- A playthrough of Hi Tech Expressions 1993 Super NES platformer, Tom and Jerry.
It's certainly not of the same calibre as the phenomenal NES game of the same title, but this is a pretty fun, shallow, and straightforward platformer released a while after Tom & Jerry: The Movie. It seems like Hi Tech and RSP finally got it together for this release - this is a surprisingly high-quality release from that pair!

Finally I could finish this game two hours ago. It was so freaking hard when I was a kid. Today I could use my lifetime gaming experience to find out there's a double jumping feature, decipher the loops and actually pass the game.

Funny enough those nes and snes are so much easier to beat now. The fact that tech wasn't so prominent at the time might've been the reason.

It's not the most inspired platformer ever, but especially considering the companies behind it, this is a shockingly playable and fun game!

Seems about par for the course for "Hi-Tech Expressions" - still, better than their PC games from the time (though that's a very low bar)

After over 20 Years who i know this game in Blockbuster times here in Brazil, i finally today finish Tom & Jerry for Snes after years losing and losing, finally finish this epic and funny adventure of Cartoon games. I miss my chilhood days watching Cartoons. Thanks for post this Gameplay, and revive my chilhood playing Snes too.

At first glance, this hop-and-hop game appears to be just a cute cartridge for the younger set that's been derived from the NES version. In this Super NES version of the game, you can play Jerry or Tuffy (in alternating two-plater mode) through 4 levels - from the downtown premiere of the movie, Tom and Jerry: The Movie. This game was released in April 1993 (the copyright says 1992).
I play this game since I was little back in the 90s nostalgia but never beat the game before~
Don't let this distract you from the fact that one of the people behind this game went out to make Postal.

I use to have this game but I could never complete it but my cousin did & that's how I could get to see the ending which is my Favorite part ( but I Love all the rest too ).

They should make both Tom and Jerry as playable characters. the game is incomplete if you play on just the side of Jerry. Tom may be outsmarted many times. But he isn't an antagonist. there are no protagonists or antagonists in Tom and Jerry
In the Sega Genesis game you can play as ether Tom or Jerry!
Actually they're born protagonists as much as they're both antagonists.

I rented this game from Blockbuster years ago thanks to the video game ad seen in the beginning of "Tom & Jerry: The Movie" on VHS.
Grew up with this and the Beethoven game, it's so surreal to me that they were made by the same people

I have to agree with the comment saying this looks like some unlicensed bootleg stuff. Really bad.
I recalled this game mostly for an episode that happened in Italy with a console gaming magazine: they absolutely hated the game and gave it a 7%, and they claimed they subsequently received angry phone calls from at least a couple of shops. Apparently they had got quite a stock of the game's cartridges... :p

i certainly wouldve prefered the unreleased " Tom and jerry: the chase is on!" due to the faithfulness of the cartoon, and the impressive animations for tom who is a large sprite

The SNES sound chip (rightfully) gets a lot of love most of the time...this is not one of the better examples.

The developers of this game really went like "nah I'm tired for making this kind of stuff" and they decided to make Postal 1 and became what its known now.

Am I the only one who noticed that Hi-Tech Expression (The same makers of “Harley’s Humungous Adventure”) used the same enemies from the blocks level ; as well as the blocks background on World-3 of this game. I remember playing this game (When I was 9 years old , I’m currently 37 as of today 10-2-24) thinking this looks *VERY FAMILIAR*

Trust me, THQ's games are far worse than the SNES Tom & Jerry game. I can think of only 3 THQ published/made games that I can consider decent (in the 8 to 16 bit console/portable eras): Billy & Mandy (GBA), James Bond JR (NES) and Wayne's World (NES). The rest of their games (in the 8 to 16 bit console/portable eras) is consistently mediocre to terrible. (Okay, fine, I may be lenient on those 3 THQ games, but those are the only 3 THQ games I like). Take for example, The Adventures Rocky of Bullwinkle and Friends on nes. That game is terrible because of consistently terrible hit detection, bad controls, TERRIBLE glitches (seriously, you can die GOING UP or GOING DOWN stairs, because the piece of junk is programmed really badly). Not to mention, the music is awful in that game and often glitches out, making it worse. The graphics in The Adventure Of Rocky Of Bullwinkle and Friends are mediocre at best.

It's a video game company that made pretty consistent mediocre-to-terrible 8-bit and 16-bit video games (most of the time).

+jeremiah stamper If you don't want to use eBay, Craigslist, swap meets, and small local game shops are usually the best places. A lot of the games are pretty cheap as long as you avoid the super famous in-demand ones. There are a lot of really good games that you can get for under $10.

I suppose this SNES Tom & Jerry game is pretty decent/good (but not as good as the NES Tom & Jerry game). Oh well, at least I like this game a considerable amount (I'd give the Tom & Jerry SNES game a B).
It isn't made by THQ either, so that's a good sign.
30 minutes !!! I played hours before finishing it... (but in was on real console, of course, so, no rewind to find the good way to do things, etc.).
Omg I never passed form the 2 game 🙄🙄 it was so hard for me, this game and that one from Mikey and Minnie 😩
What I hated the most about this game is that it was based on the worst looking season (MGM period).
Also, two things worth noticing: the dumping ground stage is the best designed and I swear I could smell the cheese balls whenever they were on screen.
