Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

- Опубликовано: 19 фев 2016
- A playthrough of THQ's 1993 Super Nintendo "edutainment" title, Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends.
This game creeps me out beyond belief - those faces are seriously something out of a warped child's horror movie. It is interesting though, that besides the obvious improvements in graphic and sound quality, this is functionally identical to the protoype NES cart that never saw official release ( • Thomas the Tank Engine... ).

Everyone needs to start voting for this game, and any other Thomas the Tank Engine game, to be played in an AVGN episode.
Whats AVGN?
@@youlookingprettysus8478 I think he means angry video game nerd
I'm voting for the one released on Home Computers to be played.
@@cloudyeggs284 Yeah that one's Creepy A.F.
@@emperorekku6647 and plus the engines being real assholes in that version (aka the cheap deaths) feels more like it'd belong more in an AVGN video rather than the Super Nintendo version.
0:03 I've never heard SNES music sound so authentic to the source material
Probably cause it was made by Tim follin (same guy who did Plok!)
Me too. It caught me off guard by how legit it sounded
Jesus; the music in this game is so charming.
That was the cartoon series music
For some reason I find some of the music eerie😳
Not as good as the nes prototype
Thanks jesus for stating that.

This is one of my earliest memories. My mother bought us a SNES and this game and it was a key memory of my life I’ll never forget it
Well, this actually happened. It's terrifying.
It's almost exactly the same as the unreleased NES prototype, though it throws in a little bit of sprite scaling and digitized voice to pep things up.
James: PAH!
The Sega Version Is More Terrifying, I'd Go With The Nintendo Version
@@WispyBlueBricksGPX You're right. Sir Topham Hat is every childhood fear I held in corporeal form. *Chokes back the bitter taste of bile*
James: EEE!
11:16 Percy looks like a troll
Ryan 17509 lol
True
Even though I'm not a Thomas fan, I'm actually quite a fan of this game. the music is wonderful and the graphics are good.
That intro theme is at least 90% accurate to the original. Amazing work Mr Follin
5:58 AGHHHH
Christopher Niosi *Are you ready?*
Ew they look ugly

Don’t blame the developers. Blame the 16 bit sega genesis limitations.
@@CelestinaakaClonaClox9999 I thought this was a SNES
I’m sorry but the music in this game is absolute 🔥 🔥🔥
AVGN should review this game
0:01-0:28, the old Thomas & Friends theme song, composed by Michael O'Donnell and Junior Campbell, before the sale to HIT Entertainment/Mattel changed all that!
That explains why I'm so confused about the Thomas theme on TV and the one I hear on RUclips.. they changed it..
...to its current theme composed by Edward Welch.
Thanks for the cool extra info!
Let me put it this way...
They're 2, they're 4, they're 6, they're 8
Shunting trucks and hauling freight
Red and green and brown and blue
They're the really useful crew
All with different roles to play
'Round Tidmouth Sheds or far away
Down the hills and 'round the bends
Thomas and his friends!!!

Omg I had this game as a kid. So many memories!
8 bit thomas the tank engine theme is just what I needed 😂😂
When I was young, I didn't know what the game was on (I thought PC) and I've always wanted to play it and now I can!
Snes (super Nintendo Entertainment System) edit: this comment is old now
8:15 Thomas, Percy and Bertie look like they are Trolls
This game, Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends is based on Shining Time Station and Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends TV series was released for the Super NES and Sega Genesis platforms. A version was planned for the original Nintendo Entertainment System but was canceled. A ROM image of the NES version has since been uploaded online.
I remember as a kid renting this a couple times from the video rental store.
For some reason I remember this being on one of the older dvds for the show but this is all I can find and I never even had a snes but I’m nostalgic for this game
You had that on DVD before?
I had The Mail Train episode on the Christmas VHS as a kid
Im 14 now and i missed my favorite tv show now
3:35 slowest race in the show
2:14 Thomas looks like he has a smokebox door!
I've heard Tim Follin composed this game.
According to the game's credits, it was both Geoff and Tim.
3:40 Thomas doesn't look right!
5:32 Sir Topham Hatt looks angry, when he isn't!
5:59 Percy also doesn't look right!
6:20 that whistle doesn't sound like Thomas'!
I liked how they re-created the music and stills from the episodes in SNES form!
I'd like to hear extended version of the songs used in this game!
10:55 you can see Thomas with Annie and Clarabel instead of mail cars.
So you keep on playing until you're tired?
MrBnsft
MrBnsftrain well the whistles, got can't get mad at. The SNES had a very limited sound font, being 16bit.
Yeah, child-aimed games at the time were made to be "play until you're tired." I don't know if they're still developed like that today
9:55 I feel like this song shaped my life. Working air cargo maintenance at night trying not to make the planes late. Started as a mechanic and then a supervisor. I remember playing this when I was 4 years old in 1993. I'm glad I had Thomas as my guide in life as a boy❤
This was the first SNES game I ever played.
thomas is a really useful engine
Memories of me watching a Thomas And Friends movie...m
Ahhhhh,Good Ol' Times 😌
The "M" is so big compared to the rest of the letters in his name that I thought it said "Thornas". I kept saying "What does Start Thornas even mean???"
Selects difficulty for 8 Years +.
Me - "Woah there cowboy!!" XD
I remember playing this, Super Mario World, Jurassic Park, and Power Rangers on my SNES 😂 my main 4!

My little brother always cry when Thomas appears so i always scare my little brother by locking the door trapping him inside and turning on the game.
Good times.

@@capeck1993 Okay Boomer.
They put a hilariously low amount of effort in making this game.
it's..... an upgraded NES prototype...
@@gadget2272 I think it was probably meant to be released for the NES but cancelled it and decided to release it for SNES because the system was able to do a bit more. But I think more could have been added in the game like race against James like the NES but was replaced with Percy. Or more Let’s Go With Thomas scenes.

Why are there windmills everywhere?
I just noticed that in the first sliding puzzle Thomas looks kinda like the Pilot Thomas. (If you know how Pilot Thomas looked then search it up)
0:12 Okay, I remember some video I stumbled upon as a kid where it's this image of Thomas talking about vomiting. The first thing he says after a Windows Movie Make title-card is "To throw up."
If I had seen that as a kid I probably would have cried
*sees title* oh no is this *really* a game?
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° ) lolol
Complete playthrough.. I just couldn't get that far. Come and see my play video of this game!
START THOMAS
Holy shit this is real
Nice
I used to play this game but I don't know what I am doing
Why isn't this on the SNES Classic Edition?
Same
3:28 Thomas looks like a troll
Should this game be on SNES Nintendo Switch Online? If so what are the chances of it actually getting added?
I can see this game added on there but it may be either long forgotten or not known enough. Peace Keepers and the other two sequels were added despite the company being defunct.
My favorite theme from the show at 2:16
I remember renting this game when I was a kid. I liked it better than Mario's Time Machine, my least favorite SNES rental...
I didn't know that Thomas is a game!
Sure is a lot of reading for a game that was most likely designed for 3 year olds.
Two stories from season 1, a story from season 3, but none from season 2?
Thomas confirmed for smash!
Why is this not on Nintendo Switch Online?
looks better than the genesis version... which I have the. ROM. for... oh no
Cool
I've played this...
...somewhere...
Remember look out for the train
At least the face is less creepy than in the Genesis
less creepy...
On the title screen, WHY IS THOMAS' FACE OVAL?!
Might be that it was pixel perfect did this
1:07 and 3:06 these puzzles are taken by Thomas and Bertie
0:07 I am shook.
Thomas
Why did tim follin work on this...
Game start Tomas me ooooooooooooooh yaaaa
Nostalgia?
COME ON
Wow Sega really does what Nintendon't on this one. Graphicly the Genesis version looks a bit worse, but the gameplay is totally different and vastly superior.
Let’s go I was hoping for this (oh but when my comment is 5 this will be ten)
Holy shit, there is a game of this show?? Lmao
I'm pretty disappointed, I thought this game would have more than just 8 activities. Even the Commodore game has more to it than this. Other than that, the graphics and soundtrack are really good.

The Toontastic Toon The Devil watched this video.
The Genesis version was better
We need this for Switch Online SNES (please don't hate me)
I DONT LOVE THOMAS THIS IS WEIRD CARTOON
Ummm... it's a gameplay video of an upgraded version of an NES prototype of the game. Not some sort of Elsagate cartoon.
