It just hit me Sydney woke up to commotion and a scream. The scream could have been the hitchhiker, trying to beat his way into that basement but got greeted by the fake Rick.
The story is pretty 'common' as in, if you're a listener to viewer-write in channels, such as Mr. Nightmare, you've heard similar Airbnb horror story. It's a strangely 'comfy' game for me. You can relate a bit with the characters and it's not that scary, but there's that dread/anticipation that something is going to happen which was fun. Per the story: I think that Rick knows of the man living in the basement. I think this may not be the first time the man in the basement, "Rick' v.2 showed himself to his other guests. But in the past, faux "Rick" has not been violent or acted untoward to his previous guests (irritating, yes, but not scary). Since the property was likely purchased to be a rental property and the real Rick doesn't live in Woodburry, he probably would just change locks and then leave things be, hoping that the other guy won't return. But the guy, likely, kept returning to the house (breaking in every time and living there)...your theory may be correct, the guy may be the previous owner who had to sell the house because can't pay the mortgage but kept on squatting there. I don't think the faux 'Rick' killed the hitchhiker though, I think he may have hurt the guy, or try to attack the guy to keep him away from 'his' property hence the yell/scream.
I think the House sitting story also appeared in Mr Nightmare before or at least in a RUclipsr that read "Creepy true stories" that sometimes got animation
i think the fake rick killed the hitchhiker at the end, he might have seen it as sydney inviting people over to the cabin to mess with the basement area to freak him out, that's why he comes after us shortly after. But either way, after you hear the hitchhiker scream and make your way downstairs, you can see the fake rick walking past the window in the living room, looks like he comes from behind the house, indicating that he may have hid the body somewhere behind the house and then makes his way to the front door. creepy stuff
@@KingL1berty tbh im fine with whatever rayll does that is horror related, whether its a house stalker or not. I think he does a great job regardless, espeiclally on your first time playing. nothing beats that experience
imagine real victim or eye witness of this story seeing these videos of people explaining the situation how would it be and thinking about these stories to be true. quite funny

I think the fake rick had bad intention about sydney.
He tried to murder her... Is that supposed to be a good intention..?
He says he wants what is his: the house and HER. He didn't stop at hitting her with a hammer when he catches her.
