.

The small build up at the end of you track reminded me a bit of it.
This game deserves a remake more than any other.

Ruined City is one of those tracks that I think was limited by 90s audio tech limitations. There's so much space to evolve that track and make it even more of a banger. That one has my vouch.
@@Slampbell There's a videio somewhere on youtube where Harland was talking about how he made music and the limitations of the technology when he was doing Sega Genesis music. I recall specifically his score for X-Men 2: Clone Wars and the Scooby Doo genesis games, great music even with the limits of the tech

Ozar midrashim was unbeatable for me, you managed to make it even more epic !
This is superb, from the eerie and insidious feeling at the start to the angelic, booming epic payoff at the end. You had me held in anticipation of that so very characteristic "horn" sound from the original at 1:32.
This could easily be used in a modern remaster of the game and held up to industry composer standards.

I often come back to listen to your LoK reinterpretations, I like them much more than the original soundtracks.
I would have added a sample of Kain's voice saying "Cast him in" around the 2 minute mark to add to that dramatic feeling.

This was an amazing journey, from start to finish.
I've been a fan of Legacy of Kain games for 25. years now. Although I'm not a big fan of the modern movie scores (too much of that "Doooooooooooooo" sound), the violin at 2:58 felt like I've been summoned back home. Back to where I belong. I felt that. Thank you. (Or was it Nyckelharpa?) :>
Thank you! Glad you liked it. It's actually a cello playing high notes and a tulum (sort of a bagpipe) in unison in that part. That nyckelharpa is an amazing instrument though!

I honestly couldn't find a better cover than this! totally feels like the original but with fitting addons that feel just as home in the Nosgoth universe.

This is really good. I imagine this theme playing in a scene from the perspective of a vampire who is being hunted by Raziel.
I'm so glad the fates, at least at this moment in time, smiled upon me and graced these big ears with this enriching sonic nectar.

I just wish I could have played the game the way it was supposed to be. There was a bunch of different reavers, extra bosses and areas, and big chunks of the story ripped out at the last minute because the developers ran out of time. Yet it was still one of those defining gaming moments from childhood.

if they would make a TV series of this game.. about the time of the decadence before soul reaver 1 and 2 when the clans were at their peak and before extinction, as well as exploring gray areas during soul reaver 1 and 2.

Listening to this gives me so many ideas on how the remake should look. Just imagine, the intro cinematic, but done in Halo 2 Anniversary motion capture style. And every encounter with Kain and brothers having that type of cinematic, but with voice acting and dialogue left intact... Oh my God 🤯
