    Gorgeous scenery! What and awesome experience for you guys. Is the trail marked well?

      It was beyond lovely! Hiking in Europe is so gosh darn luxurious. The trails are so different over there...well marked, but they don't seem to be concerned about the alpine vegetation since they have so much of it. You have like 4 or 5 trails all going the same exact way! For the start, we thought we may get lost, but realized they are all switchback cutoffs that people have cut.

    WOW - what views! How do you guys prevent yourselves from tripping on the trail rocks/stairs with all the scenery? Nice there are huts and cafes along the way (and transportation if needed). Makes this hike so civilized. So your hike is some of the TMB? (with a turn off to trails less traveled?) Enjoy!

      LOL, that was definitely one of the biggest challenges...trying to stay focused when everything around you is so beyond lovely! Hiking in Europe is beyond luxurious...especially after hiking the AT! We did the Walkers Haute Route, it goes from Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn. It is a bit more difficult than the TMB.

    Fantastic country. And coffee shops on the trail? Truly a land of wonders.

      It really shouldn't be legal. I cannot imagine living there, and then the disappointment when coming over to our trails in the USA where they don't serve pints at all the huts!

    So are you doing the MBT? Or just part of it and then something else? It looks well marked. Will you be camping or doing the huts?

    • @hikinghomesteaders
      @hikinghomesteaders  Год назад +1

      We are doing the Walkers Haute Route! It's not as well known, and much more difficult than the TMB. We are not camping since it is discouraged in Europe. Each day, we'll either be sleeping in a mountain hut or a hotel in the valley.

    Why did you go back to Chamonix??

    • @hikinghomesteaders
      @hikinghomesteaders  Год назад

      We were staying at the same hotel for two nights. So we had to take a bus back to Chamonix at the end of the hiking day. :) Some of the towns were so remote and difficult to get hotels in every single one.
