I've seen your work and it honestly looks one of them "how to draw manga books" that Christopher hart use to make, and no I'm not trying to roast you im just speaking the honest truth. How can you talk about someone else work when you yourself cant barely make anything substantial. That disrespectful to the medium and the artist. If you call yourself a mangaka how can you dog out someone else hard work like that knowing how and hard and mostly competitive the industry is. And I'm not saying you should be proud of mark just because he made it or whatever I'm saying you shouldn't write off someone else when you can't barely manage your own.
When does meritocracy come into play in your “Koffee” comics ideal? Because you try holding people to a standard you’re not following. DDMark coming from RUclips to being published by mainstream publications like Dark Horse and Viz media is amazing. We should be inspired by this. He’s opening a new lane for manga/comic creators. The biggest problem I have with both the mainstream and indie creators is that there are no quality control. I’m working on my graphic novel and I’m constantly drilling it into the mind of my artist that it’s our first impression and it has to be near perfect. Reader, customers and fans need to start demanding better quality books but I guess if even the readers don’t know quality then we can’t get quality
what even is perfect quality though some say people like oda or one can't draw cause it doesn't look good but the former had made and written a popular manga of the modern day in op and the ladder has both of his webcomics converted too physical manga ( with one getting an amazing art redo with an legit mangaka )you should really just let the artist express themselves with their art and whoever audience who'll gravitate to your book will do that

I currently have the opportunity and money for the first time in my life to fulfill my dream of making my graphic novel. I dislike the idea that creators shouldn’t strive for perfection. As far as proving a point, the only point I’m out to prove is that indie comics and comics in general can be great and not this garbage we’re getting. Comics are my life. They saved my life growing up and I can’t put into words how much I love them. And no it’s not obsession but it’s my motivation to put out the best work that I can at this point simply because comics deserves to be treated better. In 2024, the Majority of people in comics sees comics as a cash grab and they have no love for the medium but if you could see the potential for comics the way I see it then you would understand why I say the things I say. Comics are in a bad place right now. When I strive for perfection (someone has to) then the fans benefits. Nothing wrong with that.

Striving for perfection should be a thing because the fans always benefit. I’m not only a writer but I’m a reader and comic fan first (35 years). I think a perfect quality book is a lot better than all the trash creators are putting out now. When you buy 10 to 15 comics a week and you only get 4 or 5 good stories in the 5 comics, that’s not good for anyone. The fans and readers deserve better for their money
It’s passable but come across as rather bland & empty. It’s nothing new that most of us haven’t seen yet. There’s good art but not much else so I can agree with all of your points. Stories like this end up as disposable, you read it and forget about it because it lacks significance and a deeper meaning behind the writing. If DD mark hired a writer maybe he could make better manga. Not all manga artist are good at writing, some are better off hiring writers if you ask me. The Quality of storytelling should also be a top priority not just the art.
Everything you said can also describe coffee's comic except the art in his is amateur level at best compared to ddmark. Also a manga being nothing new that we haven't seen before clearly doesn't take away from its successes because jujutsu kaisen is extremely generic and rips off plenty of series yet its shuehisha most popular and best selling new manga since mha.

You can't just have a hook and nonsense and incoherent of a story and call it good. Specially generic isekai anime of today is guilty of it. They be having first episode with some unique episode which act as a hook which essentially attract audience then only to be disappointed in next episode. Because the show never had any consistency of quality to begin with and was only using hook as a clutch to push it.

It seems like Dark Horse, Viz Media and others alike are just signing almost anyone who can draw good looking art but with no message or even an interesting hook.. also I’m not even sure if being self-published via Amazon KDP is even worth it too.

I thought Ddmark was signed with Dark Horse. An correct me if I'm wrong but....if you're "signed" and under contract with a publisher....you can't submit work to another publisher because it would create a conflict of interest, unless theres a clause that states you dont have any commitment to a company which i dont think dark horse would do that. An ddmark can draw, but......he uses too many panels and far shots for my liking, but its cool to see Viz work with him
It's odd. Maybe he's allowed to work in both companies because it's different series. It's still unsustainable and makes no sense in a business way, but who knows at this point.

But like I said if dark horse is cool with it then big ups to him.
